After being turned down or talked down to by several other tailors in the area, we came here to alter my fiancé’s suit for our wedding. A little back story: we went to four other tailors in the area, all of whom refused to alter the suit. Nothing too complicated had to be done — the jacket and sleeves needed to be shortened, as did the vest, and the pants needed to be hemmed. However, we were told that since the suit is made of linen it could not be altered, and were told to choose a different suit from each tailor’s shop(yeah, right). Exasperated and losing hope, we walked into J. Barbaro(also called Custom Fit Tailoring). The tailor(also the owner I believe) had my fiancé try on his suit and immediately said it would not be a problem. He couldn’t believe that we were told that linen couldn’t be altered. He quickly and deftly marked up the suit, pinning it to show us where the new lengths would fall. He gave us a 15% discount on the tailoring, and it came to around $ 90, which we paid in advance. He was very polite and professional the entire time, even inquiring about our wedding plans and how we met. When we came back to pick up the suit, my fiancé tried it on to make sure that everything was correct. We couldn’t believe the job he had done, especially after being told that these alterations were«impossible». The suit looks like new, no visible indication that it has been altered. It fits my fiancé perfectly, with everything falling exactly where it should. We were so happy with the way the suit fits that we gave him a cash tip making up the 15% discount. Understand, this is very out of character for my fiancé, who is not from this country and doesn’t like to tip except for exceptional service(as is the custom where he is from). The tailor/owner tried to turn down the tip, but we insisted. We will definitely be returning with other tailoring/alteration needs, and have referred our friends to him. From our experience, he is the best and most professional tailor in the area.
