Still such an odd name for a Korean restaurant. I’d think the College Roadhouse would be on dirty 6th or Guadalupe and serve nothing but cheap American lager. Why I wandered into this place I really don’t know, but I’m glad I did. Every time I’ve been here, the place is dead, maybe a table or two of other people. Talking to the bartender, the place gets wild after 11:00, but I haven’t been in here past 9. While I haven’t been there during drinking hours, I’ve been here to eat for dinner 3 times and it’s pretty good! I’ve gotten the chicken katsu, seafood ddukppoki, and kimche bulgogi french fries. The katsu and ddukppoki were top notch and I’ll order them again after trying some other dishes. The kimchi fries i’ve had better elsewhere(not the popular food truck). My partner for the night also enjoyed her meal and was excited to have soju and for so cheap on the happy hour. I’ll definitely be back and maybe check it out after 11:00 to see this tame and quiet restaurant turn into a ‘wild’ place.

A friend and I got pretty excited to check this place out after reading the Unilocal reviews, so we made plans to have happy hour there on a Wednesday night. We arrived at about 5:20, and drove around the whole strip mall before finding this place in a dark corner. There’s no sign, so you really have to be committed to find it. Though they’re supposed to open at 5, the place was dark. Tried the door, peered inside, but nobody home. As we sat in the parking lot trying to figure out plan B, a man pulled up and unlocked the door, turning the lights on at about 5:35. We didn’t feel super confident that this one man would be adept at both serving drinks and making food, so we went elsewhere. Hard to believe a place that can’t get it together enough to open on time will be worthwhile, so we won’t be returning.

$ 19 for pretty much a whole fried chicken. Yes please. Also had some Korean fried wings and those were delicious as well. I recommend getting the sauce on the side or getting some sides that will counteract the overpowering flavor of the Korean wings. Also, feel free to enjoy the Korean TV on the big screen!

It was an okay experience. I’ve been to korea numerous times and have been to korean restaurant/bars and this doesn’t rank among the best, but certainly not the worst. Ordered the korean fried chicken and it was good. It might have been that I haven’t had korean fried chicken in almost a year, but I enjoyed it. It is a bit pricey but you really can’t beat dollar fifty soju like they do in korea so I’m okay with paying for that. Would come back if I’m missing korea(well a lot because of there’s no where else to go like this place) but I really did like it.

If you’ve ever lived in Korea this place is exactly like the Soju bangs there. Plus they have karaōke.

College Roadhouse is TOTALLY my style. Ever since I saw this Korean joint with a weird name open up on a weird corner of a weird area of Lamar and Burnet, I’ve been dying to try it. It was exactly what I thought it would be. The atmosphere may be normal for Korean bars– I have no clue– but it was a bit odd to me. Kind of a bar, kind of a restaurant, kind of a party event locale. There was a huge TV playing Korean stations(which was AWESOME since I love Korean TV) and what sounded like a karaōke room. The seating was bar, normal tables, and a few big comfy couch seating areas. Really this place could be good for drinking, eating, just hanging out, or families. Because it is so Korean and relatively unknown, I expected to be the only confused American there, but the crowd was very mixed; families, young people, all ethnicities. The menu had pretty much every Korean bar dish you could want, and it all looked great! Fried chicken, tofu, kimchi dishes, squid, dumplings. A lot of variety. The drinks were pretty well priced and included alcohol slushies, domestic and imported beers, cocktails, etc. It was a bit confusing for me because some of the dishes were«white peopled» down a bit, not using their actual name, so I did need to ask the waitress for clarification on some things, but she was glad to help and recommend. I ordered the Ddokbokki. The sauce was a bit too sweet for me but the spice level was great and the fish cakes were some of the best I’ve had. Don’t get me wrong, mine is totally better, but who wants to go through the trouble of making rice cakes? I also ordered a mango vodka slush which was really tasty and had a fair amount of alcohol, but after the second. Ugh, way too sweet. I recommend it, but just ONE. My boyfriend ordered the wings with traditional Korean sauce and a grape slush at the waitresses recommendation. He said the wings were great and the slush tasted exactly like a grape freeze pop. Both of our portions were huge and under ten dollars, as were most of the menu items. Good Korean food with good Korean TV, good drinks, and good service. I can’t wait to go back and try the squid!

After living in Korea for a few years, I’ve been searching for a Korean place that reminds me of my time spent there. This is it. It’s just like a Korean Hof. Chicken, beer, k-pop, friendly atmosphere, and great vibes. We had the Katsu and jay-ook bap(pork cutlet and spicy pork with rice). Felt like I was sitting in a kimbap nara. Delicious. The rice is perfect. I’ll be back. Possibly this weekend.

This has to be some of the best Korean food I have had in years, served up in an ambiance that seems to be a cross between a sports bar and a Happy Days set!!! Now, admittedly, this place is still under construction, but still… They seem to be going for Happy Days chic, in terms of ambiance!!! I had the Bulgogi, which is sort of my «go to» Korean dish, and it was very good! Tender meat, well-marinated, and spiced just enough, with just the right balance of onions! My dining companion had a custom dish, chicken with carrots, cabbage, green onions,. She seemed to quite enjoy it! As an apology for the dust, they comped us a free desert, a sort of s fried sectioned potato, in a honey and sesame seed sauce… Yum! I have to say, that I will probably be back, as it is perfectly good Korean food, open late at night! They lose a star, only because of their under-construction level of noise and hubbub, but if and when I return, it will probably be to a much more physically comfortable space, and I will be able to give it the 5th star!!! The only piece of constructive criticism that I can give, beyond the physically uncomfortable seating, is that they need to install some sort of noise-baffling… We were one of only 3 parties in the restaurant, and the noise level was still high enough for me to have a hard time hearing my dining companion… So I would rule this place out for a first date spot!!!

First of all, our server was very amiable. I think he runs the bar or might be an owner, he gave us some complementary nibbles which were awesome. So friendly. I’m not sure about the language barrier as we spoke in Korean(entire staff were Korean, iirc.) Their«alcohol slushy», is super tasty ice-blended cocktail. It has perfect texture, neither too icy nor too watery. Being a fan of sweetie shots, oh god I loved them so much. Food is pretty good, we tried a few. Seafood pancake with green onion was a good appetizer to start with. Savory batter with lots of seafood and green onions, yum! Also it comes out super fast compared to other dishes. Wings we ordered were served in Korean style: whole wings fried. No drumettes or other parts — but just a whole wing. Crispy and delicious. I also hear their whole chicken is must-try as well. Though the strip mall is kinda sketchy, the interior is modernish and clean. They do blare k-pops though, so get ready for that.

I have been to this new casual Korean diner a couple of times and am already hooked. I love their chicken wings and Korean style fried chicken. They were crispy and perfectly fried and the dipping sauces for the chicken wings were sweet, spicy and tasty. I heard that the owners purchase fresh chickens from local farm every week to maintain freshness of chicken meat. Since I came to the US, I have been craving for Korean style fried chicken with unique tasty sauce and am happy to say I found the right place. American style chicken wings were also excellent(in my opinion, they were far better than any other chicken wing places around Austin). Great price and nice & friendly staff. I liked open-space restaurant with modern & casual interior decoration. I will definitely to go back to try other Korean dishes like spicy fried rice, hamburger-stake, seafood pancake, fried squid and kimbop(Korean style sushi). TWOTHUMSUP!
