Stopped in on a recent Austin weekend vacation and really enjoyed the place. It has a cool vibe. The beers we had were pretty tasty and it seemed like a popular choice. The food we saw came out looked tasty. Only draw back to the location is that train…

The whole experience was average. I wouldn’t say anything bad happened, but I wouldn’t say it’s anything spectacular, but it was interesting to try.

I loved this place. Came here for lunch on a beautiful Austin December day. Had the salad, pizza and a beer special for $ 9. The pizza was on point. The salad fresh. The beer perfectly flavorful yet really drinkable. It was a nice lager. The space is fan tas tic! Inside is long communal tables and all industrial. The patio though it incredible. Dog friendly. Shade available if it’s too hot. A nice collection of varied seating options to choose from. I would definitely come back. It’s a nice hang out, relax, shoot the breeze and have a few beers place.

The rotating specialty pizza menu was to die for — literally and insanely delicious. The layout and ordering process may be a little off-putting, but don’t let it dissuade you from stopping in. Live music(yeah, it’s Austin), dog-friendly environment, community table seating, outdoor heating in the colder months, and a surprisingly attentive wait staff(given the decentralized ordering) compliments the terrific food and solid beer selection. I’ll be back… like, repeatedly.

They have a surprisingly diverse and eclectic food menu and a nice assortment of craft brews on tap. Everyone in our party was well pleased with their food items. The pizza looked appetizing but I did not try it. Live music was playing(Saturday I believe). They had various acts take the stage to play short 3 – 4 song sets. The quality and skill level of the performers varied greatly, but all-in-all was a good time. I found it odd that the veggie burger comes standard with bacon. Thankfully our order taker mentioned this while we were ordering.

YUM! I came back here and had a wonderful pizza experience! We got three pizzas for four people and they were really yummy. We also got some apps – the meatballs, the deviled eggs(better than expected!), and the brussels sprout salad(more of a side than a salad, though). All were great. I’d love to come back and try even more pizza options! The tables are fun – long, shared picnic-ish tables. They delivered everything to your table. A band started playing as we had dinner and it was a great, casual, fun spot. I’ll be back!

I can see this place getting a lot of traffic. Happy Hour scored some nice deals on pints and pitchers. It’s a HUGE location, we’re talking HUGE. Communal picnic tables both inside and outside. Lots of seating and great for a large group. We got a pitcher for HH price and enjoyed the session IPA they had – I forget the name off the top of my head, but it was something with Scorpion. There was sudden rain pour and people from outside ran inside; it would be nice to have tarps or something for rain coverage. Other than that, it’s a great place for a small to large group, families, people with pets, anybody. The name is a little odd to me as it’s a beer garden and brewing company, but no complaints here.

This place is great! It has it all– beer, great food, live music on the weekends and PLENTY of seating inside and out! First off, their pizzas are some of the best i’ve ever had. I highly suggest the sausage one, it was the first devoured in our group. They have a variety of craft beers, served in large mugs– enough to get a good buzz off one! I highly reccomend this place on the weekend for the live music– they had two bands play the saturday night i went. One laternative and one bluegrass.

So so. Pizza places should have a basic«meat» topped pie. Real sausage, not the ground, tasteless small portion found on this mediocre pie. Pepperoni, Canadian Bacon… that kinda meat lovers stuff. Not at this place. Skimpy on the ingredients and a not so special thin crust. We’ve visited more that a few times but it’s seems more oriented to beer guzzlers than food lovers. You’ve failed to impress the upscale gourmand, and I might add, pricy, at $ 22 bucks. The microbrew beer? Someone needs to sharpen their brewing skills.

Came here for a Tuesday night bike night the other week. There is a lot of good spots for motorcycle parking. There is in-door and outdoor seating, and quite a bit of it too. Apparently there is a biker discount on bike nights, but we didn’t get that since the cashier never told or asked up.(Just found out because our friend got it) There are a good amount of beer choices, a little for everyone. They have a few options of pizza by the slice. In addition they have full pizzas you can order. I got the sausage pizza and the deviled eggs. I wasn’t impressed with the food. The eggs were a little soggy, like they had been sitting for a while. The pizza was okay, but nothing special to me, which was a bummer. I was really hungry that day too.

