Pasta night! $ 12.00 prix fixe! Excellent pork meatballs and a chopped salad with a creamy dressing. I also had a food wine by the glass(torrentes?) best place to eat in downtown on Sunday night. Sit outside on the porch if you can, but not too close to the back because you can sometimes smell the dumpster.(They encouraged us to move and felt bad about it, so no fault of their own).

So sad the Shaun’s is no long with us. This is/was your neighborhood bistro. Cute bar, friendly staff, stellar kitchen, patio dining option, large windows — in short great ambience. And a wonderful menu to match… hanger steak, flatbread salad, perfectly cooked trout, this summer a chilled beet soup, and a hamburger worth coveting and turning into a full time passion. Wishing Shaun and his team all the best in the world of burgers — give them a try at Yeah Burger.

This is the food I dream about all day, staring at a computer in my little office full of boxes and bankruptcy filings: mussels in white wine, slightly crispy chicken livers, lavender honey prosecco, duck fat so perfectly rendered it’s just a savory caramelly shell filled with juicy meat. I’m not a chef and I haven’t been everywhere, but these were probably the most intelligent and well-balanced flavors I’ve had in Atlanta. The service was solid, the outdoor patio with big old school Christmas lights was lovely, but really I wouldn’t have given a damn if I had been in a parking lot next to a sewer. I tasted the duck first, which overwhelmed my first few mussels. Then my boyfriend got jealous of his duck and I hunkered down on the mussels. Every bite was simpler, subtler, and more perfect. I legitimately almost cried it was just so good. On a less melodramatic note, I was immediately impressed by two things: a) the restaurant week menu was actually bigger and better than advertised and b) they only had restaurant week menu items, meaning I didn’t have to choose less interesting items for the sake of fiscal responsibility. Also, and this seems silly, the waitress noticed I was struggling with my massive chicken liver salad appetizer(which in my defense is the size of a giant sandwich) and offered to box it for me. I would have felt like a moron asking for a box for my appetizer, so I appreciated not having to ask. I was also delighted that the menu wasn’t solely the nouveau southern farm to table concept that I’ve seen a million times. There was a definite European influence that took the menu up a few notches in creativity.

A friend and I went to Shaun’s last night for Inman Park Restaurant Week. This was my first Shaun’s experience even though I’ve been meaning to try it forever. Overall, I was impressed but I do have one minor issue I’d like to point out. The Restaurant Week menu had a lot of choices, which I was happy about. I’ve been to other places for Restaurant Week before, and sometimes you only get 2 or 3 choices for each course. Shaun’s offered four or five. Our service was good. They didn’t have any trouble finding our reservation and they didn’t make me wait to be seated until the other member of my party was there(although I’ve noticed that since I’ve been visibly pregnant, no one really ever makes me wait for anything… hmmmm). Our server checked on us frequently and the only time we had to wait a little while was when she thought we had more members of our party who had yet to arrive(for some reason the host put down 4 place settings). Once this was cleared up, she was extremely prompt. Our appetizer course was awesome. I had the iceberg wedge and my friend had the butternut squash soup. An iceberg wedge is an exceedingly simple thing and that means the ingredients have to be perfect or it’s pretty blah. The buttermilk dressing had a delicious flavor, they weren’t stingy with the bleu cheese chunks and the bacon was melt-in-your-mouth fabulous. Yum. My friend liked her soup, too. Let me skip to dessert, because that was awesome, too. Because I am armed with the knowledge of the 108 Unilocalers who have come before me, I knew to order the Sticky Toffee Pudding. If you haven’t read Addy’s review, then just know that this is actually a soft cake made with dates and topped with a rich, foodgasm-worthy toffee sauce. I can still kind of taste it. I almost died on my drive home because I was so full, but it was worth it. Now here’s the one part of our meal that I wasn’t thrilled about. For my entrée, I ordered the bangers and mash. When it arrived, the mashed potatoes were delicious and creamy(and I think had some horseradish in them — yum). But when I cut into my sausage, it seemed decidedly pink. I have no problem with meat that’s served medium or medium rare by default, but I do think there should be some sort of warning. Either the server should tell you it’s served that way or it should be noted on the menu. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t even care but pregnant women aren’t supposed to eat any undercooked meats. Granted, I ate it anyway because I guess I’m a bad mom(honestly, I don’t know why I didn’t say something) and I think the rule is kind of pointless if you’re consuming quality foods. If you gave me an undercooked burger in McDonald’s I definitely wouldn’t eat it, whether or not I was with child. But there are people that are just squicked by anything less than well done and while I don’t understand them, they might have liked a warning too. Other than that(and my stupidity in not saying something about it), everything was good. I’d definitely go back to Shaun’s, preferably when I’m only eating for one again so that I can try one of their famous cocktails. EDITEDTOADD: A very kind Unilocaler has told me that bangers are always pink on the inside, so they may not have been undercooked. So I’d like to apologize for my ignorance in this matter. I’m still not sure because I felt like the taste and texture was that of medium or medium rare meat, but I didn’t want to be unfair to Shaun’s in case I’m completely out of line here. Thanks, Gretchen! :)

