It’s cool enough Eastside spot the décor is amazing inside but it definitely is a little on the Hipster side of things specialty cocktails on happy hour are about 7 Bucks. You’re sort of crawling around the East Side tell the bars at the place to definitely hit for a drink

I really wanted to like this place but sadly I did not. I was there last night(Saturday night) and the bartenders were completely unknowledgeable about the most basic things. For instance, I asked for a glass of rose and the bartender poured a sparking rose which is not what I wanted. I was surprised and asked him if they had a still rose(which I saw in the menu) and he said he wasn’t sure he’d have to check. How are you the bartender and you don’t know if you carry a still rose?! Then I asked a simple food question about their red gravy and whether it was a heavier, cream based sauce or a lighter sauce. Not a difficult question. If he had ever seen the dish he would know. Obviously he doesn’t know anything about the food he serves. Again, he said he wasn’t sure and he’d have to go check. That’s just the tip of the iceberg with my awful experience. Save your money and go somewhere else

First off, I haven’t tried the food here, so I can’t comment on that, but the drinks and the bartender’s(Scott) knowledge of different types of flavors and liquors is outstanding. Will definitely return.

First off, the décor is amazing and everything was hand built/created by an amazing artist. Who I found out through some research is also one of the owners. Love love love the décor! I’ve only eaten there once just last week and it’ll be my last time. The food was mediocre, server was lazy and annoying. When you first walk in you’re greeted by the«Twins”(I’m guessing they’re the hosts), 2 hipster dudes with really long hair and wannbe facial hair, matching outfits(skinny jeans, snap buttons with top 3 undone, chest hair and necklaces included, big belt buckles, cowboy boots) they were literally the over exaggerated cartoon characters of Austin hipsters. Myself and my date laughed so hard as they… together sat us. Then the waitress comes over and squats like she’s taking a dump next to the table to explain the specials and drink order. So unprofessional and sloppily dressed. She only checked on us 2 times through out 1.5hrs we were there. Which I thought was odd as there was only 3 other tables when we were seated. We even had to ask another server for more drinks. Now I don’t mind $$$ food… but that should come with great quality. This wasn’t the case. I ordered the half grilled chicken which the breast was so dry and mealy I couldn’t finish it. My date could only eat half of her pasta dish as the sauce was so watery it could have been mistaken for soup. We even asked for some bread so she could soak up the sauce and they charged $ 2 for 4 pieces of tiny toast that was hard as rock. The only thing that we ordered that was amazing was the grilled watermelon! It gets 5 stars and was the least expensive on the tab. But here’s the final kicker… The bill was $ 86.00 2 large plates, 1 small plate(side) and 4 drinks. Not to bad, right? Well when I paid waitress with cash… She didn’t bring back the change. Seriously! Never… no matter what… I have never had that happen before anywhere. She never asked» would you like change back” or «I’ll be right back» nothing. Just swiped it off the table and walked away. We waited for about 10 min watching her doing nothing but stand at the pos system looking around. My date had to use the restroom so I decided to go wash my hands at the same time. As we walked by the server She looked at us and turned around to face the bar. As we walked past her on the way out she still never offered us our change to leave a tip, never said a word. Just kept it even though it was way less then I would have left her. Oh well, her loss I guess. Great place for some fancy drinks and great décor but food and service were lacking any kind of quality check or professionalism. Won’t be back ever. To many other great places to eat and drink in my hometown ATX!

This used to be my favorite restaurant in Austin. The mussels, ribs, fingerling potatoes WERE amazing. My last experience was terrible and the waitress told us they recently changed chefs and now everything has gone way downhill. The ribs were incredibly fatty, the mussels so below average. So sad that I will no longer be able to go enjoy one of my favorite meals.

