There was a time when you could go to McDonald’s and expect to get the hot meal that you paid for. The food was never good for you but it was cheap, mouth-watering, and after eating it, that junk food would go right through you like nobody’s business(if you know what I mean). The service at most McDonald’s has never been five-star restaurant quality but hey, you get what you pay for. This McDonald’s may as well be a casino because just ordering food there is a hit or miss gamble. Sometimes you get what you want the way you like it but way more often than not, the house wins. I only live about 1 ½ blocks from this location, so you’d think my food would at least be reasonably warm by the time I get home, but I usually have to microwave it before eating it. This despite the fact that most of the time you still have to wait longer than expected for your order. There is only one employee there who seems to remotely care about doing his or her job. I don’t know her name but if you’ve ever been to this location, you’ll know who I’m talking about. She is a short, chubby, dark skinned, middle-aged sista who talks extremely loud, no matter if the restaurant is crowded or not; and it makes no difference if you’re standing directly in front of her. And if you don’t reply in similar volume, she’ll frown up and cup her hand behind her ear as if she can’t hear you. But bless her heart, she’s the only current employee who’s worth a damn in that establishment. I believe she may be a manager because she often has to verbally chastise her coworkers in order to get them to pick up the pace. Often you’ll see at least two or three of the other employees«on break» sitting near the restroom area inhaling Big Macs and fries and laughing at some of the more dysfunctional customers. And there’s this one guy who walks around with a mop telling customers to move as he cleans the floor. His loose interpretation of cleaning the floor apparently means leaving the whole restaurant so slick with water that it’s as treacherous as walking on black ice. One of these days someone is going to fall and frivolously sue Ronald McDonald himself. As someone said before, this McDonald’s location is losing customers to the Wendy’s across the street. I don’t know if they realize this or they just don’t care. It’s still very popular in the morning when they’re serving breakfast and later in the evening because their floor area stays open later than the Wendy’s. It’s also popular during the football season when Atlanta Falcons fans fuel up just before heading to the nearby MARTA transit station en route to the Georgia Dome. But for me, this is a last resort fast food joint when I don’t feel like cooking and the American Deli restaurant is too crowded.

I feel as if this McDonalds has been here foreveeeeer! I remember coming here as a little girl when visiting my grandmother’s house. Sadly, I also feel as if this McDonalds has not had an upgrade since I was a little girl. The food, decour, and service all seem to be a step below the other local McDonalds. Although the line is almost always long I feel as if the new and improved Wendy’s across the street steals all of the potential business. One time I went here for a chicken biscuit and hash browns and both were terribly undercooked. I mean I honestly couldn’t even eat it. Not to mention that I spent 15 minutes in the drive thru. Hopefully one day this location can become something like the one off of Northside. Now that is a location that doesn’t make me feel like everything around me is just… old.

My after church Im hungry spot. Nothing special in the way of the food or the service. What kinds makes me mad is when people are begging for food or change while Im trying to get my Mickey Dees on… but since I only visit this location after church, I normally just smile and keep it moving. The soda fountain is always sticky and sometimes they are out of lids, the floor is front of that area is also always sticky, and when I’ve seen it being mopped it with dirty water, so again… nothing special in way of service at all. One of the few places in town you can still feed a family of two for about $ 10. Drive thru moves quickly even though it only one line and not the split lines that most places have. will be going again… probably next Sunday:)