Damn. I wish this restaurant could have lived up to the hype. I probably would have given it 4 stars if service wasn’t abysmal. We were seated promptly and given menus, but after ordering drinks, it was a solid 15 minutes before the waiter paid attention to us again. I literally folded the menus and moved them to the edge of the table so he would perhaps get the point. Ordered the steak tartare with pommes frites, which wasn’t bad. Not what I expected– it was much sweeter than I anticipated. Fries were fine. I can’t really judge fries. Entrees. Ay, there’s the rub. It took 45 minutes to get our entrees after we finished our appetizers. What happened? Not sure exactly. The waiter never explained or came by to fill water. 5 minutes before our food arrived, a manager stopped at the table to say our order was delayed because they didn’t realize our appetizers had already been taken up and didn’t put in the entrée request. Sounds like poor service and management to me. No apologies. Pork Schnitzel was quite delicious and addictive, and the shrimp and grits with pork belly and a poached egg was… OK. We didn’t bother with dessert because really, I didn’t have another hour to spare while twiddling my thumbs. THANKFULLY I had 50% off from Scoutmob, and that may have been the only thing that made it worthwhile. Will not be returning.

Shaun’s, you’ve ignited my hunt for a sugardaddy. I really need to find someone who can bring me to Shaun’s any old Tuesday, whether that means we sit at the bar and nibble on crabcakes and sip on craft cocktails, or go with a full blown meal in the delightfully airy and well appointed dining room. Either way, I’d be happy, as long as this happened on the regular. Unfortunately for me and my budget, Shaun’s is more of an occasional spot. A special occasion isn’t needed, just a nearby payday. I’m always impressed by the crowd at the bar, both in terms of size(it’s often bustling during the week: an anomaly in this town) and age(pretty young given the price points). But I get it: their cocktails are delicious, totally worth the $ 10 you’ll spend. And the bartenders are always super friendly so you get that neighborhood sense of things. Inman Park love. On my recent trip to the dining room, Bennie took care of us and I could quite seriously fall in to his eyes. Swoon. I know I should focus on the food, but really, it was all about those eyes. And that voice. I would very much like him to read me bedtime stories. And yes, my food was spectacular, no surprise there.

Cute little place very nice for a date. We stopped by for a Sunday brunch. We wondered why this place wasn’t very crowded. Well after seeing the menu we figured it out, $ 16 for a cheeseburger? I stayed simple not getting anything too fancy, scramble eggs with cheese, bacon toast and grits. The best thing about my brunch was the grits. I’m not a fan of them because usually the consistenty is runny but these were good but not good enough to want to come back, especially at these prices.

Dinner at Shaun’s was one of the most noteworthy meals I’ve had in quite some time. From being greeted upon walking in the door to rolling out with achingly full bellies, the experience was virtually flawless. It seems that whatever it is they’re doing, they’re doing right as indicated by the fact that within thirty minutes of being seated, the house was packed and there was a line out the door. Good thing Kathleen made us reservations, because it would appear that they’re necessary to ensure you have a table. I’d have to attribute a good chunk of the meal’s success to our server, Bennie. Polite, knowledgeable, unobtrusive, yet checking in at just the right times… this one’s an all-around professional. I suppose it doesn’t hurt that he’s easy on the eyes and has the most deliciously soothing voice; we probably would’ve been happy just listening to him talk at us the whole time… But then we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to dive into the serious drinks on their impressive cocktail program. This was perhaps the most unexpected and delightful things from an Atlanta restaurant(which definitely doesn’t come to mind when I think of great drinks). Whatever went into the Hill And Dale in addition to scotch and elderflower made for a divinely-balanced –real– adult beverage; it would have been suitable to serve at Drink, Cedar, The Gibson, or any number of other high end cocktail lounges I’ve been to. Whoowhee, potent! Finally, I’d be remiss not to touch on the impeccable plating and quality of the food itself. Bennie managed to talk us both into the pan-seared chicken. Sound boring? Shockingly not. Perfectly juicy and tender, the chicken was stuffed with some mildly savory pork product. I can’t remember the last time I went ooh over a chicken dish. Even the asparagus it was served on was done to perfection: we’re talking about the kind of asparagus that still holds a great crunch, just melts in your mouth, isn’t bitter, and retains its vivid vert hue. I’d hazard a guess that they must have cold-shocked it to stop the cooking at just the right time? Regardless, I’m always impressed and envious when I encounter asparagus done this well — it’s something I can only aspire to at home. You’ll have a hard time escaping a dinner here for under $ 30 a head, but for an real treat, I’d unhesitatingly offer Shawn’s as a top choice.

