Shamrock Sandwich Shop & Delicatessen

The sandwiches are good when they make them correctly. They mess up orders and don’t have ingredients all the time. They make ordering a pain and they are just not nice people on the phone. I have moved on to other establishments after giving them multiple chances.

Stop by today on a rainy day… Called in my order, was told it would take 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches and fries, very reasonable.
Had a nice little parking lot, with room for about 8 cars. This place looked very nice and clean, they close at 7, more of a take out joint.
I got the township, which was around $ 8.50, it was a little extra because it comes with avocado but I’m worth it. Unfortunately, the avocado was very green, it was like finding out the ugly girl you made out with when you were drunk was your cousin.
My gf ordered a chicken salad club sandwich, which had tons of large crispy bacon and was super delicious, around $ 7.90. We also split a order of fries around $ 3.50, very large and good, can definitely feed 3 people.
Will definitely come back, I guess my green avocado was the luck of the Irish.

Finally had a chance to order cheesesteaks and a hoagie from Froggies.
Hands down, once of the best cheesesteaks I’ve had in many a moon. I couldn’t believe I ate an entire regular but I couldn’t stop because it was so good.
As far as the hoagie, I had a Shamrock Italian and it was fantastic. The hot cappicola and nice sharp provolone made for one great sandwich!

I used to frequent this place. Loved their soup and sandwiches. Their corn chowder especially was excellent. They have screwed up my orders on occasion. They can be slow in getting your order. I have stopped going there. The Manager is very sweet. I was dining at another restaurant for lunch with my children and I witnessed the owner drunk at the bar being so vulgar and insulting. It was really bad. He was making a scene and everyone was looking at him. My kids included. It was 12 noon. I was surprised they did not ask him to leave. When I mentioned this to our server she actually told me that he frequently acts like that and has been asked to leave many times. I feel uncomfortable going back to his deli, I feel like I’d be supporting someone who is not a very nice person. I wish I had not witnessed his behavior that day, but I did and it is what it is.

Checked out the Unilocal reviews so we decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately our experience wasn’t as good as other reviewers. At first impression, the deli is clean, the menu is extensive, and everything looks fresh and homemade. We were thoroughly excited! However our experience went downhill from there. We sat at counter for 10 minutes and no one would acknowledge us, let alone take our order. There was one other customer ahead of us that ordered a Caesar salad. As we patiently waited for them to take our order we watched a woman prepare a chicken caesar salad with her bare hands. No gloves, no hand washing, and no thought to safe food handling practices. Finally, they take our order. Chicken cutlet with cheese, lettuce and tomato and an American hoagie with a side of hot peppers. When we got home there were no hot pepper and both sandwiches were made with little care. (See attached picture)

I go ever once in a while and am always happy with the food. But today I ordered a grilled buffalo chicken salad. Might have been the best salad I have ever had! I suggest everyone to eat here even if it just a salad or sandwich. The kitchen staff definitely knows what they’re doing!

Great local place to get food at! Whether it’s a sandwich for dinner or a platter for a party, they do not disappoint.

Went there for the first time today. Got a Shamrock Italian and some potato salad and chicken salad. Great portion of meat on the hoagie, very fair prices and great service.

Called again for delivery 30 minutes prior to closing at 6:30 PM and was told that they don’t have delivery because they «let their guy go home since we close in 20 minutes». Makes no sense and horrible business practices. Who is running this place?

Holy crap! This place makes a good sandwich. Granted, I try not to eat hoagies etc., too often (I’m getting a little too old for that:)). But, when I have a craving for an Italian Hoagie, Shamrock is my go to place. I had a cheese-​steak there for the first time recently. It was delicious! Many of the local sandwich shops sort of skimp on the meat. Not Shamrock. They really pack the meat in and serve the cheese-​steak on the softest rolls. So good… They also have really high quality deli meats.
The new owners have made some really great changes to this place. Next time you get a hankering for a delicious sandwich, hoagie, or cheese-​steak — GO HERE!

Also, «Gene D»!!! Why would you give the place 2 stars if you didn’t even try it!!! You should take Ur Amato hoagies and shove them up Ur ass!!! Nobody cares about Ur stupid advertisment on who makes the best hoagie in SJ, you DOOSH-​BAG!!!

I ordered the Special Turkey sandwich for my first visit earlier this week and can honestly say that it was the best hoagie I’ve ever had. The meet/​cheese/​bread were fresh and cut super-​thin (just the way I like it). I never visited the Shamrock before the new ownership took over, but considering the amazing sandwiches & friendly service (plus the fact that it’s a unique little shop with character), I think this place will develop a «must visit if in the area» status over time.
I highly, highly recommend trying this place out.

Big fan of Shamrock! Call ahead and have your deli meats ready for pick up or also have any type of sandwich ready. They get their rolls from Del Buonos and also sell some of the Del Buonos rolls in the deli. Great for platters if you are hosting. They also make their own homemade ham and turkey. The potato and macaroni salad are great! Can’t speak high enough of them. Service is great! Ditch the grocery store lunch meats and give this place a try!
