Mardi Gras Cafe Restaurant & Lounge

Everything from the customer service to the food is amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. If you’re in Atlanta please be sure to stop by!

Today’s review is for Mardi Gras Café Restaurant and Lounge on MLK. This spot came up on my radar via Groupon. Upon first entry it seems kind of small but there are 3 other seating areas (upstairs & outside patio). Parking is tricky. It’s a holiday so I was able to park across the street for the low low — free.
Service was a very slow especially because we came at 1:30pm & there was only one server. Very nice young lady but when it takes 15 mins to get water. IJS. So please pack your patiences if you want to come for lunch.
The food is good not awesome but fair as far as wings & chicken tenders go (sampler platter). I’ll have to go back again & try more entrées. They have a full bar. I ordered a Hurricane (if you’re a lightweight drinker-​this is not the drink for you). I fancy a good cocktail. This one definitely hit the spot. I LOVED IT!!!
Overall I will try this resturant again (3.5) & will suggest others to try it at least once.

First time eating there and the food is delicious. I enjoyed the Shrimp Poboy. Definitely recommend and will return.

Went on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered pork chops. Theywere as good as it gets. Not the small ones and not the thick cut but just right. Fried to perfection. Management came out to meet the customers. The food was good. and the staff was friendly. We received a tour of the lounge upstairs. It is awesome. Can’t wait to go back.

Very nice staff and super clean establishment. The chicken breast was flavorful and tastey.

The meal was delicious and well put together. I ordered several entrees which all had great flavors and uniqueness mixed with southern comfort. I will definitely eat there again

The chicken gumbo gave me life! It was amazing. Would highly recommend that you order this dish. The staff are incredibly friendly and they work hard to make sure you have a great experience. Would also check out the top floor if its open as well.

I was sooo hungry looking on Unilocal for places that took pick-​up orders within walking distance. I stumbled upon Mardi Gras, and decided to give them a chance. I ordered smothered chicken with macaroni and cheese and collard greens. The sides were delicious until I FOUND someone’s red weave strands by the macaroni. Never will I eat here again. GROSS

Great staff preparing and serving great food. Our dinner was absolutely FANTASTIC! We got the bread pudding to go and did we ever enjoy it when we got home… it was the best I’ve ever had (except Mama’s), including some I’ve had in New Orleans and other cities!

I visited on ¹¹⁄₂₂ and on ⁰⁹⁄₂₂. I’ll write about each experience. On my most recent trip, it was a to go order. I ordered the creole burger. It was verrrrrry blah. I was starving so I ate it all. The meat was a tad bit overdone, and cheddar cheese was very underwhelming. On my previous visit a friend and I dined in for lunch, I had the fried chicken plate and it was delicious. The portions on both trips were more than ample and the service was good as well. Just don’t get the burger.

Good not great. Mac and cheese was excellent. Po boy pretty good. Pork chops above average. Skip the burger. Sweet tea terrible.
Service was not good. Many mistakes. Brought a tilapia platter rather than the tilapia po boy we ordered then charged us for the platter (we left before we noticed). Ran out of tea and I asked to fill it with lemonade so I could try an Arnold Palmer but she brought a full lemonade back. Would not honor the Unilocal $ 4 check in coupon because I showed it to them after they ran my credit card. Pretty slow service all the way around.
If I was in the area I would definitely try it again. The fried chicken platter looked incredible.

So I’m still here sitting at my table loving what I just ate! While it wasn’t the most authentic tasting, it was pretty good for Cajun food in Atlanta.
I ordered the gumbo and grilled shrimp po’boy and it was damn good. The bread was perfect cause that’s what really makes a good po’boy!!!
I also got bread pudding to go and anticipating it’s just as good!
Only reason for markdown was it hit a bit busy and the only waitress struggled a bit attending to the crowd. And parking: ugh.