It was told to us that this is the best of its kind in town and the lack of parking in the pretty large parking lot speaks to that! We were lucky to get a spot as someone was leaving and someone else was right on our butt later to get into our spot as we left! Very casual, very loud, very German Beer Hall! Lonnng tables. Live music. Happy people. You line up to grab a beer(and food) from the menu. Our server was very patient and allowed us to sample a couple of beers before our choice. I chose ‘Hell, Yes!’ This is the lightest beer on tap and it was good, served nice and cold. Hubby chose the ‘Big Momma’ which is a red beer and he loved it. And the glass he bought to take home with it. We were waved over to sit with some complete strangers which was great as they had some space for us and we had a very nice evening. Stayed longer than we had intended to! I also tried an «Industrial» beer but I liked the Hell Yes better for the lightness of it. Less aftertaste to me. We have found everyone in Austin to be very nice and welcoming. Especially here. I liked that it was very much a come as you are place. People from all walks of life. One of those places where if you walked in with say, a Cookie Monster outfit on, no one might think much of it! Lol! And the pizza! WOW! Thin crust, a few selections to choose from at $ 3/slice or so and we really enjoyed it. I recommend the Calabrese. So glad we were able to enjoy one of Austin’s many breweries on our last full day before flying out. Would return. Would certainly recommend.

Great place for youngsters, oldsters, dog-lovers and beer lords. We love the outdoor patio and nightly rockabilly or folky bluegrass music. One of the very best places to check out in south austin! Great for large parties and family, especially during the day between 1−6pm! Bikes welcome. Weirdos welcome. Hipsters welcome. Normal folks who like pizza and beer welcome.

I went here with my dog and my friend and her dog because we heard it was a great place for dogs(we both recently moved to austin) Sure enough the suggestions were right! There is TONS of outdoor seating as well as inside and easy parking! Obviously the beer selection is amazing and the cups are BIG! so thats a plus We both got sandwiches, I tried the feta avocado spinach one that was on a french baguette with a side salad and water melon and feta! so refreshing! I will definitely go back!

This place is awesome. Solid food, good beer and good beer variety, fabulous salads and a remarkably comfortable and large, dog and child friendly beer garden. The staff was kind and attentive and the laid back feel was perfect for a late summer Saturday afternoon. Our pizza was perfectly cooked. They have simple and fancy versions of the classic. The beer to pair was great: sour, helles, pils, porter, märzen and IPAs galore(YAY!!!). We added them to BringFido and cannot wait to come back!

Fun hangout place with friends & family. Though, parking is absolutely horrible. Really a hit or miss to find yourself a parking space! Patrons can get real aggressive for a space. Large outdoor & indoor area. They have ciders, wine, surpassingly good pizza and a great selection on tap. And of course some good live music as well. We had the white clam pizza. Found it really oily, but flavours were solid and the crust was good! Overall the experience here was fun and entertaining. Very loud inside(even when no band is on), spacious areas both indoors & outdoors. And yes, as others have mentioned, more wait staff would be great. Will be back again.

We’ve now been to ABGB on a couple of occasions and had a great experience each time we’ve gone. We stuck to the outdoor patio both times because it is dog friendly and often in the shade. You can also hear the live music they frequently have going on inside. The first time we shared a slice and had a few beers — both great. The second time around we opted for the pizza, salad, and pitcher combo which was great. We had plenty of pizza to take home but it was worth it for the deal. The pizza is more of a thin crust, NY style with great flavor. The Cesar salad wasn’t to anchovy based which is great for us. Definitely a spot to check out for some good beer and pizza in a great environment!

Love this place! First off, the owner is awesome and took the girls’ beer meetup I’m part of on a really awesome and informative tour of the brewing room. The food is great! Tons of options for a brewery! Vegetarians/vegans — so many things to enjoy! Cheese board, stuffed portobello, bruschetta, VEGGIESLIDERS, salads, pizzas, PIZZABYTHESLICE, veggie burger, avocado and apricot sandwich, and more! And the beer. I’m an IPA girl — and their Superliner is GREAT. I need to go back to try more of their beers ASAP. They have a lot of seating inside and some great outdoor seating for when it’s not too hot outside(aka winter) — and they have pretty regular live music!

