Let’s get this out of the way first… This place is Americanized Mexican food. Think pepe’s or chi chi’s type food. Now that being said, I’ve eaten here at least 20 times and have never had a bad meal. Everything is good, fresh and comes to your table hot. Staff is always super nice too. Aside from the parking lot being tight at times I really can’t complain

It’s just ok. Americanized Mexican food that’s overpriced, it’s not terrible, but there’s plenty of other places in Aurora with better authentic Mexican food. I’ve had food there that I’ve enjoyed and people that aren’t used to good Mexican food will probably think it’s good, but to me it’s no better than mediocre. With that being said, the service is usually really good and relatively fast.

This place has been around for a long time, it’s a little«kitchy» as far as the décor goes, but the food is well worth the atmosphere. Very good service, staff is very friendly, the owner is there to greet you.

I love Mexican food, and I love Lacabana. Best Pina Coladas around! Best chips and salsa too! Any family owned and ran business in this economy that makes it, has to be doing something right! I’d love to see more of a variety or some specials once in awhile, but this place is quaint and cozy and offers impeccable service, with quality and quantity of food are very comparable to the other places!

Yikes, what a train wreck. DONOT be fooled by its proximity to downtown, this place is the pits. A huge dining room with 40 or more rickety tables populated by 3 people at dinner hour should have been a red flag but my sister made her choice online and could not be dissuaded. The food is a mess in one huge oily puddle on the plate. Basically inedible unless you like huge oily puddles of dough and cheese and rice like you get from a can at Aldi’s. Yuck. She left her«fish» uneaten — it looked like stuff you’d get in an elementary school cafeteria. And you can buy better salsa than this watery soup at any grocery store. I stuck her with the bill and was too embarrassed to ask how much it was. (later) — looking at the 5 star reviews here, all I can think is somebody is paying people to post them.

Been going to this place for the best Mexican food I’ve ever had for over 20 years. Fast fresh food. The closest I’ve had to taste like my Mexican grandmas homemade awesomeness. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is I believe they are are a tad pricier than competitors and I think they could use to have daily drink specials. And I agree with other reviews. Best salsa and guacamole, I would add best rice and beans too.

I have enjoyed La Cabana since I was a child. The staff is very welcoming and friendly when you arrive. Prompt to take your drink order and bring your chips and salsa. The chips are not anything special, but hey who does not like chips and salsa! You get a lot of food on your plate for your money. I have not had a bad dish yet. If you have a hankering for Mexican food on a friday night, I recommend hitting this place, there will not be a wait & you can get on with your night.

Nothing much to write about. Ambience is ok. Prices may suggest as if you’re in Chicago downtown. Worst part is food — no good at all

Honestly the WORST! The worst Margarita we have ever had, bad chips and salsa, overpriced and tasteless guacamole, which was dumped on a plastic plate, no chips or anything to accompany for $ 9, The meal was just as bad, just because everything is covered in bland generic cheese and sauce does not make it in any way good Mexican food. The service was anything but helpful to boot! We could not figure out what other reviewers were thinking! Will never be back, and wish more reviewers were honest about this ripoff of a place.

Ok, either I’m nuts or the other reviewers before me have never eaten good Mexican food. I was so shocked at how bad it was there the first time I went, but due to an unforeseen circumstance I had to go there again, and again, same overpriced crap. Chips and salsa: chips were clearly from a bag, not warm, and the salsa was runny and also did not taste homemade. Only plus side here is that they are free. We ordered the guacamole due to a previous reviewers recommendation. I happen to consider myself a guacamole connoisseur(my own horn has been tooted, yes) and I could honestly dupe some wholly guacamole you buy at the grocery store, or any other packaged guac for that matter, and you’d never know the difference. Clearly not a fresh guacamole. I ordered the carnitas platter, and I basically got a bunch of hard, oily, dried pieces of pork. I’ve tasted beef jerky that was more tender than this. Please, for the love of food, if you are going to go for mexican one night, go to any other establishment in the area(which by the way, there are tons). You can even go to La Quebrada less than a mile away on Rt. 25 and pay about half the price. As a Hispanic-American I can tell you I find Taco Bell to have better food than this place.

The food was good and not that expensive. You have a variety of options on the menu so the selection is decent. The burrito dinner I got was delicious and my dinner companion liked her taco dinner. The service was excellent as I recieved many refills on my beverages. The food also came in a timely manner and was like I said delicious. The restaurant itself is nice and charming. It is understandable why many people in the area swear by it. A hidden gem.

I is disappoint Unilocal.Went here due to the favorable reviews and what a disappointment. High prices, generic«Mexican» and poor ambiance. Only plus was nice waitress. As one reviewer said this is about as Americanized Mexican food you’ll find, up there with Taco Bell. The lady and I ended up paying $ 40+ for puréed guacamole(not fresh), the toughest carnitas I’ve ever had, what tasted like canned refried beans, meh rice and a horrible combination platter. Seriously avoid. You’re not too far from little Mexico in East Aurora go to Panchos, La Quebrada, Torresmania, La Quinta, but for Unilocal’s sake do not go here.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Try the nachos appetizer and the crab enchiladas. They are delicious. The service here is good and the food comes up in what seems like only seconds after you order it, but it is fresh and made just for you.

My favorite Mexican restaurant for years in a town where there are a lot of options. It is a good place for a family meal or with people from work. I usually get one of the combinations. The food is always very fresh. Their salsa is great and I wish the service were not so fast so I could nibble more. Portions are very good and the staff has always been wonderful.

I’m not gonna lie to you… the food is good, but the prices are a lil high for what you get in my opinion. I really do like their nachos though… because no one around here makes them like that. Oh, and their mole enchiladas are really good.

First time there today. I had a combination plate and based on the taste of the meat and sauces will try something more complicated next time. My wife has the enchiladas with mole’ sauce… yum! The mole was delicious. So, as a quickie review, the meats and sauces we tasted were delicious. Salsa was«fresh» tasing and when we asked for«spicy» they brought a really nice salsa with a good smoky flavor. If I had read the reviews ahead of time I would have tried the carnitas. Nothing fancy about the atmosphere but it is super clean, comfortable and friendly. We will be back for sure. I want the Carnitas, some Bistecca and I really want some of the mole’ sauce that Lisa had. It might take a couple of trips.

This 5 stars is for the carnitas plate. Honestly I have had nothing else here and I probably never will. The carnitas are so good. The platter gives you a very large portion of carnitas with rice and beans, and tortillas on the side. I pick at the meat, make some into tacos, and before I know it, I am stuffed and the plate is empty but for the gorgeous sheen of pork grease. Salty, greasy porky goodness.

Great Mexican Food on the river! Family owned and operated. The men and women that run this place couldn’t be nicer. Too bad the La Cabana in Oswego doesn’t have the people running this Cabana. Read the review on the Oswego location for further dirt. BESTCHIPSANDSALSAHANDSDOWN! Margaritas need to be spruced up. Seem to be light on the alcohol and heavy on the margarita mix.
