Dentist was okay. However, they have not submitted the correct paper work to the insurance company after multiple requests. Office staff is the worst!

I was referred to Dr. Cohen by a dentist I trust, for his advice on my deteriorating nightmare of a mouth. He really listened to me and was able to design and implement a solution that I couldn’t be happier with. The result is a set of grafts, crowns, implants and bridges that have restored me(well at least my mouth) to normal function. According to Dr. Cohen and several other dentists, mine was a very difficult case. Before he began I had lost 50 pounds due mostly to my inability to eat normally or even enjoy food. Although I needed to lose the weight, this was not a good way to accomplish it. Dr. Cohen took the time to explain all procedures and was always patient with my endless questions(like most people, I am most comfortable at the dentist’s when I’m talking). He seems to really love dentistry. He was not always accurate in the details of his projections regarding what and when things would be done but I’m certain that was the result of having a definite goal and being resourceful, skillful, knowledgeable and confident enough to make the necessary changes along the way to achieve it. So this was actually a good thing. Dr. Cohen is a bit(understatement) of a tech geek. So if you like geeks, as I do, this is a plus. If you don’t like geeks; he isn’t pushy and I think that a timely blank stare would probably discourage any unwanted techie talk. Actually I think that his geekyness is responsible for his having an extensive collection of fun state-of-the-art dentist techie tools, software and machines. Yep, another good thing. The only slightly negative thing I can think of is that Dr. Cohen does not seem to have a standard way of punctuating his appointments. Usually he just wanders off. That would be a valid form of punctuation except that he sometimes also wanders off in the middle of an appointment. Once you realize this, it is just an easily dealt with minor annoyance. This was not an inexpensive reconstruction. It involved my entire upper arch and took over a year for all the sequential steps and intermediate healing required for the procedures. But the result looks great, performs very well and is better than anything I had hoped for. This was not cheap but the price was fair as far as I could tell based on dental pricing sites. I asked for and received a discount for paying up front. Paying for the entire upper arch up-front made me nervous initially. My nervousness proved to be totally unfounded and I got excellent service throughout from him and his staff even though I had already paid.(For example, they unselfishly always gave me the most comfy chair located in the center of the room). For me the result was well worth the time, expense and even the occasional near-death experience(remember it is dentistry after all). Before seeing Dr. Cohen I had spent several years dealing with temporary solutions, indecision, dentists I couldn’t relate to and frequent changes in final objectives. I really was on the verge of just giving up and getting dentures. I don’t like to give up and I am so glad I didn’t. Thank you Dr. Cohen!
