A wonderful park to take kids and adults to! I took my four year old, and she had so much fun going down hidden mysterious stairs. Well, those were not that hidden from adult point of view :), but for her it was very magical. River is pretty and waterfalls are cute! I enjoyed this park very much! Restrooms are clean! We didn’t have a chance to try, but I can imagine how nice canoe or bike ride can be!

Stopped by here on a rally. This place is beautiful. You can stand in Georgia and take a picture of South Carolina. The park is well set up, but beware, there are lots of steps and hills. Well maintained.

Here for a company 5K. Beautiful place to get in a run, walk, or dog. They have Kayaks that you can rent. I can’t wait to explore this place in depth. And bring some friends here.

If you’re needing some time outside and want a place to relax, this is one of the best places to do it in Augusta. Just to hear the water running is relaxing in itself, but the views are something else. If you are looking to do a long distance run, this is a great place to do it. I came here to run ten miles(five out and five back in) and found out that there is a waterfall right around five miles that is really pretty and a nice place for a quick rest. I like that you see so many people with dogs, people kayaking, riding bikes, etc. Especially love when the lights come on at night.

We LOVE coming here every time we’re in Augusta. We ride our bikes from here all the way into town and back, which makes for a pleasant ride along the river. One day we’ll kayak from here, but in the mean time, we love spending a sunny afternoon on this awesome trail! Safe, well-trod, and absolutely stunning. What a gem!

The Butler High School classes of 68, 69, 70, and 71 recently had their 45th reunion here. It’s an excellent venue, clean, and plenty of room. If you are looking for a different venue from hotels to hold an event, you should consider this place.

What an incredible place to have in Augusta. It’s beautiful to be able to escape to this place that runs along the Savannah River. The trail actually runs between the Canal and the River. It’s stunning. The trail is well kept, marked with mileage and signs notifying you of your location and distance to the next spot. I always feel safe. You can rent kayaks, take long walks, have a picnic. There’s a playground, and the Pavillion is available for rent. There’s lots of parking. If you live in Augusta or even are just visiting you owe it to yourself to get out and spend some time in this beautiful place!

This spot is definitely one of the most premier parks in the Augusta, Evans, Martinez area and my families favorite. The center is right at the mouth of the historical Augusta canal and parallels the Savannah River for some sweeping views. The best time to go is right at sunrise while you’re on the trail and catch it rising over the river — a peaceful site. As for the Center itself, the area is well-manicured and taken care of. The main building is big enough for a medium sized wedding party while the other surrounding buildings are useful for family reunions and BBQ’s. The center has a wealth of information about the region and the history of the canal. Be sure to go by the old damn building with a lock so you can hang it on the rails. This place is a must if you are an outside spirit so get on the trail for a little run, walk, bike, hike, or canoe!

The Savannah Rapids pavilion is the perfect place to park when you want to enjoy the outdoors. We’ve come down here several times to kayak along the canal, but on this particular occasion we came to run along the Augusta Canal trail. Between the Savannah Rapids Pavilion and Chafee Park in downtown, it is about 5.5 miles. This is the perfect place for a long or a short run. I ran 3 miles out and 3 back this time, but some days I go down and back the full trail.

This is a beautiful recreation park, although it wasn’t our original destination, I’m very pleased it’s where we ended up. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The barbecue pit is located near the banks of the rapids and is a perfect spot to spend the day relaxing and enjoying the pretty views.

Beautiful!!! The area to the East of the river needs to be maintained better. It has a gate that is suppose to prevent people from walking on a very dangerous area… but the little gate is easy to bypass. But this was one of the pretties parks I’ve been to. I never knew Augusta had such pretty areas! Waterfalls, beautiful water and trees.

A great place for nature walks, biking, kayaking, and wedding venue. I really enjoyed the fun in the sun. The lady at the welcome center wasn’t that welcoming. But overall it was a great experience.

One of the prettier places in Augusta. Enjoy a nice walk with canal & river views or check out the little stream & waterfalls. Word of warning: It can get boiling hot along the path in the summer because of the direct sunlight. Bring water & don’t walk too far in one direction with your dog, because if they start getting too hot you still have to walk all the way back.

The beauty of Augusta can easily be underestimated, but with the variety of scenery near the pavilion you can be lost in its allure. The Savannah Rapids Pavilion is located just above the headgates on the Savannah river and provides to be a beautiful location for photography. On Fri-Sun you’ll see family members taking candids and professionals holding mini photoshoots. The old rock walls and outstanding background turn out so well with the varying light/shade. The Augusta Canal Company was formed over 160 years ago and is still in decent condition. The canal is 9 miles long, 11′ deep, 150′ wide at the surface and capable of producing 14,000 horsepower. This fury can be seen with the power of the river roaring behind you at the headgate. From the beginning the canal has been used for recreation, social events and escape from the city. In the 1840’s boats charged 50¢ to take passengers up the canal and while prices may have rose, the beauty is still worth every penny. Take the time to go kayaking, snap some photos, bike down the trails or simply sit on a bench to soak in nature.
