Just had one of the worst service experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. We had a group of about 20 people with a reservation. When we arrived the server waited on 3 couples and then disappeared. The next group waited over 15 minutes for her to reappear to take drink orders. When asked if we could order our meals too she said no she needed to get the drinks first. The drinks(beer and wine) took another approximately 20 minutes and then she started taking the food orders. There was no rhyme or reason to how the orders came out but many of those who ordered last received their food first. The entire time the servers attitude was more and more nasty and didn’t give a damn. After 90 minutes our order had not come and the entire group was done eating and when asked about our meal she said too many orders were placed at the same time and it shouldn’t be much longer and spun on her heals and left. We left without eating our meal! A) don’t take a large group there and B) if you get a server with an attitude leave without ordering. Dont’ even know how the food quality is because the service was so horrible.

My husband and I ate dinner here tonight(Saturday night) with our 6 year old. The place is in a strip mall around the perimeter of the Fox Valley Mall. It’s nice enough inside– open and has the cool windows where you can look in on beer being brewed. The food was really delicious– my husb had a burger and LOVED it. I ate the roasted beet salad, and it was tasty with a great mix of flavors, fresh greens and all that. What completely sucked butt about this place is: 1. My husb ordered an iced tea, and they came back to tell us they were out of iced tea. If you are a restaurant you just don’t run out of iced tea. That’s just something you absolutely cannot do. 2. I wanted a fancy girly drink, so I ordered a raspberry mojito. What I was served can only be described as grape soda with mint leaves and lime pieces. It was surreal. It was purple. It had not a drop of alcohol in it. I think you just need to skip any other beverage but beer when you go here, so I’ll return when I’m feeling beer-y.

Had a great Thursday night. Best bartender named John makes the best Long Island Iced Teas. Pulled pork sandwich was amazing. Definitely coming back.

I love this place! Hopvine has a good selection of their own craft beers; my favorite is «The Oaty.» It’s an Oatmeal Stout and it has a dark, rich flavor and goes down smooth with no bitterness. Our server, John is very friendly and attentive. My husband and I each ordered different burgers and they were cooked exactly as we ordered. Portions are large; I couldn’t finish mine and the place is very clean. I have recommended Hopvine to many people and will definitely go back again.

Friendly servers and good food. The prime rib sandwich was delicious and the amber ale brewed onsite was full of flavor. I will be back!

Horrible service on Mother’s day, a table of 9. There were 4 other tables of 3 to 4 people each and two or three people at the bar the during entire time we were there. After ordering(all meals at the same time) we waited 45 plus minutes to get 5 of our meals, ten more minutes to get 3 more and then another ten to get the last meal which was only a bowl of chili! During the wait we only got drink refills when flagging down the waitress(multiple times). Two of the orders were wrong, two were burnt. Before we finished our meals the waitress told us that if we wanted desert we had to order it now, as the night menu did not serve desert. We ordered 2 deserts which took 30 minutes(we times it). During the wait for desert, no waitress to even flag down for more drinks, and we bussed our dishes and glasses onto an adjacent table. We asked for the manager who could really care less, and gave us an excuse that they were extremely busy, I said really with the 4 other tables? Done with them for good! Now I know why the place was empty on mothers day.

Went in for a late lunch on a Sunday. Walked in to the place and there was no host/hostess or server to be found. After waiting 5 minutes, I had to go up to the bar to find out whether we could seat ourselves or if we needed to continue waiting to be seated. After being seated, the service did not improve. It took 40 minutes to get our food. The employees were more interested in talking to each other than they were the customers. I could forgive slow service if the food was great, but this was typical bar food. There are plenty of bars near my home, Hopvine is not worth the drive for this kind of experience.

Terrible experience on Friday. After 85 minutes our main lunch order hadn’t arrived. Two tables that arrived after us had theirs. Ours was a party of two. Does not make sense. The bartender did his best. Management needs to understand one cook and one server on a Friday isn’t enough help. They themselves probably need to look into the mirror and realize they probably don’t need to be managing restaurants any longer. We won’t be back. Ever. Sorry guys.