Don’t waste your money here! There are so many better place to spend your hard earned money. A group of 5 of us came here for an early dinner on Friday, and all 5 of us unanimously agreed that it was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. FIrst off, the service was extremely slow. Like I said, we came out early — around 7pm. The restaurant was not that busy. It took almost an hour from the time we ordered until we got our food. And it was NOT worth the wait. Burger: $ 16 for a dried out piece of tasteless, overcooked beef and some fries? The fries were good, but if you’re going to charge a premium for your burger at least be better than Wendy’s. Steak Frites: Ordered Medium Rare… came out well done and almost inedible. So tough, you had to chew each bite 40 times to get it down. Understandable to get a cheap cut of meat if it was $ 12, but at $ 28 for a flat-iron steak it better be incredible. This steak was terrible. Heirloom Tomato Salad — It was OK. Slice of tomato, some cheese, dressing… and $ 12. Good, but overpriced. This is a neighborhood restaurant, folks. Fries — awesome. Cocktails — good but overpriced. Service — slow, no apologies… never gave us an opportunity to tell them how awful the food was. I have had some OK meals here in the past. But we won’t be going back.

This is my first 5 star review… I think… oh no there was one other but don’t worry about that. What I’m trying to get at is that This place deserves the highest star rating that is available. I’ve lived in the neighborhood of Shaun’s for a little while and have thought of going in plenty of times but understood that it was going to probably be a pricey dining experience. Since Scoutmob gave a HUGE deal for Shaun’s I was on my way! I took my girlfriend and oh boy were we impressed! We arrived around 7 and there was already an hour and a half wait for tables inside without a reservation. We were offered outside seating or waiting for open seats at the bar. They have a very quaint courtyard in the middle of the building which we decided was worth a try. Even though it was in the high 80’s the courtyard was quite comfortable. They have one of those huge sun setter awning things, so there was plenty of shade. Our server was very polite, friendly and helpful. We ordered some cocktails and checked out the menu. The menu was small but excellently varied. We decided to share a salad to start, it was an incredible greens and mushroom salad with goat cheese. I’m not usually one for goat cheese, but it was ‘effing fantastic. We split the salad and ordered Steak Frittes and Crab cakes for entrees. Both entrees were cooked impeccably. Medium rare steak actually cooked medium rare, with duck fat fried french fries(btw Duck fat… so in for 2010). The Crab cakes were also perfect, served with a cabbage and a mustard sauce. It was truly a great meal from start to finish. It was made a little more special when the staff retracted the sun setter shade and the evening sky was above us. The courtyard has lights strung between the walls which made the place look great. We were certainly full by the end of the meal and very very happy. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff were great and using the Scoutmob deal was a such a pleasure. I’m now a huge fan of Shaun’s and will be checking out his new restaurant Yeah Burger on the westside. This is clearly a high end restaurant and I’ll be making reservations for every special occasion that I have from here on out!