You know in a dream when you’re standing next to someone but everything you say to them comes out muffled and then they seem to be getting farther and farther and you’re just shouting even though they are right there. Like, that’s how the bartender made me feel. When he finally got my order he gave me my glass of wine in a tumbler. I guess I’m pretentious enough to come here but not pretentious enough to be amused by these gimmicks. Also, I originally thought the décor was meant to be a French brasserie but I think it might just be steam punk. Mark my words… I’ll be back on Monday for all day happy hour.

This is probably the worst restaurant I have been to in Austin. The waiters are rude, the food is mediocre, and the drinks are underwhelming. Went with 5 friends and the first thing the waiter does when he comes to the table is tell us the restaurant will not split the check. First of all, thanks for the«Hello — welcome» and second of all, I have never been to a restaurant where this was one of their policies. To make matters worse, we ordered their«small plates»(aka appetizers) and some«big plates»(aka their main courses). We asked if the small plates can be brought out first and without hesitant the waiter said«They will come out when they are ready» and totally dismissed our request. The food was not tasty, luke warm, and expensive for what we were given. With all of the amazing restaurants in Austin, you would be crazy to go here. I hope you are reading this review BEFORE you go there vs after. Don’t want you wasting money like my friends and I did.

I love this bar. They have a speakeasy vibe and the servers really know their stuff when it comes to the drinks. This is now one of the places that I take people to when they visit Austin. It’s super low key and not assuming at all, so it’s worth a visit.

I picked this one by chance, and gotta say — my intuition was perfect! Great ambience, service, food, and wine. I am impressed with the Happy Hour specials. Drinks and food deeply discounted to make it an even better surprise. I will be back, and I will bring friends!

Double-date last night at one of my favourite Austin bars, and it hasn’t been outshone by the burst of new bars and restaurants that have sprung up on East Sixth strip this year. East Side Show Room has a buzzy, humming, happy candle-lit vibe. It’s an ideal spot for couples and small groups. The fantastic cocktails are the star of this show. Twists on the classics and fancy new things to try if you’re up for being adventurous. There’s a good selection of brews on tap and a nice wine list, too. The food is good, though more pricey than other neighbourhood options. Though I wish there were a few more shareable-appetiser options for those times when you are peckish but not starving. Add Eastside Showroom to your weekday Happy Hour list. Good specials for early birds on weeknights.

Impressive back bar with loads of Amari! Creative speciality cocktail menu. You can expect fun twists on classic cocktails of all spirits. On a late night visit during a quiet weeknight, you’ll find yourself among several small groups that may be a little rowdy from the hours they’ve already been drinking here or elsewhere on east 6th. The interior design is like a classic cocktail lounge meets wine cave, especially good for intimate conversations and late night imbibing.

Live music, GREAT live music! 1920’s vibe and Ambience Reminds me of SOHO an Amazing bar in Downtown San Antonio. Another great place for live music and great drinks. Love this side of 6th st. I hear the Ricotta is worth trying!

I’ve been to East Side Show Room twice now. Once when it was crowded to the brim, and we managed to get good seats at the bar and a second time with a larger group and far less crowded. I had a great experience both times. Here’s what East Side Show Room gets right: The host and staff treat their guests with causal dignity and the bartenders and cooks back it up some amazingly delightful drinks and food. That’s all it takes to be an amazing place and I think a lot of restaurants in Austin could learn from this place. The ambience of dark wood and casual, faux Italian café chairs and tables allows for a relaxing time to spend with friends. Everything there is good, food and drink-wise. My favorite food, something I ordered on a whim was the Creole Bolognese. I normally avoid pasta, but our server said it was«hearty» and that sold it – and she was not wrong. Spicy and delicious pork and beef bolognese over a generous bowl of al dente spaghetti. It was almost enough to consider adding pasta back into my diet. East Side Show Room is worth it. Go.

East Side Show Room has an ambiance like no other bar on East 6th street. When you walk through the front doors, you feel as if you’ve walked straight into a bar from the 20s. There is a lot of detail put into the place to really give off the feel of an older European bar from decades passed. The only problem with the bar is the fact that it is quite small. On the weekends, there is typically a band playing. As amazing as the music is, it leaves you very little space and absolutely no potential to converse with whoever you attend the bar with. If you’re looking to socialize, I’d recommend this bar on a weeknight when it is less crowded and less distracting.

