Clipper Gap-Oliver’s Station

Been to Oliver’s many times now. Small business with a little of everything. Friendly service and customers. And yes a beer bar with a nice selection of bottled craft brews. Sure gas may not be the cheapest but worth the stop. Nice to be able to support a community institution.

Locals and the coldest beer in town: It’s a laugh a minute.

Negative Stars! My wife and I were on our way to Tahoe and needed gas and she told me to avoid Oliver’s and I told her «it’s a mom and pop place and the big chain stations get all the money, let’s support the locals.» BOY DID WE — LATER THAT NIGHT WE GET A CALL FROM OUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND WITH IN A FEW HOURS HE (assume the owner –about 50 everyone knew him well but really did not know) WAS OUT BUYING SMALL ITEMS — JEANS, ETC… ALL LOCAL STUFF IN AUBURN — HE HAS DONE THIS BEFORE TO A LOT OF PEOPLE AND THE OLD GUY GETS AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE THE PURCHASES ARE SMALL SO THE CREDIT CARD COMPANIES WILL NOT GO AFTER HIM. I BET IF I STOLE A CANDY BAR HE WOULD PRESS CHARGES AND THE AUBURN POLICE WOULD HALL ME IN. MY WIFE HAD FELT SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND WHEN WE PULLED UP I TOLD HER TO RELAX — WELL SHE WAS RIGHT. THE MAN SAW A BMW AND A COUPLE FROM OUT OF TOWN HE HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE AND HE RIPPED US OFF. HE ASKED ME FOR ID AND HE TOOK A LONG TIME CHECKING IT OUT WHILE ALSO HOLDINGIT UP HIGH TO THE CAMERA JUST OVER HIS HEAD WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD? HE SHOULD GET ARRESTED — HE HAS BEEN RIPPING OFF LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT LOCALS.
He may seem like a nice person trying to get by but when it comes down to it he is a flippen dishonest person, so to all you nice local older gentleman sitting at the bar you now know your bud is — a liar, thief — how would you feel if you was doing it to you!
If Auburn Police would like to contact me it would be great — perhaps if others will come forward — we can all do something and have him pick up litter on the freeway for a couple of years!

I hope you have learned a valuable lessson, if I had the time I would have got the police involved.
Out of kindeness I will modify this in a few months so as not too hurt your business but if I hear of someone else having the same problem you know you will get investigated. I may come by thisweekend or call you. I wonder if you can say sorry? Just come clean??? Then I will let if go.
Oh, on another note it was smart to grab my pin number off the back when I ran outside to get my ID I left in the car. Also smart to hold it way over your head pretending to try to see it so the camera over you can grab the info as well. I remeber that so well because it was so damn odd. It was like you were stretching but then froze…