On a whim, Emme W. and I decided to partake in a mellow meal at Shaun’s last night. I already had removed my sweaty work clothes and changed into something more comfortable: basically an exercise outfit. Luckily, neither the host who seated us nor our waiter frowned upon my casual garb. During our transition from waiting in the front bar area to taking a seat, a band of elderly musicians and dancers burst through the door, sporting brightly colored parade outfits and hats. I particularly«awww“ed over a seventy-something trumpet player and an equally old woman who danced how she wanted and didn’t give a damn. Once the impromptu entertainers received a round of applause and marched off, we were able to focus on the food. I ordered the crispy sardinian flatbread appetizer. Thin, toasted and about the size of a medium ‘za, the bread was topped with arugula and ricotta, tossed in a lemony vinaigrette. I could’ve eaten that and a dessert and been stuffed. Emme opted for the gazpacho: slightly spicy and accented with a dollop of Dijon mustard cream. Based on Emme’s excitement over the available steak frites, I ordered that entrée, too. Cooked medium, the flat iron steak swam in a dark thick sauce, melting into my salivating mouth. I was happy to try the potatoes fried in duck fat, although the«different» aftertaste didn’t sit so well in my stomach. However, I appreciated the other side item – a section from a head of iceberg lettuce topped with a green sauce. Even with our Scoutmob coupon, the meal was expensive for me, per the deal’s $ 30 max discount. However, I enjoyed my food, the simple décor, the down-to-earth staff and most of all the conversation.

I’d heard enough Restaurant Week stories to know one thing: make dinner reservations for an early time. We had reservations for 5:45 and so glad we did b/c finding street parking was easy, the restaurant was less noisy, servers were in a good mood, food timing was perfect. I’d been several times to its former occupant Inman Park Patio and Shaun’s Mumbo Jumbo Restaurant(and liked both very much), but this was my first visit to Shaun’s(I know, shame on me for waiting so long). The apps, brussel sprouts, & dessert impressed me the most. I also liked that the portions were generous. I came with fellow Unilocaler Emily R, and we ordered off the Restaurant Week menu($ 25 for a 3-course meal). For apps, I got the Pork Belly Salad which came with winter greens(mostly frisée and radicchio), crispy egg(maybe poached egg covered in bread crumbs?), green apples, and tete de moine cheese. I loved the variety of ingredients. And um, I cleaned the whole bowl :) Emily’s app was uh, surprisingly huge. She had ordered what looked like arugula salad on a crispy flatbread. Definitely the perfect app for sharing. The salad also had ricotta, rosemary, and chili flakes. A little challenging to eat though b/c the flatbread(more like a cracker) is not pre-sliced so you have to break off the pieces to eat and the salad has a tendency to fall off :(I love arugula, always up for a challenge, I’d still maybe order this again :) For entrees, I got the Georgia Shrimp & Grits which came with Berkshire pork belly, and poached egg buried under a dollop of Creole sauce. I think it’s funny both my app & entrée had pork belly & poached egg :) I was a little disappointed with my dish though — the grits were bland and had no kick at all. Thought the Creole sauce would accomplish that but the sauce wasn’t spicy and even if it were, there was just a dollop. The grits were also pretty lumpy and not creamy at all. The shrimp & pork belly were good though. I tried Emily’s «Grilled Loch Duart Scottish Salmon» which came with mustard mash(interesting) and THE most amazing sauteed brussel sprouts I’d ever had. The salmon was good but seriously I might order a dish just b/c it had Shaun’s brussel sprouts as a side. I need to get that recipe! For dessert, I got their famous«Sticky Toffee Pudding» — that dessert was heavenly! Rich yes, but heavenly. Haha — I was expecting pudding and didn’t know toffee pudding is actually a cake made with finely chopped dates and covered with toffee sauce. I just wish I had ice cream — the toffee sauce would make a great ice cream topping. I was so tempted to ask for a to-go container just for the sauce :) Tried Emily’s «Fried Organic Sweet Potato Pie» w/honey ice cream — tasted pretty good but I don’t think it’s something I’d order. Their other desserts sounded more tempting. Overall, great dining experience. I definitely need to come back to try their regular menu and their $ 12 Sunday Pasta Night.