I will start my review by saying a previous manager was kind to my better half and made an excellent margarita. Tonight’s «Hoprita» was another Rita gone carbonated with the likes of Fox and Hound, White Chocolate Grill and now Hopvine Brewery. If there was an ounce of Tequila it was unnoticeable. Not as nasty as the other two eateries, but an imposter nonetheless. My Rib Eye sandwich tasted great, but was impossible to handle, my hands taking a bath in the course. My side salad had little or no dressing. We live very close and would love to make this a go to place, but alas… the attitude of some is discouraging. I asked the bartender if he could make a Golden Cadillac and he flippantly responded, «I know how to make one… but I have no galiano or blender.» Well. galiano is required, but a blender is not, unless you want to make it with ice cream. Discouraging.

We’ve ordered takeout from here via GrubHub twice and both times have been A-OK(which, for the grubhub offerings in my neck of the woods, is a welcomed respite)! This time, we ordered: beer cheese soup(delicious, and came exceedingly hot), rubbed smokey wings(awful, had zero flavor, greasy, and no ranch or blue cheese), the chicken and waffles(delightful, crispy fried boneless chicken strips atop a crispy, sugary sweet waffle and doused in a jalapeño slaw that actually didn’t taste like jalapeño or slaw), and the bread pudding(good). I can’t speak to the service or atmosphere but the food was packaged well, arrived very hot, and our order was correct. If I’m ever in the Aurora area, I’ll have to stop in and try the full restaurant experience but for now, I’ll enjoy decent takeout when the mood strikes.

We went in again and had dinner on Sat night. We had great service, the food was fantastic and the beer has just gotten better and better. The steak sandwich was unreal. The Mediterranean sampler appetizer was really good. Brew Monkey is probably one of the best local beers I have ever had. The only thing I can suggest for the owners is if there is a game on and people come in turn it on all the tv’s to the game and play the sound for the game. The guy playing his guitar was good but it was the NHL playoffs and the Hawks were playing. Kinda odd.

My husband and I dined here a few weeks ago around 5:30 — 6:00pm… After we almost drove right past! Terrible location. When we first walked in we were surprised to see that we were the only customers there! Especially so close to dinner. We had to wait for someone to come up from the back to assist in seating is. Our server was kind of. Different. He was very quick to walk away when we were speaking with him, even if we weren’t done talking, and since we were the only table there he was asking us how things were from a few tables away. Unprofessional? Onto the meal, our appetizer was delicious — we got the maple pork waffles. For our entrees, we had the pulled pork sandwich and a burger. My husband had the burger and enjoyed his but my pulled pork was extremely dry. The food was pretty overpriced in general as well. We had an alright experience, but probably won’t return.

My reviews tend to be generally positive. Maybe I have been lucky with my choices. Hopvine was unlike any place I have been. Since we are into craft beers we thought that Hopvine might be a good choice. Wrong. Our party of 5 was seated promptly enough but that is when the fun started. Ever have a situation where no one stops by your table to greet you? We did. I actually had to find the hostess to get our server. Interesting that there were seemingly more hostesses than waiters(or so it seemed). We got a variety of beer including a number of the house beers. These we’re some of the most mediocre beers I have ever had. One of us got the beer flight. The golden ale tasted like a Weisse beer, the ’ sour’ tasted like vinegar. We asked if that beer was supposed to taste like that and we emphatically told yes! Even though half of the beer in the flight were essentially undrinkable the manager(beer guy?- maybe we insulted him?) didn’t offer up another beer to try. All in all the beer program, in my opinion, needs to be totally reworked. Thankfully there are other bottled beers and a full liquor bar. Stick with that. The redeeming part is that the food was good. I had the chix wrap which actually was in a pita. The burger was good, chix and waffles was a generous portion and falafel average– not crispy as though maybe sitting around. So 1 star for the beer part 3 for the food. Prologue — I left my phone and when I returned looking for it the hostess had an odd reaction — not very helpful and seemed not too concerned. Staff acted really weird, definitely a odd vibe from the staff. There are better places to go.

