American Cancer Society Discovery Shop

Salvation Army is much better. It’s mostly the stuff you find at every thrift store with business hours you find everywhere and located among furious competition. New Hope treasures is closing too, and their practically giving away the store.

Wow, what a clean organized store!
Didn’t find anything for myself, but would say ladies of a bit older age group would likely find some great clothing here!
Some seasonal do-​dads and jewelry in the case up front.
It’s bright and nice to shop in, check it out!

OMG. What a difference a day makes! I came by the next morning when they opened up and was able to score a Louis Vutton, Coach and Dooney & Bourke wallets and 3 Coach purses. I found some great designer clothes at amazing prices. The manager, the lady in charge of the changing room and the cashiers were so personable and helpful. A few of ladies let me know of their bi-​yearly donation event where if you donate $ 20 you will get 25% off that day’s purchase… And any you purchase you make at any of their stores for the next 30 days. What an amazing deal.
I did see that mean old lady that told me «no» the day before. She didn’t say anything to me or even smile. Which I brushed off since the other ladies’ personalities more than made up for her negativity.
All worked out and I made out like a bandit! The ladies let me know there was another one of their stores in the next town I was traveling to. I went, but not as impressed as I was with the Auburn store. Now, every Discovery Shop will have to live up to the Auburn standard & they set the bar pretty high.

I hesitated taking some of my nicer items in to this shop for many years because I wasn’t sure how quick and easy it would be to drop off. Last time I saved some special household items that were on the «nicer» side and just parked behind the back of the store. If no one is standing outside, it’s quick and easy to knock on the door and give them to one of the volunteers. That’s it!

This is a great location for the Cancer Society. It is in a busy shopping center, but there is always a ton of parking.
The store is good size, but there isn’t a lot of product in it. They do have some great items and they are always in great used condition.
The store is a higher priced thrift store. It all goes to a great cause though! The employees are all volunteers and extremely nice.
I’ve been in this location a couple of times and always walk out with at least one item. It’s definitely worth checking out in the Placer County thrift circuit.