I feel like I got bamboozled into Shaun’s. I read where everyone went for restaurant week, and I’d tried most places except Shaun’s so I decided to give it a try. I went early(6:30pm) and was seated by a window. I love the style of this restaurant. It’s pretty, with a somewhat quirky lay out.(Or maybe I just have a bad sense of direction.) Although I was seated at a two-top next to table of six, I didn’t feel squeezed in. I went to Shaun’s as my participation in Inman Park’s Restaurant Week. I ordered the iceberg wedge salad, flat iron steak frites, and fried sweet potato pie. Nothing I ate makes me want to go back again. The iceberg salad was overloaded with the blue cheese dressing. I can’t believe I’m writing this because I love blue cheese and blue cheese dressing, but this was too much for me. The flat iron steak was perfectly cooked(a lovely medium with a lot of pink and a thin line of red), but it tasted like nothing — no salt, no pepper, no nothing. The steak came with a marinade, but the marinade was also flavorless. I ended my meal with the fried pie. Being a born-and-bred southern girl, I love, love, LOVE fried pies. The pie was coated in cinnamon and sugar, but the inside was plain old sweet potato. I love sweet potato, but the filling of a fried pie is usually hot and gooey and sweet, not hot and plain. I was sooooooo bummed with this meal. I also tried a mixed drink, the«la migra.» It’s Shaun’s version of a margarita. What was unfamiliar was the pepper added to the drink and the rim. The pepper was actually cool, but the fresh juices were too thick. The drink seemed heavy, and I didn’t enjoy it. Service…Ahhhhh…Oh well. My server started out good, but when I left my drink and meal unfinished, he seemed a bit put out. And then when I didn’t finish my dessert, he was done with me. I didn’t blame him for the food, and I don’t believe I treated him rudely. When he asked how everything was, I was honest and said it was«okay.» Maybe he’s used to people gushing, and I didn’t gush, so he was a bit confused??? Other people love this restaurant, and I hope they continue to enjoy it, but I’ll give it a pass.

You can go ahead and call me Chef Four Star. Why?– because Iam probably drunk of four bottles. And all my reviews seem to be four stars with Shaun’s pushing its way to the top. Of what you may ask?– A whole – lot – of – goood – s”‘t from he – r-e-re Food was great and done well, if not special, even though Shaun was in Utah. Give me some more– because this joint for doing neighborhood food– might be the best around. Burger has the buns that make me happy. Pretty ingenious to use Chinese Style buns for a burger-unique and still keeps that sweet enriched«Americanized» texture and flavor. Salmon I would feed to my mother. Tonkatsu – I mean Schinzniccte – Even without sauce was great –I don’t need no f”‘n Saturn onion ring, but I still devoured it. – one of the best dishes in town. The Green Goddess Romaine needs some respect.– Aretha F. All the food is under salted but with do love for the palate – Chef I I had a good time. Can’t wait to try more dishes. Finally a resto that makes me desire to come back. 4.6789 sTARS cHEF iNVISIBLE-Out

Perplexed! is the word for this place! I loved my Wedge Salad and Schnitzel it was very good and plentiful. Drinks were great! Service was strange, unorganized and took a while, the waitress seems frazzled and unorganized. My friends had the $ 12 three course pasta special, the meatballs were excellent but way to much pasta not enough sauce and the dessert was lame, just a cup of ice cream/gelato, really bad presentation. I think I’ll skip the Sunday night deal and go on Saturday Night full menu, It feels as if the chef does the 3 and 5 course specials just to fill the tables and it upsets him to be in that situation Seems he puts little effort or thought into the dishes. Welcome to a bad economy and you have to do what you have to do to keep the doors open.

If you’re going to Shaun’s for their Sunday Pasta Night I would not recommend it. Last night my girlfriend and I were looking for a decent dinner for a good price and found Shaun’s in my google calendar for their Sunday night deal. We got there a little after 5 when it was empty, but it became almost totally full by the time we left. Great décor by the way. Our server did not seem that experienced though he was helped out by others who brought food and cleared the table. The pasta night comes with salad, a choice of three pastas(this night it was spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, or butternut squash ravioli), and a dessert. The salad was a chopped salad served family style with lettuce, radicchio, and celery. I didn’t like the salad at all. The celery and radicchio were bitter and worst of all you ate it off the small bread plate they gave you. A real salad plate is definitely needed. My butternut squash had about 7 raviolis, no discernable sauce, and very little flavor. It was topped with walnuts, but they weren’t candied, so they tasted plain. I was expecting MUCH better here. My gf had the lasagna which to me tasted like Chef Boyardee and she agreed. Thin sauce with soft meat. For dessert we had a cupful of plain vanilla ice cream which tasted the same as Breyers. Nothing special at all. I bet the people paying full price for a dessert off the menu get real desserts. For a place with such great reviews we were expecting more. I understand if a place is trying to get people to fill tables on a Sunday night with a special, but you still have to keep up the food quality from the regular menu to get people to come back. In total we spent about $ 30 with tax and tip, which is about $ 5 more than a SINGLE entrée from the regular menu, so maybe you have to spend more to get more. Those paying $ 30 and those paying $ 100 should both feel like they’re getting a good value.

