Very nice place. The food was good but they do charge a $ 5 fee per person for the live entertainment. They tell you about the fee upfront, so there aren’t any surprises. I had the blackened catfish and grits. It was good but overall I’ve had better… again, not bad but not the greatest. I would definitely eat here again.

The food was pretty good and the service was great. I would suggest sitting at the bar or its a $ 5 fee/person and the performers didn’t sound worth the extra money. The bartender and staff were extremely friendly and will gladly give you extra sauces, toppings, etc. The chicken and waffles were good, didn’t have time to try their cocktails but they looked good.

I wish I could give 3.5 stars. I stopped in here on a visit to Atlanta for a late dinner. It wasn’t too crowded but I didn’t want to pay the $ 5 charge for sitting in the dining room when there’s music so I snagged a seat in the bar area. The music was quite lively and the food pretty tasty. My only complaint was despite being busy the service wasn’t great. My waitress was very friendly but I had to ask at least 5 separate times for water. Eventually towards the end of the meal he bartender brought me some. Overall good food and atmosphere but mediocre service.

Celebrated our anniversary with good live music, excellent service and food to die for. We had the smoked wings appetizer… they were so good and savory. Our entrees were the ribs and shrimp and grits. Had a moonshine lemonade that was nice and smooth! We originally found this place by accident but we have been fans ever since

We sat on the tables near the bar, so we didn’t pay the $ 5 to sit inside but still got to enjoy the live music from the stage. Our waiter was really nice and just seemed really chill. That’s a plus on the service here. This is more of a fancier dinner place, but it’s definitely an eating experience. I got the jambalaya pasta and my husband got the fried chicken with mac n’ cheese and fried okra(for me because I love okra). The jambalaya pasta was bursting with flavor and had lots of things inside. It seemed like there was almost as much shrimp, chicken, sausage, and veggies as there was pasta. I was very satisfied with my order. The fried okra was cut into pieces and battered. I loved it. I also had some of the Parmesan grits and that was really good. The fried chicken also has a good flavor to it, though I’m not much of a fried chicken person. For dessert we got the bread pudding and peach cobbler. Fair portions, a little on the smaller side. Both just hit the spot and added the finishing touch to our dinner.

Only downside is that there is always a live band playing which can make it noisy. Overall the food and service was great.

I went to the Juke Joint two evenings last week — the food seemed hit or miss. The first night I tried the fried green tomatoes and they were delicious. The other folks in my party were pleased with their dinners as well. Our service that evening was great! very friendly staff. The next night I returned with a different group of folks; our food was a bit disappointing… their shrimp & grits was extremely salty. The fried chicken was pretty bland and the mashed potatoes were stiff. The music was very enjoyable both nights. If you are looking to have conversation at dinner, be mindful that the music can make it difficult to hear.

Friends and I celebrated my 43rd birthday here a few years ago and had a great time. The food was great, the band was really good and so were the drinks(albeit strong). Best of all was the service, the wait staff took the time to honestly explain the menu and make suggestions by asking us questions… what a novel idea. The only complaint was we weren’t sat at our reservation time but it was only fifteen minutes compared to my prior review of forty-five minutes at Empire State South(read above) AND my deposit wasn’t refunded when they said it would be… I actually had to send them an email to light the fire under them. That being said, I would definitely recommend

It’s sad an entire dining experience can be ruined by an unpleasant and embarrassing experience with a member of management. No doubt my mugshot will soon be appearing on wanted posters across the nation. I was chastised for wearing my cap in this fine eating establishment in Atlanta. Good food and superb service… but… My blatant disregard for their 5×7 «Hat Ban» signage should have been corrected at the door and not in the middle of dinner. #rulebreaker #felony #wontseemyfaceorcapinthatplaceagain

The good: one of the things I wanted to do in Atlanta was to go out and try to find some good fried chicken. Sweet Georgia was able to satisfy my craving, their fried chicken was good but… The bad: it didn’t taste any different from any other fried chicken place I’ve been to. I guess I was disappointed because I expected something a little different(honestly I felt like going to a local Popeyes would do). The sides dishes provided with the fried chicken combo were alright. Baked beans with molasses and bacon was good. Collard greens with smoked turkey was meh. Southern Mac and cheese was meh. And finally the Parmesan cheese grits were meh(notice the trend?) The ugly: it’s not that I didn’t enjoy them, it’s just I had a bigger expectation on the fried chicken. Neutral: it seems like it’s close to a lot of hotels and it’s right at the downtown core, so it tends to attract more tourist than locals — usually not a good sign imo.