Super fun place to chill at after work. This place is pretty large and you can find seating inside or outside. Because I saw it as more of a performance venue, I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was. Their pizzas are really delicious! I found the crust to have a lot more flavor than I was expecting and the blend of cheese was perfect. The sauce was better than average as well. Got two salads and they were slightly over dressed but they were still tasty and fresh. Decent priced beer as well. We got pitchers of the Pilsner and the Coffee Stout and both were quite good.

This place rocks! I love the atmosphere, the openness of the high ceilings, and the live music that they have. The setup is pretty sweet, with the stage right in front of all of the brew equipment and storage. You may not even recognize that it resembles an old warehouse(okay, you might), but the use of space is pretty great. Logistically, they have a pretty large parking lot(30 to 40ish cars, would you say?) and a back street that leads to some apartments on busy nights when there’s spillover. Two beer and food lines, and a separate line on the left specifically for closing out your tab. There’s also a bar, back seating away from the stage, and on fun nights, the fun people get up and dance and everyone else vicariously lives through them. The outdoor patio and seating is also pretty great and varied – imagine hanging out in someone’s backyard with their furniture and backyard shed, or up at picnic tables similar to being in a park, or even hanging out on the railing(if that’s your thing). While I don’t think their pizza is the absolute best in town, it’s still very good. Speciality slices are around $ 3.50 each, with most of the pizzas around the $ 14 to $ 18 range. The clam is a staple, and their salads are delish. They even have sandwiches that come with homemade(is that right?) kettle chips and of course, tons of home brewed beers. My favorites lately are the Big Mama Red, the Hell Yes and the Rocket 100, but they also have Topo and sodas like Coke and Fanta for some non-alchie fun too. The wait for our pizza was estimated about 30 to 45 minutes(depending on the rush), but the times have always varied depending on if it’s an early/late afternoon or evening, and of course, the pizzas are fresh and right out of the oven. Slices have taken anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes in past with some orders being pushed to 20. Slice-size ranges somewhere in the middle of Shome Schlice and Sleast Schlide Schpies. I’d say what keeps them from being 5 stars is the fact that there’s a pretty high bar for tasty pizza in town, but as for places with adequate seating, fluid movement and space, and a great offering of beer pairs(and flights!), it’s pretty close to that 5.

ABGB is a pretty cool place. Either that, or I don’t get out much. Well, we know the last part is true, so take this review with a grain of salt. I went here in November for a friend’s secret surprise birthday party. Given that it was one of those rare flash flood nights in Austin, I thought it was going to be so much a secret that I’d be the only one there. I hadn’t had supper, so I arrived about an hour before the party(yes, my tradition of seldom being late continues). I sat at the bar, and was greeted by friendly waitresses. I couldn’t drink that night, so I had to make do with iced tea. I perused their vast menu of pizzas, salads, and sandwiches, and settled on the Muffy. Yes, I did time in New Orleans, and I should be able to spell Muffaletta, but Muffy is easier to type and I wonder what would have happened if they had named the show«Muffy the Vampire Slayer». Come to think of it, that might make a great spoof. The Muffy was delivered quickly and was really pretty good. I won’t say it’s a Central Grocery Muffy, but it holds up pretty darn well in comparison, and beats the 504 mile drive. I was introduced to the chef by one of the waitresses, and thought that was a nice touch. Since I was still the first one there, I asked about the space for the birthday function. Eric told me he had reserved the small enclosed area to the left of the Oltorf entrance for us. It turned out to suit us well, because the half walls allowed us to crouch down low and totally surprise the intended victim. That was awesome. Yes, I know it’s a terrible thing to go to a beer garden and write a review without the beer, but, when I can consume, ABGB impressed me so much with the service and the food, that I want to come back and partake. Heck, I’d even come back for the food alone. Maybe they need to change their name to Austin Beer and Food Garden?
