A second vendor has come to Buddy’s parking lot, and boy, am I freaking thrilled about it. Sandwich Buddha set up shop across the lot from King of Pops just a couple of weeks ago. THEFOODISAWESOME. The menu has seven or so sandwiches on it, all of which sound as creatively wonderful as the ones we tried this weekend. We stopped by the truck with the dog on our way to Freedom Park. It took just a few minutes for them to pull together our order, and the service was friendly and efficient. Every sandwich comes with a little container of tomato-onion salad and another little container with ginger pickled cucumbers, WHICH. Oh, and a little ginger cookie. I had the pimiento cheese-and-bacon sandwich, which has inspired me to learn how to make tomato jam. It was the perfect amount of food, and the bread held up wonderfully under the weight of melty pimiento cheese bliss. Jay H. had the roast beef sandwich, with picked onions and horseradish mayo and it was DELIGHTFUL! Crunchy where it should be, meaty, pickly, horseradishy, etc. Everything was really tasty, and I felt like we got a lot of food for what we paid. Plus, the location means you can get a sandwich, some drinks at Buddy’s, and maybe a popsicle and head over to the park for a sweet little impromptu picnic. Also, the truck is open late-night on weekends. It’s perfect.