Yum! So glad we found this place! But I must admit, the GPS is not accurate. It’s actually a little further up from where the pin is. Keep an eye out! We walked in for an early lunch at 11a when they opened up. They already had a couple of parties seated. We were quickly seated and greeted by our very pleasant, funny server. My friend ordered a huge Bloody Mary, looked good but, I was alched out from the music festival we attended. I ended up ordering the shrimp and grits entrée for $ 15 with a side of green tomatoes for $ 5. The good came out pretty quickly. My shrimp and grits were so decadent! They were bathing in a butter sauce, a little heavy on the salt though. Only came with 4 shrimp. The grits were so creamy! Very good dish but id rather have a spicy sauce vs. Butter sauce with my shrimp and grits. Was a little thrown off by the crispy onions piled on top of the shrimp and grits but, they were good. Couldn’t have too many though, this dish was already very rich. The fried green tomatoes were also very good and had some goat cheese! Had a great crisp. The sauce was a little bland for me though. We had a great time here. I definitely recommend it. Just be careful with the shrimp and grits if you have a sodium issue.

Perfect southern fried chicken, for that matter perfect southern food! I’m not from Atlanta and was looking for something super delicious that wasn’t too expensive. I spotted in right as they opened. Our server was fantastic, she was fun and light hearted! Fried Green Tomatoes with herb goat cheese are a must try and they offer them as a side item or appetizer! The fried chicken was seasoned great and was so tender! Last but not least Mac and Cheese is a staple for southern cuisine, they hit the nail on the head!!! I topped off my meal with a Bloody Mary which was garnished with a pickle(my favorite). I requested my drink to be spicy and I was a little disappointed because it didn’t have a kick at all but the food made up for it! Last note is that the GPS told me that I had arrived when I was a little way down Peachtree. Be aware that the GPS isn’t completely correct but it’s worth the hunt to find!

I went to Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint last night to meet up with my co-workers for our get-together/birthday celebration. Juke Joint is a fun option if you’re looking for a night of live jazz, comfort food, and maybe some cupid shuffle?!. I believe the band playing last night was the Infinity Show Band. I originally heard this wasn’t the band that was originally scheduled to play, but I was so glad that I got to enjoy my evening with this band playing. Great music, energy, and vibe! If you go to Juke Joint’s website, you can find their events calendar with a list of bands scheduled to play that day. As for the food, I ordered their ½ rack of ribs($ 19.99) that comes with steak fries and a side of their Fried Green Tomatoes($ 5). Their Ribs and the BBQ sauce was great; however, my main complaint is that there WASN’T enough MEAT on those bones! The batter for their Fried Green Tomatoes is quite delicious and enjoyable. Their menu is slightly limited, but I hear great things about other dishes they serve here. Take a peek at their menu:
You can park in a garage with a validated ticket from Juke Joint for $ 5. In order to find the garage, you need to pass Juke Joint on Peachtree Street, Turn right at the second light(Forsyth Street), then take an immediate right onto Carnegie Way. The deck is located on your left between Fairlie Street and Cone Street(If you want to drop a pin on your map, you can type in the longitude/latitude 33.7583530, –84.3887610). lol. Don’t judge. I’m directionally challenged so this would have been waaayyy easier for me than looking at the map to find out where the streets intersect. One thing to keep in mind about parking here is that you will end up battling everyone trying to get out of the garage at the end of the night. I think it took me ATLEAST30 minutes to get out of that garage!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed myself here. The music was amazing. Loved the décor and the atmosphere. The service was efficient and friendly. I did not feel rushed at all. The food was good. The fried chicken was just ok. I personally wasn’t too impressed with the honey they dipped it in before serving. However, the smoked wings appetizer was so good. The Mac and cheese was perfect and the drinks were the right strength. I’d definitely come back if I’m ever in Atlanta again.

WHAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT did you say??? Sorry, I tried. I love live music, far more open to all types of music when it’s live. But you have to shout into the waiters ear to order, no way you’re having a conversation with anyone. Ordered a drink and had to leave half way through. I’m all for live music but it is still a restaurant.

