Best lasagna in Atlanta! Great, friendly staff. Marcelo and Jullian are friendly as is the rest of the staff. I would highly recommend!

Good food, good service! We got pepperoni and sausage pizza and a chicken parmigiana panini. They were both delicious. Do not get the calamari. It’s weird. The service was good — a little slow but we did opt to sit outside and I don’t think they had staffed out there. The staff was friendly though and very welcoming when we walked in.

This is traditional Italian food — the kind your grandparents would have made if they were Italian. It’s tasty. It’s filling. It’s comforting. The dining room likes it was decorated in the 1950s. The sound track was Sinatra and Dean Martin. Nonna could only eat half of the(huge!) lasagna. I had penne arrabiata. It was lovely. Wait person Vanessa(venezolana por su puesto) was terrific. And since Nonna does not consider a meal complete without a chocolate dessert, she finished with a gigantic portion of chocolate gelato in a beautiful cup. And she ate every luscious bite.

Stopped in expecting a great dinner. We were the only ones there, a couple came in 10 minutes after we did. They received their drinks and an appetizer. Still no one approached to serve us. We left, never to give them another chance.

So since my initial review, this place has gotten a HUGE facelift and upgrade. It went from a cozy hole-in-the-wall pizza joint to a very large, hoity-toity italian restaurant. I’ve also visited 2 or 3 times since my initial review. Only because it is a block from my office and I get tired of Zoes and can’t afford Flip. I really want to like this place but it is consistently… meh…I haven’t tried their pasta dinners but have had the pizza and a chicken parm sandwich there. The pizza is the same as my original post. Meh. The sandwich was made using grilled chicken(OK, I am open to that); however, if you are going to use grilled chicken and not lightly fried cutlets, it needs to be flavorful. Or at least, hide the fact that it is grilled chicken with tasty sauce. I can swear their sauce is the cheap spaghetti sauce you buy at the grocery store. The bread and cheese were quality. But still so disappointing. The staff is always friendly though.

We came in for a quick lunch with our little boy on a Sunday. The waitress was slammed, we had to wait quite awhile for everything. I felt bad for her, but she wasn’t handling it well. Pizza was ok, but my pasta dish was swimming in tomato water and had no salt. The sausage had very little flavor as well. We ordered a half-veggie and half cheese pizza to go for family at home, but they charged me for an entire specialty pizza(didn’t mention that when I ordered). Waitress said that they aren’t allowed to charge for half. Just a few bucks, but this combined with the wait and the«meh» food means we won’t come back.

I’ve eaten @ Marcello’s a few times. Not overly impressed by the food, but it’s not the worst either. Pizza is ok but there’s better. I got a steak sub once and the smell & taste of the meat was off. Like it wasn’t «fresh». I didn’t get sick or anything, but you can tell when meat just isn’t right. The employees are nice though, and service was good each time.

We came to eat here late in the evening around 9PM, so the restaurant was rather quiet. That was fantastic for us because the service was excellent, and we did not feel rushed to leave. The food was excellent; I had«Mama’s Lasagna» which comes with a side salad(also great). They bring out bread with the entrees which tasted unique yet delicious. The cheese pizza on the kids menu is a gracious portion; I think 8″ to be exact. Plus, Tuesdays are kids eat free! Ambience is lovely, extensive wine list, and tasty homemade food. Definitely plan on returning here in the future!

Our fourth visit, 1 in the old spot across the parking lot, 1 in the space w/same owners but different name, and 2 in the current Marcellos setup. Pizza is better in the new place than it was in the old, and it wasn’t bad across the parking lot. The Cheese may be what sets their pie apart from other non-chain establishments. They’re not heavy on sauce, but not quite to thin on it like every other chain around Buckhead. Meat toppings are pretty generous and tasty, as all ingredients are clearly fresh, but we were a little disappointed in only a handful of Jalapenos for $ 2.50 or so. Pizza ingredients are fast, fresh, and the pie has a light and flavorful taste. We won’t come back every time we are looking for pizza, but probably a couple times a year, a handful max.

After shaky knees concert we came here. I could not recommend this place more! Growing up in Chicago I am a little partial, but when the owner greets you that is half the battle. The lasagna and ravioli are fantastic! Class act!