Popped in here to start a night of drinking with some friends. It was pretty crowded for a Saturday night, no surprise there. I didn’t really bother with reading through the specialty cocktails and went with a Manhattan with Maker’s. Whenever I have a Manhattan it’s a 50⁄50 shot on «this will taste like Maker’s and a cherry» or «damn, this is a good drink». Luckily, this was a damn good drink. So smooth and not your average maraschino cherry. Maybe I’m still used to Chicago prices, but I thought at $ 9 it was a well-priced drink. Service at the bar was prompt and friendly. Definitely want to go back and try the food.

I went on a Tuesday night and the place was packed! Low lighting, 1920’s ambience — very prohibition feel to it. Only got appetizers and dessert. The ricotta and bread was good — very subtle herb and honey flavors, and fresh. Dessert was the flourless chocolate cake with the vanilla bourbon gelato a la mode on top. It was delicious, not too decadent as flourless cakes often are. Good balance of sweetness. The bourbon gelato had an expected after taste, but not sure if I lived the way it compliments the cake. Next time I’d try the gelato with the chicory coffee on top. Plus I do want to come back for dinner :)

Don’t you just love it when you are told that your tastes are wrong. Had a lovely evening with some friends here but it all kinda ended with a fizzle. Had some great drinks up front, great starters, but then the mains started trickling out… Very slowly. I ordered a medium rare steak, which came out first, and then the 3 other mains took at least another 15m before arriving to the table. By the time I tucked in to eat it was cold, but to make it worse, the steak was way undercooked. Not sure it had surpassed 100° at any point, definitely not in the middle where it was ice cold. Both the manager and the waitress, who didn’t check in until after the other meals had been finished, explained to me that it was that I did not understand that it was«family style and meant to be shared.» I tried explaining that it wasn’t that, but that it was too cold before it got to the table… The blame here was on me, for not appreciating their predicament of having a small kitchen. I got pretty embarrassed having to explain why I didn’t want eat it, and asked them to remove it — which they did, after deliberation, and then a nice snarky comment again when bringing the check saying«sorry that you didn’t understand our concept.» Pretty insulting. Folks at the table were disappointed, but not enough that they wanted leave. When they dropped the check off, we realized were being asked to leave without more drinks or deserts(that we had planned on ordering). Shame. I mainly wanted to explain to them that they had served uncooked meat and that I didn’t care if we’re on my bill or off, but fix it. Had anyone come to check on things, it could have been corrected with a sincere apology, a smile, and a quick fix of the meal. Instead, they wanted to argue a point that did not concern me but their own egos. To be honest, I would go back. Drinks and décor were fun, food was pretty good save the one disaster. Hey, it happens, things slip through, expectations aren’t met… However, insulting your customers isn’t a solid mitigation strategy.

I love walking over here for drinks in between things, which I should now mention — I have only ever been here for the bar, have yet to try the food so I can’t speak to that. As everyone previous to me is saying, the place itself is super enchanting. Vintage meets industrial ish vibes, velvet curtains, etc etc — you get the image(their website ACTUALLY says this, ha: «embodies the romance of pre-WWII ambiance.») If you come here for drinks but sit at a table and not the bar, your waiter will act like you have committed a sin. The service here isn’t the friendliest. But to the details: — Happy hour is Tues-Sun 5−7pm and ALL night on Mondays. $ 5 cocktails and $ 1 off all draft beer and glasses of wine. Food is also half priced, but unsure which specific items from the dinner menu those are. In short, I like the vibes of this place. And I like $ 5 cocktails. Four stars because I haven’t tried the food and the service can be meh.