I absolutely love this place. It is one of my favorite places in ATL. I don’t come here as often as I would like but last night I visited with a date. We had an awesome time! This is such a cool atmosphere. The ambience is great and the live music adds an authentic touch to the vibe. The food is awesome and the service is always on point. Last night I ordered the Fried Chicken with Macaronit & Cheese and Broccoli. I ordered one of the moonshine(yes…MOONSHINE!) drinks and it was on point as usual. I’m from Mississippi so them bring your drink out in mason jars is always a reminder of home and makes me smile on the inside! This is some of the best fried chicken in the Atlanta area. Very flavorful, juicy, and the right amount of breading. The macaroni was good and I don’t think you can really mess up broccoli. I liked that they have $ 5 validated parking also b/c parking on Peachtree can be ridiculous. We had a great time. This is a perfect spot if you’re an over 30 looking for a cool spot to hang with friends or is a perfect setting for a date b/c I sets the tone for a really intimate environment. This place can be a bit pricey BUT it’s worth every penny i assure you! I’ll definitely be back to visit sooner rather than later. Every time I go to this place, it makes me remember why I did. Oh yeah… MOONSHINE!

I came here for lunch with some coworkers on a Thursday. We got seated quickly since the place was not crowded for lunch. We got the smoked wings to start which was good. For my entrée, I got the shrimp and grits which was good, but not one of the best ones I’ve had. It took us a long time to get our checks. Given the place was pretty empty for lunch, I don’t know why it took at least 30 minutes just to get the check. Overall the food was good but the service was a little slow. Maybe not the best place for business lunch on a weekday.

My coworkers and I had lunch here and we loved it. The background music was cool with the video playing on the various screens around the restaurant. I had the chicken with greens and Mac and cheese! I loveeeee Mac and cheese and this recipe was oh so good! My coworkers raved about the gumbo and chicken and waffles. I realized there’s is no difference between sweet tea and iced tea. Get water To dilute the te of you can not handle sweet tea like me. The staff was very courteous and prompt. The kitchen even brought out a peach cobbler for our boss which was yummy. We will definitely return in the evening or during brunch for bottomless mimosas

Beautiful setup! Before entering I was immediately impressed with the revolving doors and bright signage welcoming me to Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint; as if the name wasn’t enough. Walked in and the place was arranged very nicely; gave a modern look to a 50’s feel. The lights were dim, the bar was stocked to perfection, the staff were all in neatly pressed uniform attire, it was spacious, well designed with an awesome stage. The hostess was sweet as pie, we opted to sit at a high table in the bar area which was first come first serve and just outside of the main dining room which also served as the open entertainment venue. They have a live band at 6pm; if you decide to sit in the dining room there is an additional $ 5 cover placed on your tab for show purposes. The main dining area filled quickly with guests. Fret not, if you choose to dine in the bar area you get the same show(minus the $ 5 cover). There are TV’s, a full bar as well as a full view of the stage. Our server Chris was superb! Extremely personable, sharp and gave excellent recommendations. We started with the wings and loved them; so flavorful and tender. I ended with the Salmon which was very filling, well prepared and presentation on the point. The entire Juke Joint experience was awesome; I can’t wait to return with enough time to enjoy the live band. ~Christy

Hey Unilocalers!!! So went here for the very first time I was celebrating my sister in law’s birthday… I went to the one in Downtown Atlanta. The location is very nice easy to find. We enter the place and it has a very intimate setting. You come in and they have a screen that has all the legendary bands and artists. They have a greeter at the door who greets you as soon as you come in. Walking to our table it was very nice the dining areas was very cool and the setting of the table and dining areas were set to a chill type mood. Our server was very nice. She greeted us and started us off with our drink orders. Now our waitress which I forgot her name gave excellent service. She even took care of my sick fiancée. I order the miss ceilys punch strawberry flavored. Now this is moonshine so it was a little on the strong side. I also had a dr. Pepper and water. The food I ordered was the fish and chips. My fiancée got the juke joint fried chicken. The catfish was really good. I also got the southern mac n cheese and that was delish. So I did get lucky and tried some of my fiancée’s fried chicken and I must say it was so freaking good. The glaze they put on the chicken was good. It was so juicy and flavorful. They also had these little sweet potato biscuits and cornbread those little things were so good the sweet potato biscuits were not even dry it was like bitting into a soft heaven pillow. The area we set in was in the back close to the second bar, kitchen, and stage for entertainment. So I know you are probably wondering why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5. Even tho the services and the food was excellent. The place is pricey. First they charge you $ 5 fee per show and then the moonshine drinks I got was $ 12 which I can say it was worth because it was strong. There is not a plate on the menu not counting apps that was under $ 20. They also charge you a gratuity on your bill as well. So before you tip beware that it is already added. Overall my experience at the Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint was a great and when I’m in Atlanta again this will be a spot to go.