I came here for lunch a week ago with my boyfriend-it was our first time here. Upon entering the bar area seems nice enough and the restaurant has an elegant feel to it. We tried a beer flight, appetizer and two meals. The beer was disappointing and most left a very odd aftertaste-which the bartender blamed on «the kegs being low.» Okay… not a good look, especially considering they are supposed to be a brewery. My next big issue is that their descriptions on the menu do not match what they serve you. The chicken and waffles had no jalapeño slaw or maple ginger syrup as promised on the menu… just an overly sweet waffle and a sugary piece of chicken. The roasted beet salad was empty, containing only a handful of arugula, canned beets, and a small amount of chewy pancetta. While I wouldn’t mind trying other menu options, the prices make further sampling not worth it.

I really like this place. The bartender at first was kind of snobby but at the end she turned around and was ok. Maybe she was having a bad day but never take it on your customers. Anyways, I ordered the root beer and it was so good I bought a howler. For dinner, I had the fried chicken and waffles. I’ve had this at other restaurants but never with cole slaw. I say it was different but delicious. My total experience was ok. The food and drinks were good. I recommend this place if you are in Aurora. #SenorFood

Very nice-looking brewery/restaurant. The beers are fairly good and will likely improve as they get more brewing under their belts. The food menu is good, with an interesting variety of options. They also suggest beer pairings with each otem which is a great idea.

A-OK is a good way to explain my experiences at Hopvine. I’ve been here a couple times now. Once just for drinks and a couple apps up at the bar with my husband, and once with a group of 8 for dinner and drinks in their dining area(for my birthday). I’m going to spell this out REAL easy for everyone — with bullet points of course. Here we go… GOOD: — Beer flights: You can choose up to 6 at $ 1.75 each(or maybe $ 1.25, I can’t remember). I enjoyed them all but one! — Spoon Salad: Yummy and great for splitting — Lobster Mac & Cheese(on special): AMAZE. Still thinking about it. — Live acoustic music occasionally — Located conveniently right next to the Comedy Shrine which is bomb dot com BAD: — Service, service service: Slow. Like REALLY slow. Which is not ideal when you’re trying to be on time for a comedy show next store. Wait staff seems uneducated on the menu and beers as well. — Fried pickles: MEH. — Pretzel sticks: Not great when I had them(my sister liked it). Mine were hard to bite into, as opposed to the soft pretzel like app I was expecting. WILL I BEBACK? Most likely. I live nearby so it’s a super convenient place to go grab a beer. I’ll stick to sitting at the bar though if the wait staff doesn’t kick it up a notch. The Mac N Cheese was fantastic so I’ll be back for that too. TIP: If you’re going to Hopvine before a show at the Comedy Shrine, be sure to give yourself PLENTY of time because the servers definitely aren’t in a rush.

5 stars for the beer, about 4.5 for the food, 4 for the bar itself, and about 3 for the atmosphere. Came here on a Friday night and would’ve expected the place to be packed, but it was sparsely populated with a calm, somewhat quiet, beer-loving crowd. Better for us I suppose as we were able to belly right up to the bar. The bartender was very nice, touted the smoked meats when we asked for his opinion. We started with the half sized sampler platter which came with ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken wings, house-made summer sausage and topped with crispy onions strings. All of the meat was fantastic, ribs fells off the bone, chicken and pulled pork had outstanding flavor and weren’t covered in sauce(which we appreciate), but I think the summer sausage was my favorite. I really enjoyed the«Yes, Dear» brew. I’m pretty certain that we’ll be back. Oh, the piece about the atmosphere is pretty much entirely due to the music they play, which is super dated soft rock. Sort of strange and extremely boring for a gastropub on a Friday night. Wish they’d play something a little more modern.
