If you live in the South, chances are good that you’ve probably seen Mayfield Dairy products, with their distinctive yellow packaging, inside your grocer’s freezer. In Atlanta, you may have seen their yellow delivery trucks on the road. At Turner Field, there are several Mayfield Dairy ice cream stands set up along the lower level concourse. You don’t have to venture far to find one. Not surprisingly, they all do good business. On a warm spring or hot summer day in Atlanta, not much can beat cold, refreshing ice cream at the baseball game. Every Mayfield ice cream stand at the Ted is staffed by at least one or two folks. The stand we visited was behind section 128, next to the new Waffle House food stand. This Mayfield stand offered 12 different ice cream flavors, mostly classic flavors like vanilla and birthday cake. They also sold«always sweet» cinnamon-roasted almonds and pecans. Yum. Ice cream prices were as follows: Mini Braves Helmet — $ 6.50 Waffle Cone — $ 6.50 Large Cup(two scoops) — $ 6.00 Small Cup(one scoop) — $ 3.00 The mini Braves helmet is like a large serving of ice cream in a souvenir cup that looks like a miniature Braves helmet. We went with a large cup, which consists of two scoops. We got cookies & cream and mint chocolate chip. It was delicious. If you’re a fan of Mayfield ice cream, you know what I’m talking about. The ice cream is soft, smooth, rich, and creamy. A real treat. A lot of fellow fans were eyeing our ice cream. Some commented on it as they passed by. One fellow asked us where he could get some. It’s a hit. Credit cards are accepted at the stands. Unfortunately, no season ticket holder discounts are available so everyone has to pay the inflated concession stand price.
