Dos Batos has become a favorite for the family. Daughter likes the Chicken Pirata with Avocado and Cheese. Husband like the Steak Pirata with Avocado and Cheese. I’m hooked on the Fresh Salad with Steak and Wood-fired Veggies. We also like the Queso which is a smooth, creamy concoction. Everything is authentic, fresh, an healthful. Daughter also loves the homemade dessert empanadas – especially the pineapple. Look for the«Muy Caliente» Serrano sauce on the counter which is muy picante! I can’t distinguish it from Taco Deli’s Dona sauce. The service is friendly and prompt. The casual relaxed décor makes for a pleasant dining experience. Put this on your list. You’ll become a regular.

Good tacos. They’re a lil pricy but the tacos are packed with meat. It’s worth it. Clean lobby area and good fast service

My favorite restaurant! Wish they were open later, but it’s not a perfect world! Tacos are bomb and always good service and clean atmosphere :)

Been here a dozen or so times. Solid option. Love the queso, the tortas and the tacos. My faves: pollo pirata taco, and the polloqueso torta. Limeade is refreshing. Service is always friendly and quick.

I think Dos Batos could be changed to «Tres Cosas». You can get chicken, beef, veggie or some combo of those, and you can get it in a taco, salad or sandwich. And that’s about it. So, the selection is small, but I thought the core of the tacos(I had a beef taco — Pirata, and a chicken and veggie, my spouse had the veggie) was nicely done. I don’t know what the flavor was on the meat, but it was darn tasty. I could have done with less cheese, though. Only one salsa(red), but it was fresh and not too hot. Also, tortillas were obviously homemade, and grilled, which means you can actually eat the taco with your hands(not like the wet tissue tacos you can get elsewhere). Chicken and veggies were equally good. The guacamole was pretty simple, in keeping with the rest of Dos Batos. Nothing outstanding, but also fresh and well prepared. Décor is pretty sparse, and there are no breakfast tacos. Net is that this is a pretty good choice if you want something simple, and I’m glad I put it into my rotation.

They have the best tacos in town, hands down… I ordered the Pirata taco on flour tortilla, a little lime juice and green salsa. Everything we ordered came out fresh. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. This is my second visit and everything was just as good as the first time; consistent! I think I will order a Torta next time. Just about everyone in the restaurant had Tortas. This is now my go to spot for tacos.

I’ll make this the absolute shortest review: «BEST F#%K’N TACOSINAUSTIN.» The Pirata Taco is amazingly good. Such a bomber that there’s only one location, but for this place I’ll make the drive.

Dos Batos Tacos embraces the new trend toward healthier & better quality food cutting deep into the market shares of aging fast-food giants. I confess I love the old giants’ clown-and-chihuahua greasy tacos with pasty, anonymous mystery meat – anti-personnel weapons straight from heaven. Yet with Dos Batos Tacos I ascend the road up from the border along a path to Aztec Satori. There is nothing mysterious about the meat in my tacos Pirata at Dos Batos: it comprises delicious morsels of «USDA choice Angus top sirloin steak & sea salt.» Both Google and I say that vato means dude, so Dos Batos probably means Two Dudes Making Life-Changing Tacos. However you spell it, those guys are OCD about quality. Every ingredient gently asserts its flavor to commingle on the palate. I had my tacos up-sized to include charro beans and a drink. Tacos start with in-house corn or flour tortillas filled with fresh ingredients. Funny thing is that integrity didn’t cost much more than at the old school joints.

First time coming here, but it was a pretty good experience. I tried the steak, chicken, and beef hybrid tacos as well as the charro and some of their chips with salsa. Also, I had the fresh lemonade. Overall, the tacos were delicious. I preferred the non hybrids over the hybrids which includes veggies. I really enjoyed the taste of the meats combined with a fried tortilla. And the lemonade was deliciously sweet. However, I don’t think much else was good. The salsa was a warm, thin and slightly spicy tomato sauce. The charro is mostly a bean soup. If I go again, I’d only get the meat tacos and a lemonade.

I happened to be shopping near this place and decided to give it a whirl. Fresh homemade tortillas!!! Wow! I’m hooked on the Pirata tacos which automatically come with avocado! The meat is an Angus top sirloin and definitely hits the spot!

These tacos are really good. Don’t bother with the beans or queso or anything else, just get an extra taco if you want a side for your first taco. The chicken and beef were both very good. The staff was friendly and accommodating even within 40 minutes of closing.

