Great food and service. Friendly people and super creative menu. Love the Thai rice bowl and the veggie lasagna was amazing. My wife is a veggie but I eat here and don’t miss meat. Totally delish!!!

My husband and I have a limited diet and it is so nice to have someplace to stop and eat when we are in auburn. The staff is warm and very helpful. Our all time favorite treat is the chai latte made with their homemade cashew milk. So good!

I dined here in early Dec. 2015 after googling«vegetarian» while driving through Auburn. Was thrilled to find this cute place with healthy, colorful food. I had grilled portobello mushroom tacos & they were great. In early Jan. this month, my vegan husband, visiting father-in-law and I drove to Auburn for my bday. I wanted to do something mellow for the day so we perused the antique shops and then went to Nectar Café for lunch(which was going to be the highlight of my day, I thought). The sweet girl who took our orders at the counter signed us up for a Reward thing & said something about free dessert on your bday. My husband said«It’s her bday today».(I couldn’t recall if I’d signed up for the card thing on my first visit to Nectar or not, but my name came up on her screen after I gave an email or phone#). All three of us had wonderful entrees. I also had a yummy green juice. After our meal, I went up to the counter & said to the gentleman there that the other woman had said ‘something about dessert on your birthday’. He goes«Happy Birthday!!» then hastily disappeared toward the back. I awkwardly stood at the counter waiting for him to return or explain the Reward thing– if I had been mistaken or misunderstood how it worked(?) It was embarrassing. After awhile, I just left. Would be helpful if everyone got on the same page about their Rewards explanation. Otherwise, I would recommend the food here. But can’t give 5 stars since they made me feel like a moron for asking about dessert

Not a great flow, happy there is a vegetarian restaurant around here. Staff are inexperienced. Food is quality.

Fantastic lunch spot! Healthy food, very little oil and grease used, generally very satisfying. Not a great place if you’re in a hurry — the food takes a while to prepare, but is well worth the wait as everything is freshly made. They really cater to vegetarians/vegans, in particular enjoyed the Supreme Nachos and Chile Verde Enchiladas. Fantastic experience overall, would love to go again sometime!

Roy owner super nice and friendly. Ordered a almond butter, strawberry jam on gluten free bread. Bread was funky. Couldn’t really taste almond butter or strawberry jam, as the taste of bread was funky. But will go again and try something different. I like how they cater to gluten-free and vegan eaters. Great spot in popular shopping area.

My husband and I brought 3 of our grandchildren here yesterday for lunch. I am vegan, they are not. My husband and I drove to Auburn from Placerville, and the kids’ mom brought them to Auburn from the Marysville area. We had decided on Auburn as sort of a halfway point for both parties to meet at, and I chose this restaurant because it is a veg restaurant, which is important to me. You have to order your food at the front counter, and they bring it to you some time later. The service seemed a bit slow, even though there weren’t many customers there. The people working there were pretty nice, though, so that’s something on the plus side. I ordered the Mediterranean wrap, which was fine, but nothing to write home about. My two granddaughters, ages 10 and 12, each ordered the house salad — one with the balsamic vinaigrette it comes with as a standard, and the other changed it out for the creamy basil dressing. At first, they said their salads were okay, though I could tell they were just being polite. They both eventually admitted they didn’t really like their salads and pushed them away. Okay, spring mix can be a bit overwhelming, taste-wise, to kids who were raised on iceberg lettuce and don’t really care about the nutritional value of the food they’re eating. I get that. I did try to talk them into ordering something else at the beginning, knowing it would probably be like that, but apparently they felt this would be the one«safe» thing on the menu. I helped them to finish their salads, and found them to be somewhat lacking in other veggies, and neither of the dressings was particularly impressive. I suppose the dearth of other veggies is pretty typical of any house salad, though, so no real surprise there. My 14-year old grandson ordered the Southwestern wrap, and after a couple of bites decided it needed to be smothered with the Cholula hot sauce. After that, he seemed to think it was okay. All 3 of the kids ordered the pomegranate-flavored Italian soda, which no one thought tasted very much like pomegranate. I tasted them myself, and thought they tasted more like barely flavored water. My husband ordered the roasted red pepper portabella mushroom sandwich, which sounded like it should have been delicious, but he said the bread was very dry and crumbly(gluten-free, no doubt), and his comment was that it would have tasted so much better if they had used Dave’s Killer Bread(which is what we use at home). We weren’t asked if we needed gluten-free bread, so I’m guessing that this must be all they use there. Since the kids were still hungry after finishing their meals, we decided to order dessert for everyone. We had originally ordered 3 chocolate raspberry tarts and 2 of the warm chocolate cakes. After some time, they informed us that they only had 2 of the tarts, and offered vegan banana bread with chocolate chips as a substitution for the third one. Since the kids weren’t interested in substituting, I went ahead and accepted that one. I’m glad I did, as the tarts weren’t really all that great, as it turned out, and the banana bread was actually pretty decent. Neither my husband nor my granddaughter liked the chocolate cake much. My husband said it tasted like sand(gluten-free strikes again?). I didn’t even try it, as it wasn’t vegan, so I’ll have to take his word on that. So, after dropping $ 100 on lunch for 5, I have to say it was a pretty disappointing experience. I really would love to be able to give this restaurant high marks. I really, really would. If I had been there alone, it would have been okay — and much less expensive. The food does seem to be so much more nutritious than in most restaurants, so that is something else on the plus side. But I wouldn’t recommend taking non-vegans(or non-vegetarians, or people who don’t want or need their food to be gluten-free) to this restaurant. Based on my one experience here, I really don’t think this restaurant would ever convert anyone to veganism, or even vegetarianism. If you’re in the greater Sacramento area, and you want to expose someone to the joys of veganism(or vegetarianism), I would highly recommend taking them to Sunflower in Fair Oaks. The service at Sunflower is probably about as slow, but the food there is *really* tasty — if not quite as nutritious.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch together today. She had the Thai Bowl and I had the Southwestern Bowl. Both were very filling, and delicious! I highly recommend Nectar Café if you’re looking for quality food with a nice atmosphere to enjoy it in.

