This food was overpriced for the size and portions. I literally spent $ 10 and I was starving 15 minutes later. Truthfully I opted for a salad variation of one of their meals which is just lettuce and tomato. You are only getting your money’s worth if you’re eating a bowl full of rice not even that much protein. Is it good? Yes. Are their prices cohesive with what they are serving? Absolutely not. No one would spend $ 8-$ 9 on a bag of rice ever. Please adjust price point to reasonably match food offerings.

I spent way too much money at this food truck. It was during Animé Weekend Atlanta and I felt the urge to try something completely and totally different. These guys provided. Much better than a nondescript burger. I had the Shaken Beef, something called Jazzi(sp?) Rolls, and a Vietnamese coffee with boba. Because why not? My only complaint: the price point seems a bit high. The«Shaken Beef» is cubes of beef marinated and«shaken» in a wok with some garlic and onions. It was served on top of some Jasmine rice and a side salad with house made vinaigrette. This was delicious. Even the salad. The Jazzi Rolls are not your average spring roll. They’re fried rolls with ground pork, chicken, vegetables and served with a nuoc mam dipping sauce(classic mixed-fish sauce – you’ve undoubtedly tasted something like this before, elsewhere). Very tasty. Nice side to the shaken beef. And the Vietnamese coffee with boba was just fantastic. An excellent dessert which will keep you wired in all the right ways.

Discovered Viet-Nomie’s tonight at the Paper Mill food truck gathering and loved it! Food was so fresh and tasty. Nomie and her husband were there and couldn’t have been nicer. Delicious change from all the other standard food trucks. I would strongly recommend eating at Viet-Nomie’s Gourmet Food Truck!

GREATLITTLEAPPETIZERS While out at Food Truck Friday in Duluth tonight, I decided to try Viet-Nomies. I just love anything that remotely resembles a spring roll. Their spring rolls were very good. They were very flavorful and surprisingly not greasy at all. I believe that they were filled with chicken, veggies and a little seafood. They were wrapped so tight that they almost resembled cigars. The sauce that accompanied them was not necessary and was a «throw away». My husband thought that the rolls were dry and they might seem dry to some, but I would much rather have dry than greasy and this did not bother me at all. I would definitely return for seconds.

I don’t like that the food truck reviews get lumped in with a dine in restaurant but what can you do I guess. I’m reviewing the food truck. It doesn’t look like the café is open anymore anyway. This food truck comes to the Ravinia offices on Fridays and it’s much better food than what a café around here is going to have, so I like coming here. The menu doesn’t rotate too much and there’s 8 or so things to choose from. They also serve Vietnamese iced coffee and some bubble teas. I really like the beef and onions over noodles with a name I can’t remember despite having read it repeatedly. It’s $ 10 but it’s so good and filling. It seems like it’s small but then you get back to your office and put yourself into a food coma. I also tried the bun cha gio today, it’s something I never had before. I absolutely loved the spring rolls, but I wasn’t sure what to do with the noodles. I tried putting the chili sauce on them but it didn’t seem to stick so it was less than satisfying on that end and I would probably rather have just the rolls. Everyone in the truck is so friendly, I think the owner runs the register and she is always so, so nice. Once they get your name you’re not just«Amanda» you’re «miss Amanda» and I find it so adorable. It’s definitely gotten more popular since I first realized there were even food trucks outside so they do a steady stream of business when they’re parked out there, even in the cold. I’m trying to get myself to switch up the day I allow myself a food truck lunch but I really want to try their phở before it warms up!

Tasty Vietnamese food from a truck that comes several times a week to Georgia Tech. Not sure why this is labeled as closed, because they definitely come to Tech’s campus several times a week. Maybe because they no longer go to Buford Highway? I’ve never seen them in that location so I can’t say. There’s an assortment of entrees to try, which include their«Jazzi» spring rolls, traditional Vietnamese vermicelli served with these spring rolls, banh mi sandwiches, and lemongrass chicken. Vegetarians will be pleased with the selection of tofu dishes. Portion size is very good for a food truck. Vegetarian or not, the food also seems fairly healthy when compared to other food truck fare. I liked the vermicelli with the spring rolls a lot. Considering again that this is served at a food truck, I thought the food was better than some Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to. You get 2 – 3 spring rolls chopped up on top of the vermicelli. The spring rolls have chicken and vegetables inside and are fairly crispy. On the side you get a salad with fresh lettuce, a slice of spicy pepper, and fresh basil. Lemongrass chicken tasted more like grilled chicken on rice with the same salad. It tasted okay though. If you see Viet-Nomie’s on the way to lunch, it’s worth a try.