I live near by and always smell the delicious wood smoke smell when walking my dog. This is what pulled me in one night. I just had to check out where these smells were coming from. When you walk in, its a little jarring. its very stark and modern inside. Its a little off-putting, but I’m just being picky. This is a pay a the counter kind of place. I ordered the Hybrid taco, and the hubby got the quesosteak torta. The verdict: the taco tasted amazing, but it is like a smaller version of a quesadilla. It was good but it was hard to eat with my hands. I had to resort to the knife and fork. The torta, my husband was not a fan of. There is way too much queso mixed in with the meat. It was like velvetta cheese with some meat in it. It is not simply cheese on top, it is totally mixed into the meat and my husband described it as disgusting. We haven’t been back, mostly because if we are craving tacos, we just go to Torchy’s. I think it is worth checking out, but I just don’t love it to be a regular there.

Dinner on Sunday night. They put my food on another table by mistake and left it for a few minutes. The person at other table went up and let them know. The server went and got the plate, took it back to the grill area, set it down, and then brought it back to me along with my friends… I could see it all. Don’t serve food once it’s been left at another table!!! There were only 4 groups in there and 2 were already eating. How you confuse a party of one with a party of two in an empty restaurant? The queso is velvetta… blech. I can name a lot of other places with better. The tacos were okay. I liked the tortillas and veggies. Never again!

I only came here once because when I did I ordered lunch and it wound up being only one big taco for about $ 8 and the taco was only OK. The tortilla was thick and folded in half over the filling almost more like a gyro or roti than a taco. The meat was a bit under-seasoned and it could have used many more toppings. As I say, the experience was meh enough that I never made it back. Maybe I totally missed something.

The food is okay. The tacos are more like small quesadillas and the Mexican corn was more like American style creamed corn. The décor is pretty nice with stained concrete floors and impressive murals, and the service was fast. I’ve had better tacos around town, so I was a little disappointed.

Dos Batos, I love your wood fired hybrid steak/vegie tacos served up fresh on house made flour or corn tortillas, and they keep me coming back for more. There is nothing fancy about this place, it is simply a taco joint serving up some fresh made food in a clean and comfortable setting. You go up to the counter to order, and you are given a number to take to a table and wait. I have tried a variety of things here, but what keeps me coming back are the wood fired tacos. The guacamole while served fresh with nice chunks of avocado, is missing something, and I have had better elsewhere in Austin. The charro beans, were too soupy, and lacked flavor. I prefer the wood fired steak vs. the chicken. They slightly fire the tacos after filling them, which melts the cheese nicely, and slightly hardens the tortilla(giving it a nice quesadilla like affect). The price is about the same per taco as Torchys. For dinner two tacos fills me up, they serve a couple of chips with some of their house made salsa with your order. The house made salsa is tasty, it tastes like it was made from sundried tomatoes and as a nice zesty flavor. The corn tortillas are some of the best I have had, and don’t fall apart. Up next to try is the salad.

I went here last week for lunch. Right when you walk in the door I was overwhelmed by the delicious smell of woodfired meat. The menu is fairly simple: about a half dozen options of beef, chicken or vegetarian tacos and traditional Mexican side dishes. When I arrived at the register to place my order, I was greeted by a friendly smiling employee. I ordered one beef taco and one chicken taco to go. She asked me if I would like a cup for water while I waited. The tacos only had a few ingredients: meat and melted cheese on a homemade tortilla topped with a slice of avocado. The woodfired meat that they are known for was really good; tender and seasoned well. I also love any food that has avocado included but that was where the good impressions stopped. You would find it rare for me to complain about cheese but with it being melted it acts as a glue for the meat to the tortilla and the taco could really use something crispy to add some texture and contrasting temperature to the one note tacos they serve. Some onion and cilantro or radishes would be a good choice if they wanted to go a more traditional route but lettuce it cabbage slaw would be really good to if they wanted to go for something more Americanized. In conclusion I could see myself going back here if someone I was with chose it but it wouldn’t be my first choice for tacos in a city that has so any great options.

Pretty decent! Their queso is simple but direct, styled like Torchy’s without all the additions. The tacos are filled then grilled, almost quesadilla style. It’s a little pricey(like tarka scale), but it’s quality food and the employees were very nice. It smells like a wood stove(mmmm) although the seating is generic. This place would be amazing with a few more cozy touches. A really good addition to the rotation of restaurants in this area. Love order-at-the-counter for a quick lunch.

I went in with almost no expectations, but walked out pretty well delighted. This little strip mall restaurant offers woodfired tacos and sandwiches that are downright delectable. The meat is grilled, tender, and tasty. Both the chicken and the beef are delicious, but the chicken edges out the steak, probably due to the fact that it’s grilled thigh meat, which makes it ridiculously moist. The tortillas and the bread for the sandwiches are a wonderful compliment to the meat, and the fixins just add to the experience. We added some beans and didn’t touch them, so I can’t speak to them. But the Mexican corn is really good, if a bit more tart than I’m used to. The guacamole is also really good, basic, but fresh and delicious. The salsa is warm, which is not my favorite, but that’s really a personal preference. The atmosphere is a bit sterile, in line with the strip mall location. But the food is fab.