I’ve eaten at Nectar Café 3 – 4 dozen times now, and the experience has been marvelous each time. Service is routinely perfect and the food is almost too-good-to-be-true(it’s amazing that healthy food can taste this good!). Today, I had their awesome split pea soup, although I think I have tried everything on their menu. Usually, I bring my dog and we eat at the outside patio. What a gem Nectar Café is. Thanks, Tomi and Roy!

Came here not only because is it the best healthiest resturant in Auburn but because I was really in the mood for some warm soup. I came in on a Friday night, ordered a jamaica/hibiscus hot tea and their lentil soup which was sooo good! It tasted the same way I make it at home so that was a good thing. My husband ordered the(vegan) chorizo nachos which he loved!!! He did not know it was vegan!

This is my new favorite healthy lunch spot… Maybe dinner too! We had their Buddha Bowl, coconut red lentil soup and salad. All were excellent. Just wish I took pictures before devouring this meal! It’s so nice to find a restaurant with not only healthy food options but gluten free, dairy free options and vegan options! YAY!!! Thank you Nectar Café!!!

I drove to Auburn to check out Nectar Café’s vegan challenge menu. Alas, they only had some items available and the rest on weekends. What I had was great and I like their offerings on the regular menu and on their challenge menu. I probably wouldn’t have come across Nectar Café without the challenge. When I go to Auburn, it’s for some hiking and I don’t hang out around town but now I can stop by for a bite or some juice. They also serve my favorite coffee in Sac, Chocolate Fish! It’s a small café with indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter, they give you a number to take to your table, they bring you your order. Utensils and water are to the left of the register for you to help yourself. On weekend dinner services, I think they have table service. I’ve yet to check that out but I think I read that somewhere in the café. They serve Organic Vegetarian food and have Vegan options as well. juice, smoothies, coffee. I look forward to trying more of their food. Super busy.

We eat vegan whenever possible and can say with delight that this is the best vegan fare we have had anywhere. The amazing food, pleasant atmosphere and lovely staff all contribute to the highest rating available. The prices are quite reasonable, too. I wish it was closer to where we live… we’d be here all the time!

I really love this café and have been here 3 times. Their food is fresh and healthy food that tastes delicious. At dinner and for the Valentines special dinner they have table service and at lunch you order at the counter. I recommend that they take down the sign at dinner that tells you to order at the counter instead of telling EVERYONE who comes in that they have table service and then switching out their menu. confusing and awkward and unnecessary. The table service needs a little work as it is clunky, unorganized and not polished but friendly and earnest. It seems like they are a work in progress and I work that I will continue to support and I feel like they are on the right track. The food as been the unifying factor and it is always good. I had the Pad Thai that was made with zucchini«noodles». This was served cold and refreshing on a warm day. Yum.

I ordered the Jamaican burger. It was good, but not awesome, and I really could have done without the side of corn chips. But that’s not why I’m giving it 5 stars. There’s desperately few vegan options in the greater Sacramento area(and I should know, I’ve been coming up here before most people even knew what it meant), and this place has a bunch of options, which I’m sure I’ll try on another visit. Not only that, I ordered an off menu bean and cheese burrito for my son, which was apparently great and we got an Italian soda free with Unilocal checkin and then accidentally doubled. The owner came and personally checked on everyone even though it was extremely busy, apologized for the meal delay(it came out in a perfectly reasonable amount of time) and we talked a bit. The vegan lime torte was good too, although not blown away. It’s obvious he cares a great deal. This place is clearly a local favorite, and there was a huge line to order. I also had some odd encounters: A woman at one of the tables kept waving at me, thought I was her friend Will(she looked like Zooey Deschanel as it happened) The owner was sure I’d been in the previous day, but it was my first visit. The woman behind me in line looked like Jeri Ryan(you know, 7 of 9). I did run into my doppelgänger a couple of years ago in Grass Valley, so who knows. Anyway, come here for your fake celebrity encounters, but stay for the food.