Anyone can make a curry meat sub taste somewhat decent but making a Tofu sub taste great, now that’s art. Luckily thanks to our cafeteria being constructed I was able to try the Viet-Nomie’s food truck and needless to say I’m already missing my tofu sub. Its mildly spicy, though you can add a bit of hot sauce to up the spice level, and it has the perfect blend of onions and vinegar taste that overall balances the sub. They do have other meat options, but being a semi-vegetarian(I do eat sea food sometimes), I would highly recommend their Tofu sub to even the strictest meat lovers. Trust me you wont be craving meat with that sub in your hand.

Viet-Nomies — an exquisite piece of Buford Highway brought to Candler Park. Yay food trucks. Banh mi xa xiu was delicious, and I have no doubt the other offerings are good. I was going to indulge in cha gio too, but the skies opened up at the music festival and I gave up the evening.

You can see all other reviews of Unilocalers who attended Daniel B.‘s wonderful Buford Highway UYE series. Honestly, the family that runs the place was very hospitable and accommodating. The food was good as well. They had a hard time trying to keep up with the orders, since there were more of us there than could fit. I got the shaken beef dish, which was reminiscent of my mom’s, who I consider count as the best Vietnamese cook ever(maybe I’m biased?). Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals and it was nice that the owner came out to explain her story. I like supporting the next Viet in his/her business endeavor. And I think it’s awesome that there’s a food truck representing our gastronomy. But! There is a but. As much as I loved everything, I have to subtract a star for pricing. The thing is that I can go to Buford Highway and get the same type of food for about 2⁄3 of the price here.(I AMTALKINGABOUTTHEBRICK-AND-MORTARESTABLISHMENT, NOTTHEFOODTRUCK.) This place is clearly targeted for people who are scared of going to ethnic neighborhoods, as it is brightly lit, and while the interior is nothing to write home about, it is nothing like those phở spots that sell a huge bowl for less than $ 7. By the way, the phở here will be served in a paper cup. So if you are sketched out eating at a Vietnamese place with a health score of 88, you will think this place is worthy of 4 – 5 stars. But since I am Vietnamese and have ran barefoot in mud in Vietnam with my cousins, I don’t need such a sterile-looking place to satisfy my hunger.

Pronounce it as Vietnamies, not Viet Gnome-yees. Viet-Nomie’s is mainly a food truck, which I personally have not eaten from. But it has been a few months since I had Viet-Nomie’s at Daniel B’s UYE at the restaurant, but I find myself craving it as a to-go meal. BUNCHAGIONOODLEBOATS This dish was great and balanced. I loved that there were crispy egg rolls on top of a bed of warm noodles flavored by fish sauce. On days that I’m craving Viet food but don’t want to stuff myself with a huge bowl of phở, I think of this dish from Viet Nomies. BAHNMI This Bahn Mi is a little different than what you’ll find at Lee’s Bakery. The pork isn’t the traditional viet bright red BBQ pork. This one is in slices with other types of spices, but since I was expecting the traditional one, I was a little let down. BUT if you go into it with open expectations, it still tastes great. Also, the bread was a little difficult for me to eat with my grandma teeth, so the owner suggested that I ask for it toasted a little longer next time. PHO What’s interesting about this phở is that it doesn’t use beef stock! WHHAATTT. Yet it tastes amazing! I tried a little bit of the soup and it is a much healthier alternative to your regular phở but still gets the full flavor of the dish. Overall, I’m pretty excited for the Viet food truck, and I wish them the best. [32 of 100]

Aww, I love this. Came here for one of Daniel B.‘s BuHi UYEs. I arrived early with another Unilocaler, which was awesome because that meant we got to chat with one of the owners before everyone else arrived. What a cute little guy?!? Viet-Nomie’s is primarily a food truck, but they also have a storefront on Buford Highway. The menu is limited, as food truck menus usually are, which is not ideal for the store. However, I was very impressed with all of the food that I tried. For my entrée, I chose one of the specials of the day — the shaken beef. The meat was tender and seasoned well. Served over rice and with a sauce made out of deliciousness and love. That was some goodness. And as if I wasn’t in carb heaven already, I also ordered some fried rice. Damn good fried rice. It had some sausage and other stuff in it, but I really enjoyed the sausage. Also, be aware that the portions are kind of ginormous. I also had the opportunity to taste the spring and summer rolls. Yes and please. Both were quite good and are items that I’d likely order when visiting again. All of the folks working here were so, so friendly and did an excellent job of handling our large group. Viet-Nomie’s is absolutely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

