I had a terrible experience with Care Clinics in Aurora. I needed an evaluation done and the receptionist told me it would take 45 – 60 minutes, so I scheduled my appointment before work. Once I got there, I sat down with Scott who was very condescending and was actually sending text messages while I answered his questions. I tried to make a few jokes and be friendly but he was was all business and made me feel like I was being judged. Then I finished the initial interview and they gave me a huge stack of paperwork to fill out. It was hard to focus on it because the receptionist was constantly gabbing about nonsense with another employee(which included making fun of one of their clients!). There was no way I could do all that paperwork in an hour so I was going to have to come back. This irritated me(because I was told it would take 45 – 60 minutes) and I told the receptionist I wanted to cancel my evaluation. I sat there as she told Scott but instead of approaching me and asking«what’s the matter» or whatever, he walked right by like he didn’t give a crap. So, I ended up going to a different place. They were awesome and in the midst of my interview the counselor mentioned that she knew Scott and he’s part-owner and he was a cop. That explained a lot! In retrospect, he totally had the demeanor of a cop who’s suspicious of people and used to dealing with a criminal element of some sort. I am well educated and have dealt with different counselors who have always treated me in a professional manner(almost as a peer at times). But even if you’re not educated, I don’t think you’re going to like dealing with a condescending jerk. Plus, there is the incompetence and unprofessionalism of the other staff.
