It’s difficult to know where to start when talking about the good things I’ve experienced while attending classes at this fabulous Kung Fu School. I first put my two boys in classes here about two years ago and they difference it has made in their behavior is exceptional. They have made steady progress through form and won Gold medals in competitions. I decided to join the Tai Chi classes about a year ago. The Tai Chi taught at this school is at a higher level than anything I have ever experienced. It’s not just«empty» forms and meditation like some schools I have learned from. One really learns to have control over their body through having proper posture and movement within the forms. This Tai Chi is not only beautiful to watch, but functional as a Martial Art. Shortly after starting Tai Chi, I also got into doing Southern Style Kung Fu Forms. This track includes forms from Wing Chun, Dragon, Hung Guar, etc. Training in Southern Style Kung Fu is one of the most difficult(and rewarding) training I have ever experienced. The forms give you no choice but to become stronger and more flexible. And once again, this isn’t just learning a bunch of forms. We learn the principles behind the form, the application, and do conditioning. It’s awesome! And then there are the weapon forms! There are numerous weapons one may learn at this school… Straight Sword, Broad Sword, Staff, Grass Sickle, Spear, Hook Swords, Butterfly Swords and on and on and on. And once again, you learn the principles behind the use of the various weapons. That allows one to integrate them into pretty much any form they learn(if they choose.) Once again, totally awesome! And as for the method of instruction, I find it to be firm but gentle. Sifu Timmer is an all around wonderful person. And when it comes to his knowledge of Chinese Kung Fu, I don’t know anyone better here in Colorado. He works with you along every step of the way to make sure you are understanding the movements and performing them correctly. Sifu has been a catalyst in my training that has lead to me learning more in the past year and few months than I could have ever imagined. I can’t wait to see how I will progress over then next year or three years or five years. Wow. And as for the atmosphere. My fellow students are all wonderful people with varying backgrounds and abilities. There is an essence of friendly competition and camaraderie between the student. It’s a friendly atmosphere where we are all like family. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn Chinese Kung Fu/Tai Chi. Especially for those who have kids, as it will not only develop martial arts skill, but good character! I would advise everyone to come in and experience this school for themselves.

I first trained here in January of 2011. I was only visiting Denver, but was so impressed with the instructor, that when I moved back to Denver I immediately found the school again. The students here are very helpful, and welcoming to new students. Sifu Tony spends a great deal of time in one on one instruction with all of the students, making it a very unique experience from most martial arts school I have been involved in. I very strongly recommend this school to individuals of all skill levels interested in Kung Fu, or Tai Chi.

I have been coming to the Denver Shaolin Tai Ji Institute since August 2012. The flexibility in the amount of classes I can take is a huge plus for me. Missing a class doesn’t feel like I missed a class at school. Sifu Tony is a great teacher and will always make time for all his students. Unlike some other places I have been to you are instructed personally one-on-one. Even when I had moved away I still kept in touch with my teacher until I came back and got right back on it. The other students are very friendly and are very diverse. A very unique place to train where it feels like you are a part of the family. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place if you are looking to train in Traditional Kung Fu.