The menu is small(literally only six things) and overpriced(for Buford Highway at least), but I’m still a fan because everything I tried was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge. The spring rolls are the biggest I’ve ever seen. A single order is stuffed with pork and shrimp and would be more than enough as a dinner entrée for a single person. The fried rice is likewise pricey, but is unlike any other fried rice I’ve tasted, laced with a delicious«special» sausage. Though my two items came up to over $ 10 with no drink, I was still able to get two meals out of it. I also sampled a bite of the fried spring roll from our table, and they were amazing –no cabbage at all, just meat! The food is delicious and the servers were incredibly sweet, but this isn’t really a place you come to dine. The interior is bright and clean, but this is really more of a to-go place, as the food is served in disposable containers and there are only a handful of picnic tables to eat at inside.

Viet-Nomies is a food truck and a café. This is the review of the café. The café is nice and cozy. Only about 20 people can fit in there. Their menu consists of the standard food truck like, Vietnamese items. I think they’re mainly a food truck. So all the dishes come out as it would from a food truck. Maybe it helps to cut the costs. But I found it weird to eat phở out of a paper cup. They had 2 specials the day I went, the Shaken Beef and Ribeye Steak. I got the Ribeye steak. It was as sliced up ribeye over rice, some vegetables, and some fish sauce on the side. I don’t think the fish sauce was pure fish sauce, it looked like their own concoction. I liked the ribeye. It tasted delicious. They cooked it to temp, grilled it well, and seasoned it nicely. I loved the flavor of the beef. If you add the fish sauce, it tastes even better. It’s a solid dish. However, it is a ribeye, so you’ll pay a bit. It felt weird to pay $ 15 at a Vietnamese restaurant and eat the dish from a styrofoam to-go box.. But it did taste good. I also tried their Shaken Beef. I liked this better. The meat was soft and tender. It was also grilled and seasoned well. The reason I liked it better was because it seemed like a better value. Sure, the meat isn’t ribeye, but it tasted just as good but much cheaper. It comes with some French Baguettes, but I would get it with rice instead. I tried their phở broth(not the whole phở). I thought it was too sour. I’m not a fan of lime in the broth. Usually, at phở restaurants, they bring out the plate full of goodies like bean sprouts, culantro, cilantro, lime, peppers, etc. But Viet Nomi’s put that stuff in there for you. I think the ratio is whatever the owner prefers. She seemed to prefer it with a good amount of lime. I don’t like lime in my broth. But people have different tastes. If you like lime in your phở broth, then you’ll probably like it. I think she should just have lime on the side so people can choose if they want lime. Also, I felt the broth had too much star anis. I just need a hint of it. The broth was also chicken broth, not beef. Now, I like a good, beefy phở broth, but I couldn’t tell with Viet Nomi’s broth. They did a great job using chicken broth. Maybe because the taste of the chicken was hidden behind the lime and star anis. Anyway, I like this place. The people who work here are very friendly and accommodating. I wouldn’t get the phở here due to the broth and eating it out of a paper cup. But I would get their shaken beef or ribeye dishes again. In fact, I’m craving those dishes right now as I write this. Mmmm.

