Elmwood Motel

Worst motel i’ve been in the US. Even worse than most of the inns I know in Brazil. The carpet on the floor was disgusting, both chairs were dirty, the beds were horribly uncomfortable, i woke up several times during the night. The bathroom wasn’t better, the heated water on the sink came out dirty so I didn’t even bother to brush my teeth. And that wasn’t all: the isolation of the room and toilet gave me the feeling that the trucks on the street were driving around my bed in circles.

Tweaker central. Mold on the walls. Half the blinds are broken off. The bed is stained. there’s a guy next door beating up a girl. The balcony is leaning over like it’s about to fall off. It smells like piss SOOO bad in here. How is this place still in business? Doesn’t Placer county have a health dept? Oh and in the morning the owner was drying the «clean» sheets and towels on the dirty balcony where people were smoking.

We got snowed on while camping at a music festival in Soda Springs and I had only packed a flannel shirt and sandals so we bailed out and came down the hill to Auburn and needed a place to stay. This place rented us a room for cheap and a bunch of other people from the festival we were at ended up at the same hotel that night so we just hung out on the balcony like degenerates and the owner was cool about it. The beds were fine and the rooms were fine. CHEAP MOTEL.

Well where to begin… this place sucks. Its one of those buildings that NEEDS to be ripped down. Outdated and rotting are the words that best describe this poor excuse for lodgings. The only redeming atribute my room had was a tv that was ok and a microwave that worked and was clean. If you stay here bring booze and mind altering substances. You’ll want to do anything you can to forget where you are.
No wifi. (Not surprising)
Furniture that looks like it came freom a demolished hilton.
Carpet that looks like it was new in 1981.
A desk staff that will quote you a low price over the phone and then try and tack an additional $ 20 on the room price when you show up.
Other than decent appliances and $ 40 for a night (if your willing to call the deskman a crook to his face) there is no redemming value here.

I Paid $ 56.00 for This Room and All I Got Was a Decent Bed and Gray Towels?
I was locked out of the empty house that was to be my home for the week. I didn’t want to spend $ 86.00 at Best Western or $ 105.00 at Holiday Inn. I’d seen this place on the web and maybe in those «Discount Highway Hotel» flyers. I thought I’d get off cheap. Auburn is not in the Fall ’09 flyer. It was 11 PM when I arrived. I took a room. Nice quiet place. Good bed. Renovation was completed — in some other room than the one I got.