I’ve been here a few times and have been absolutely thrilled with each experience. The waitstaff and bartenders are absolutely perfect. Great attitudes, great service, great knowledge of their menu. The bar drinks are always great, the food is phenomenal and is served in HUGE portions, so plan to share. I strongly recommend that you DONOTSKIPTHEHOUSEMADERICOTTA. Finally made it here last night after dinner, sorry it took so long. Drinks were all really creative and tasty. Atmosphere is super retro from prohibition days, welcoming and relaxing for an after dinner drink or two. Not sure about the food, but will be back soon to try some and enjoy more specialty cocktails.

A hipster watering hole.(no, that’s not a complement) First impression: Have you ever walked into a place and it felt like a cheesy cowboys flick? You know the type. You walk through the saloon doors and everyone in the joint stops what they’re doing turns and stares you down. Yeah, it felt like that. Not to mention the steam-punky décor and handlebar mustaches everywhere. Classic 1885. I’m privy to the hipper-than-thou locals only vibe that can be found on the east side but this one just made me chuckle. We got there around 8pm and there was no host so we sat ourselves. Kitchen was apparently closed; would’ve like to try the food. I ordered a signature cocktail as well as a classic to kick the tires on this place. They were both great, well crafted. There’s no denying they know what they’re doing behind the bar. Back patio was a much better vibe, small and intimate. It was nice to sip outside. But again, a few larger groups of cool kids showed up and sucked the fun out of the air, took all the chairs and smoked like a train. Probably won’t go back here, which bums me out because it showed promise and it’s walking distance from home. I’m still searching for a solid neighborhood bar on the east side without an ego. This definitely isn’t it. I don’t know about you, but when I want a solid drink, wearing an ironic band shirt so my barkeep thinks I’m cool isn’t on my list of to-do’s when I’m about to walk out my door. Don’t forget to tip your servers.

Excellent food and drinks! I had the shrimp and risotto and my boyfriend had the chicken with the lemon and caper butter. Both plates were so great! I started with an old fashioned and ended with a spicy drink I asked my waitress about from a previous experience. She was so nice and helpful.

Vibe: Victorian bordello meets 20s speakeasy meets Parisian café… with a touch of modern industrial for good measure. Nicely landscaped back patio as well. Hipster yet refined. Offerings: Fancy cocktails galore, alongside plenty of beer and wine. Gourmet artisan appetizers at somewhat upscale prices. Can’t comment on the main dishes as my friend and I stuck to appetizers and drinks. What we had was exceptionally delish though! Service: Our server stayed on top of keeping our glasses filled and checking on us regularly. She was pleasant enough, but seemed a bit bored at the same time. Maybe it was just a long day for her though. Overall: A place to feel fancy despite wearing jeans and a band t(and not being judged for it). One of the east sides finest establishments. How this place isn’t by reservation only is beyond me.

If you want to go classy before you go trashy at 6th st, this is your place to go. A great place to start the night and get a couple of cocktails while talking to that random person sitting next to you at the bar(if you could get a seat at the bar) or just to hang out in the(really) small back patio with a buddy or two talking about nothing and everything all at once(yes, this is a green day reference). The only downside to this place is it’s kind of small. When it gets packed, good luck getting one of the bartenders’ attention. For me, when it gets packed, it’s time to go get trashy somewhere else. Although to be fair, the older bartender who was working here was super duper cool. You’ll find plenty of beautiful people here, though. Well, at least while I was here, there were plenty of eye candies for me.

I have been numerous times. Drinks are always good. Sunday night tonight things were not working so well. Sat at bar and greeted by very busy single bartender 5 minutes later. A few more minutes and he takes our drink order for a couple pisco sours. He then tells us these are 5 minute drinks and I ask why. He says need to shake 4 minutes(I know this is not correct). 10 minutes later after serving numerous drinks to other patrons arriving later than us we leave. It is clear he is not even considering making us any pisco sours. I very well know this drink from Peru and my own bar. Simply separating an egg white takes 10 seconds. This place was way overwhelmed and way under serviced. Avoid Sunday as everyone else is wanting a craft cocktail but waiting forever.