Thank you for ending my search for a Great Soul Food Restaurant in Atlanta! This place is amazing! One bite will take you back to your Grandma’s kitchen on a Sunday afternoon, when she prepared a meal with love. Yes, that’s how I felt when I took my first bite of the grilled smootherd pork chops, mac&cheese, and sautéed spinach. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the gravy was to die for. The waitress suggested we try the Bread Pudding, and I told her we didn’t like Bread Pudding. She brought us a sample, and let me just say this, «Hi, My name is Lee, and I’m addicted to Bread Pudding!» It was truly amazing, and my friend said it was food for her soul. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, and Chef Tunde (Shawn) is a culinary genius. Be sure to eat on the balcony, the atmosphere was so relaxing. I can’t wait to go back.

Best spot in the area. I love coming here for lunch. The prices are great and so is the food. The best part is the wonderful service though. I’m always greeted with friendly smiles, and the staff always remembers me. They make it a point to make people feel like welcomed as if they were regulars.

I’ve ordered delivery via Grubhub the day before. then after an hour Grubhub called me saying that they have to cancel the order since no one is answering the phone. Then after some time a guy from Mardi called me that he’s on his way with my delivery. Since I didn’t have cash with me, he asked my credit card information to complete the payment and promise it would not be recorded. foolish as I am I give my card information and when I woke up today, guess what, my bank called me because of fraud use of my card.
Will never order from here again.

We both started off with the Gumbo made with Turkey Sausage… Omg THIS GUMBO WAS AMAZING. The perfect consistency the right amount of spice & heat level was perfect… I will come back here to order GUMBO… For the entrée we ordered Smothered Pork chops with sauteed spinach & Mac and cheese… We got to this place at 4pm in the afternoon parked right on the street in front of the restaurant. So this was not peak time the service is a little slow would be my only complaint…

I attended a birthday party here earlier this summer and I must say I really like this place. It’s the perfect size for a small intimate gathering. They have a few tables downstairs and upstairs has tables, sofa’s and a nice patio area. The food here is really good, I had wings and garlic spinach and I could have eaten several orders of the garlic spinach… it was that good! The service was great and the cook was nice enough to let me watch him prepare the spinach. They were serving great drinks as well and I think it was hurricane’s and they were excellent! I really loved the vibe here.

I would have given them 5 stars because my food and service was so excellent. I’ll tell you why in a minute.
My cousin and I went in on a Sunday afternoon just passing by, so we found out that they have a afternoon patio party, and live music with a DJ and also Karaōke. We decided to sit on the patio because the music was too loud inside. It’s really nice outside but as we sat out there they turned the music up…
My cousin and I had to shout talking to each other. But it wasn’t too much of a bother because the atmosphere was still nice.
I ordered smothered pork chops with macaroni and sautéed spinach. My cousin ordered Fried chicken with macaroni and cabbage, they really give you a large portion of meat so my cousin decided to take half of her food home for lunch the next day… I stuffed what I could in my mouth and boxed the rest and ate it in the car a few hours later… That’s how good it was I couldn’t wait until Monday to eat it.
Now! Here is where I tell you about that missing 5^th star. My cousin texted me a picture of her leftover chicken… It wasnt thoroughly cooked and had blood on the inside :(she was so excited to eat it before she saw that. Next time if I get chicken I’m just going to ask them if they can make sure it’s cooked all the way through. I’m going back! It was too good!

The food and service were ok… nothing to write home about.
I had the shrimp with a side of mac and cheese that tasted like it came from the box. I can’t stand artificial-​tasting food!
The service was very nonchalant. I won’t go out of my way to come back.

Terrible service but a nice venue. I had the Shrimp Po’boy with french fries which was okay. And my friend had the chicken wings which she also thought was average.
However what threw us off was the poor service we received. It took our waiter 15 minutes before she came over to even take our drink orders and we were only one of three parties in the restaurant. We finally got our food and asked for condiments four times before she actually brought us ketchup and extra sauce, and without an apology. She brought out our checks ten minutes apart so we sat and waited even longer.
Very disappointed. Nice restaurant venue but definitely needs better waiters.