Ooh, it pains me to write this. I am giving a full extra star for the damn fine cocktail that was the highlight of the night. PROS: perfect cocktails. CONS: Service, atmosphere, and tableware. I was hoping for the laid-back, cozy place with amazing food that others described. This place had me on edge the whole time I was there-it was disarmingly uncomfortable. It’s like eating in a cold warehouse furnished by Restoration hardware(the white beadboard wainscoting, the oversized coathooks, the muted sage grey paint). It looks right but it doesn’t feel good. The tables are not laid out well. We were at the massive table in the middle of the room. All 3 of us at a table for 12. I watched as people squirmed after being seated in a horrible 4 top in the corner right near a bus station and finally asked to be moved. Bad feng shui, y’all… Our service was reaaaallly bad. Pretty much clueless. Seemed like a guy that had just moved up from bussing. No subtlety, no nuance, not there when you needed him, dirty dishes were still on the table when dessert came, I could go on and on and on. I am all for eating family style, but serving salad served in a pressed wood bowl that you can buy at the dollar store and expecting someone to eat a salad from a 6 inch bread plate is just not cool. The chopped salad was a bit soggy and not very flavorful. Things were not even saved by the famous fries. They were fine, but not outrageous. I am going to try them again, and hope that this was an off night…

I recently enjoyed Shaun’s Sunday pasta night with Emily R. — salad and pasta dish for $ 12. With a generous salad and choice of three different pasta dishes(which aren’t skimpy, either), this must be one of the best values in Atlanta. We decided to do a Sarah Palin and went rogue by ordering the steamed pork buns for an appetizer. Delish! Mouth sized bite of pork belly with a fresh slaw accented with mint and some spicy chili pickles all folded into a freshly steamed bun. With two in an order, this was the perfect appetizer to start our meal. After that, I had the orrechiette with broccoli rabe and burst tomatoes. The flavors were fresh, but a bit thin. The broccoli rabe was quite bitter and there weren’t other flavors in the dish to balance that out, unfortunately. But the pasta was house made and perfectly cooked. Despite that, I’m afraid I had food envy as Emily had an amazing sweet potato gnocci with bits of spicy Italian sausage and roasted brussel sprouts. I’ve had less-than-average service at Shaun’s in the past and I’m happy to say that this time around, our server was attentive for the most part. I’ll definitely be back.

Having eaten at Shaun’s quite a few times, it’s about time I reviewed it. I’ve eaten here as part of a large group Christmas party, part of a 4 top, and several dates with my wife, even before she became my wife. With my wife’s dietary restrictions, one of Shaun’s attractions is his rotating gluten-free menu. Though I can eat wheat, drink wheat, bathe in its wheaty luxuriousness, my wife appreciates Shaun’s occasional gluten-free options. In fact, I’ve had three of his GF menus thus far. His most recent one, a $ 45, four course prix fixe consisted of a(somewhat ironic) tomato panzanella with GF focaccia, a heap of butter poached lobster sitting in a bowl of corn chowder, some steak dish entrée and a homemade orange sorbet/vanilla ice cream float. I know that description gives short shrift to the entrée which, don’t get me wrong, was good, but it was overshadowed by the second course. Soup overshadowing steak? In this case, HELLSYEAH. My wife and I still talk about that bowl weeks later. Yes, it was that good.(And sadly, yes, we have no lives.) As far as other non GF stuff on the menu, the flatbread is tasty, as is the burger(but for $ 16 it ought to be.) The Chinese pork buns? Hats off to the round eye, ’cause this Asian could’ve eaten an entire meal of them. So it took me a while to review Shaun’s. Sorry about that, but hopefully the five stars I’m going to give will make the delay worth it.

I can’t wait to have a dinner date here! The boy and I love to go to good places and Shaun’s is on our list! I went first(he hasn’t been) with a good girlfriend who lives in the neighborhood; she and her husband are frequent patrons. I thought it was great! Great! First, eating at the bar is one of my favorite things to do — it’s always good people watching, you are likely to get into some amount of interesting chit chat with your bartender, and you get a birds-eye-view of how things run in a place. I wasn’t disappointed with our dinner at Shaun’s bar. Second, the drink list is terrific! Just exotic/inventive enough to entertain, but still retaining the classics and also offering a good wine selection. Third, and probably most importantly, the food was excellent. I got the flank steak and my friend got the burger with the super tasty truffle-oil fries. YUM. I look forward to going back and trying apps, since neither of us was in the mood for any that night. I say, two thumbs up!
