Very nice bookstore. Lots of interesting novelties and books. I found some really cool decals, and greeting cards.

While some of the businesses in the Chinatown Atlanta complex appear to be very old-fashioned, Nihao brings modern culture to the table. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, even to an outsider like myself.(I wish some other bookstores in Atlanta were as welcoming, grumble grumble.) Since I am studying Korean and not Chinese, I find myself becoming jealous of those that are studying Chinese. Because there are so many learning tools offered at Nihao! There are multi-level grammar, reading, and writing books— even a large assortment of flashcards in Chinese and Japanese. With the large population of Koreans in the Atlanta area, the Korean bookstores don’t even come close the amount of learning tools that Nihao has. From a merchandise assortment point of view; the store is perfect with just the right balance of gifts, art, tea art, books, learning tools, music, movies/dramas, and periodicals. The selection of current magazines from the region is also very impressive. Definitely a great place to come and browse, even if you are not able to speak the language. They used to have a Teahouse that served«Texas Toast,» I’m sad that it is no longer open…

It’s the most Chinese/Tawianese/Hong Kong books, magazines, most current music CD albums, Asian ornaments, accessories, etc. it’s not huge, but it has all the necessities. If you want something and they don’t carry it, they’re quick to order and call you when it arrives. The price is fair. I did a comparison: If I had to order online or at the store, it’s pretty much the same price. I would absolutely chill out there for a couple of hrs just browsing during the weekend while sipping on tea that is connected to the bookstore.

Great place to find the latest in Taiwanese/Chinese literature and music. Though the CD’s might be a bit pricey, they are fresh and still hot on the charts in the motherland. Great books and hard to find magazines all available for your selection, and they even have a notary service in the back for all your important documents. I get the daily World Journal here for only $.60 and have a quick conversation with the friendly staff.

I can’t review 99% of the stuff in here. That’s because I can’t read Chinese characters… yet. They have a big selection of Chinese books, current magazines form Taiwan and the mainland, and tons of Chinese/English dictionaries. On my latest trip I did, however, find a cool book(with CD-ROM) on the basics of reading and writing characters. Sure, it’s written on a kid’s level, but some would say that fits my mentality perfectly. All I know is this: I’m totally scoring infinite brownie points with my mother-in-law when I keep score in Chinese when we play mah jong again.