Viet-Nomie’s is a new Vietnamese food truck and café in Atlanta. It’s Atlanta’s first and, so far, only food truck serving Vietnamese cuisine. Twenty-four of us descended upon the permanent«commissary» location on Buford Highway last night for dinner( ). The owners of this family-run establishment couldn’t have been more gracious and welcoming to our large group. Viet-Nomie’s is a young business that is just getting its feet off the ground. The ultimate goal of the owner, Nomie, is to hit the road exclusively on the food truck. That means, at least for the foreseeable future, the café will be closed when she’s out on her food truck. Like other food trucks in Atlanta, Nomie’s permanent space exists to satisfy local regulations(e.g. raw ingredient prep must be handled in the main kitchen as opposed to on the food truck). So, be sure to check out Viet-Nomie’s web site or Facebook page for café hours or dates/locations of the truck. The café is small and cute. It’s brightly lit and gives off a cheery atmosphere. There are five picnic-style tables of four inside, for a maximum seating capacity of 20. The food truck is decorated in green bamboo leaves. Like most food trucks, the menu is small. There are six regular items and specials that rotate periodically. The six items are: Cha Gio — fried pork and chicken rolls w/veggies and vermicelli noodles Banh Mi Xa Xiu — Vietnamese pork sandwich on a baguette Bun Cha Gio — spring rolls served over noodles w/a side salad Goi Cuon — fresh pork and shrimp rolls served w/hoisin sauce Phở — Vietnamese noodle soup, the broth made from chicken Com Chien — fried rice with Chinese sausage, eggs, scallion Two popular specials were available to us last night. They were the ribeye and the«shaking beef»(slices of beef«shaken» in a wok with garlic and onions and served with pieces of buttered French baguettes). Pricing is not bad as not a single regular item is over $ 7.00 or $ 8.00. The specials are pricey though(e.g. ribeye at $ 14.95). Buford Highway banh mi lovers will notice the $ 4.95 banh mi. That’s steep for banh mi on Buford Highway since you can go to Lee’s Bakery, Quoc Huong, or Viet Tofu and get one for almost half as much. However, since the truck will be galavanting around town in food truck parks, festivals, and diverse neighborhoods, this price point may be OK. Everything was served in disposable to-go containers, including the phở. Silverware consisted of plastic cutlery. I tried the ribeye and the bun cha gio«noodle boat.» Both were extremely delicious. When the ribeye hit the table, there were collective«wows» and gasps at our table. It looked, smelled, and tasted amazing. I had the ribeye cooked medium and the meat was exceptionally tender and flavorful. The inside of the meat was perfectly pink(check out my photos to see). The ribeye was served sliced over white rice with a small side salad. The meat came with a savory and addictive dipping sauce. I have no idea what’s in there. The spring rolls in the bun cha gio noodle boat were also pre-sliced and sitting atop a bed of white rice noodles. The side salad included traditional Vietnamese pickled carrots. This dish came with nuoc mam(mixed fish sauce) on the side, which was ideal for dipping or for just throwing on top. Our party ordered everything on the menu and generally, the food looked fantastic. Portion sizes were generous. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. The favorite dishes appeared to be the ribeye, shaking beef, fried rice, and bun cha gio noodle boats. It’s too bad the ribeye and shaking beef aren’t on the regular menu. Reaction to the banh mi was mixed at best with criticisms directed towards the bread and price. I tried a sample of the phở broth and the way Nomie makes it is different than other phở restaurants in town. The broth is chicken-based and includes a heavy dose of star anise with a squeeze of lime. It definitely packs more of a punch than your typical beef-based phở broth. It’s potent and tangy. I prefer to squeeze the lime juice in myself, personally. Nomie is Vietnamese, but was raised in the American South. Her Vietnamese dishes are authentic, but she does sometimes add variations(e.g. the chicken-based phở broth) which make her dishes a little bit different from the rest of the Vietnamese restaurants in Atlanta. A welcome change. I think food truck goers will be pleased.

I gotta admit, I had high expectations before coming here as the idea of a Vietnamese food truck was awesome. I ended up going to the actual store located on buford highway and maybe my expectations were too high? Yes, the owners are super nice and very enthusiastic about their food. 5 stars for service. However the 3 stars come from the food /pricing. There menu in the store was limited but given that they are a food truck business, I wasn’t going to dock any points for lack of choices. I ordered spring rolls, egg rolls, and some bahn mi(grilled pork). The banh mi was a whopping $ 5 and the egg roll/spring roll were $ 4 and all drinks even water(bottle) $ 1. Being that the café is located on buford high which is FILLED with vietnamese restaurants, this place has a lot to compete with. The sandwich: small, tasty, and not the best I’ve had. It’s a good 70% smaller than other places on buford and it’s about $ 2 – 3 more expensive. I would much rather go somewhere else for banh mi. Egg roll/spring roll: Fresh, balanced, and reasonable. I could tell the spring rolls were wrapped fresh and made when ordered. This is just a review for the café. Even if the truck was around, i don’t think i’d get a sandwich from them for $ 5 bucks. That’s 2 huge(regular) bahn mis else where here in atlanta! If prices go down, I will revisit. Til then, 10+ other places to go to on buford.