I was excited to try out Marcello’s last weekend, as my partner and I are always up for new pizza ventures, particularly those that are nearby our home here in Buckhead. Unfortunately, Marcello’s just isn’t up to snuff. While the service was top-notch, what came out of the kitchen was a real disappointment. We ordered a Caprese salad with eggplant, and the beefsteak tomatoes they used for the salad were rather nice. The eggplant on the other hand was slimey and unappetizing. We just ate the tomatoes. Our pizzas(I got pepperoni and mushroom, she got the margherita) were also underwhelming. Mine was decent enough, I ate it all, though Più Bello and Buckhead Pizza Company do it better honestly. Hers was undercooked and basically tasted like a tomato sandwich. We had one slice, and said enough was enough. They offered to throw it back in the oven, but we just opted to have it taken off the bill, which Marcello did for us. I can’t speak to the pasta, but I think when it comes to pizza, we’ll probably continue to drive the extra little ways to go to Hearth.

Love the new place! & they brought their train– that was always my favorite part of their old restaurant :) The new local is more Italian restaurant then old New York deli, which is fine, though I will miss the subs very much. I ran over(brisk walk if you want to be entirely correct) on my lunch break(4pm) from my office to grab a quick bite. I was welcomed by a warm hello & yummy smells of the kitchen being prepped for dinner. I ordered 2 slices of cheese pizza(adventurous I know). I was a little disheartened to see the mozzarella sprinkled on top when the slices were heated up, but that’s to be expected a solid hour & a half after the lunch rush even finished. Overall a good slice– they could use more spices– garlic, oregano & salt but again, these were just heated up. I’ll be back to get a fresh pie for my team soon!

I have been going here since the mid 90’s. After moving back, Marcello moved his restaurant and brought it up a few levels. I miss the basic and wonderful subs that I always got… but the new restaurant is lovely and the new menu is amazing. I love that the family runs this restaurant and they take so much pride in what they serve.

So happy to have Mama and Marcello back!!! The format is changed, much more of a nice sit down restaurant than a café. The new place looks great on the inside and has a nice patio for al fresco dining. I ordered Mama’s lasagne, which is now lasagna bolognese rather than sausage lasagna. The lasagna is fabulous. The bruschetta was really good but so wet that the bread fell apart. My only complaint would be the Arribiata Bolognese was not spicy and the penne was not al dente.

What a poor excuse for going out to eat! Service was fair, order was haphazardly served, stuffed eggplants tasted like pickles, and veal parmigiano was slightly softer than shoe leather, yet without any flavor. Best thing I could say is that the prices for the food and wine are low, but you get what you pay for.

I’ve been to this place twice. The ambiance is homey, service is friendly and food is ok/good. The first time I came here I had the bruschetta & Melanzane Caprese which is sliced eggplant, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and balsamic vinegar– very good… but is it possible to mess up on those items. You basically just need fresh ingredients. We also had pinot grigio although I don’t remember what kind, but whatever it was it was delicious, light and crisp. The 2nd time I came here I ordered food to go. I had the Veal Marsala which was recommended by the waitress although she never had it she said it looked good. Ha! Regardless, I gave it a try. It was ok, I finished it all but the portion was not really big. In fact I wasn’t stuffed, which I usually am after I eat pasta. The sauce and mushrooms were good. The veal was tasty, the perfect amount of seasoning — but not the most tender piece of veal. Would I order it again, probably not. But I would still come here again to try the pizza.

I think this place deserves a lot more credit than it has been given by previous reviews. We walked into Marcello’s last night not knowing what to expect. I mean we almost skipped it due to the bad reviews, but decided since it was our neighborhood pizza joint we’d give it a go. Once inside we were greeted by an Italian guy that looked like his nickname might be «Fat Tony», complete with the accent and all; I am guessing he’s the owner. We were seated in a cozy booth next to the wall where our server walked up and politely took our drink and food order, she made sure we had great service the whole time we were there and that our food was to par. For an appetizer we started with the baked pita, Marcello’s version of bruchetta. It was pretty damn tasty indeed. For dinner I had the Marcello’s Special which was one of the finest Italian subs I’ve ever had with it soft bread toasted on the outside stuffed with Italian meats and melted cheese; I was drooling the entire time I was eating. The girl ordered the stuffed manicoti which was also tasty. Overall, it was a nice experience and I’ll certainly go back to try some of Marcello’s other menu items.