This review is for the café only. Have not had a chance to experience the food truck. Side note: I always think of marijuana leaves when I first see pictures of the truck for some reason. Am I the only one? V-N is easy to find. In the same plaza as Karaōke Melody 2 and Subway, also where Maum Bakery and myriad businesses have come and gone. There are five green and white picnic benches inside that each seat four people, and not a whole lot else on the inside. Also a bit sparse was the menu with just five items: cha gio, phở, bun cha gio, banh mi and fried rice. After seeing pictures of delicious food all over their FB page, I was expecting more but I guess those were daily specials. My bun cha gio( ) was tasty, but the portion could have been more generous. When I think more about my whole experience, it’s as though the truck is the main idea and the café was an afterthought. Reasoning? Price and portions. Prime example, the banh mi is $ 4.95. When you’re buying the sandwiches out of a truck at your office in midtown or at a food truck park, that’s a reasonable price considering your limited banh mi options. On Buford Hwy though, that’s a ballsy price when you’re up against the likes of Lee’s and Quoc that each charge about 40% less. Similarly, my bun cha gio. Reasonable price and portion out of a truck, but I’ve had bun cha gios that are double V-N’s size on Buford Hwy at Phở 24, Nam Phuong and other spots. I think V-N has potential to be a 4-star. Again, the food is good… just need more options on the menu, bigger portions and/or lower pricing to be more competitive with all the other establishments up and down(mostly down) Buford Hwy. It will also be interesting to experience the truck in the wild.

4-star for the idea of food truck, 3-star for what I had in their café. I saw Viet Nomie’s on Scoutmob(a free banh mi) and decided to give it a try. Their café is located OTP on Buford Highway, not so close to the regular BuHi restaurants. The café looks like a deli. Not many options — phở(chicken or pork), steak w/rice, summer rolls and banh mi etc. A cute little girl(maybe the owner’s daughter) did a great job as a cashier. I ordered phở with beef and also got a free banh mi thanks to Scoutmob. The phở looks very difference from what I usually have in a traditional Vietnamese phở joint: no herbs/mung bean sprouts coming on a separate plate; there was some shredded herbs in the broth and I got a tiny wedge of lime. And it comes in a paper bowl, like an instant noodle. I don’t want to judge too quickly but I said dine-in. As for the food, I would say it is much like home made thus the quality of ingredients is better and it is low in sodium. It is said that they don’t use MSG. It may be a little bit lack of flavor but no MSG! The French bread they uses is also better than other banh mi joints. Of course you’ll pay about 30−40% more. The service is excellent. Nomie accommodates special needs like vegan or food allergies. Viet Nomie’s doesn’t stand out for flavor but they are really serious with their business by choosing better ingredients, not adding MSG and providing great service. I want to support local business like this. 11⁄100 Unilocal 365 Challenge

We walked into the Viet-Nomie space for lunch. It is a brightly colored spot on the northern part of Doraville’s Buford Highway, though the website and Unilocal address are insisting this is «Atlanta”-proper. There are only about 4 – 5 small, metal ‘picnic’ bench-style tables so Viet-Nomie is clearly a «take-out» spot … and obviously a work-in-progress. My phone was in my hand as I approached the order counter. The little man asked me «Are you here for Scoutmob?» Well, sure… I guess so … The truth is — I was really there for some of those enticing items they have posted on this very Unilocal page. But none of those items appear to be available(?!?) … are those the kind of foods that are planned to spin out of that food truck or would they be apt to be served from a stationary kitchen? The very first photo on this page proclaims it to be «Our customer’s favorite dish! Ribeye steak —«but it is not served here so where have these customers been able to rate this item??? As of this visit, there were no printed menus available and the only«menu board» is composed of six photos of foods, with no text or prices… We both decided on phở and Banh Mi as take-out. Most of their food is packaged in eco-friendly containers so that’s good if you plan to start up a truck. Final analysis: Unilocal’s «Two Star» rating indicates«I’ve had better» … and I have… At this point, Viet-Nomie’s phở and banh mi(meat was skimpy, bread was sort of Publix-Bakery-y) can’t hold a candle to Lee’s Bakery or Huy’s Sandwich. I will return at some point to see if Viet-Nomie has made any strides in putting these other items on the menu … and even putting out some menus. But despite all the enthusiastic and filtered reviews, it a Two star for us right now.
