Cool neighborhood type bar with some really great voices on stage! Fun place to chill and drink some beers! I was there on a Monday night and it was busy. Stopped back on Friday but the line was out the door and around the corner of the building at about 11.

Recently checked out Ego’s pretty late night. We waited to get in as we were told it was one in one out. It was more like 1 in 5 out. Once we got inside, it was by no means crowded. Definitely not worth making us wait outside for people to leave. We had a great time here though, it’s divey and it’s karaōke so hey you really can’t have a bad time right. My only complaint was that the guy running the karaōke was a bit patronizing. I think he thought he was pretty cool.

I’ll keep this short and sweet. Divey — my kind of place Reasonably priced drinks — my kind of place Awesome and friendly crowd — my kind of place Drunk karaōke — my kind of place The only downside is this place gets super packed so the wait to get up on the stage to blast out your inner William Hung could take a while. Other than that, this place is A-okay! Check it out!

A prescription for myself: Go to Ego’s, at least twice a year. Walk through the smoke screen on the way in – breathe it in like it’s 1999 and bars everywhere are still smoky. Gather with friends. Drink some drinks. Listen to the people up there crushing that Karaōke. Be inspired by their greatness. One day: get up there and sing too.

First off, I just want to say I LOVEEGO’S! Or should I say I LOVED Ego’s up till last night. Liquor upon liquor upon liquor and genuinely one of the best karaōke bars downtown. The staff on the other hand is another story. The doorman, «Chris,» will chastise you for smoking too close to the venue — while he smokes right in front of the door. That’s cool, no problem. I’ll move. Two minutes later I get a tap on my shoulder asking me to stand on the curb, as someone was trying to back up. I made a joke about one of the bartenders(BETH) not being able to properly back up –I mean seriously, a huge open lot and you can barely drive — who wouldn’t? Beth proceeded to roll down her window, insert herself into my conversation, and asked me if I had a problem. The doorman(CHRIS) told ME to calm down or I wouldn’t be allowed back into the bar. Cool right? Beth backs up, I wave goodbye. Beth gets out of her car, walking up to me — seriously Beth. You wanna fight about a joke, classy chick. The INCOMPETENT doorman, was holding her back for no reason, I was standing calm as a cucumber — thinking to myself there’s no way this is real. Oh but it was real. Beth then decides she’s going to throw something at me, hitting my jacket and one of my friends. Did I react? No. I shrugged it off, meanwhile the doorman is telling me that I won’t be allowed back in. So let’s get this straight — The paying customer has to leave, while the slovenly bartender gets to throw trash at customers and get away with it? Amazing. Thanks Ego’s! For ruining my night, and ruining your reputation to my group of friends. For many of them, that was the first time they had ever been. Talk about embarrassing.

I LOVE Ego’s! Drink prices are beyond decent. Super divey. I love that this bar is tucked away in a parking garage. Karaōke up front, pool tables in the back. Staff means business, but if you’re friendly/respectful to them, they’ll treat you the same! Weekends are typically insanely busy(karaōke starts at 9 and even if you sign up right away you’ll be lucky if you sing more than once). Patrons are typically very friendly and ready to have a good time. This is a regular spot for my group of friends!

Aside from the rude, condescending, judgmental bartenders, this place is SO fun and I won’t let them stop me from singing my little heart out

Booze, you want booze? They got booze… and a decent to heavy pour to boot! Beer, you want cold beer? They got cold ass beer… and lots of it! Songs, you want cool song? They got cool ass songs and lots other cool shit you sing along with too! Good looking people, you want to see some good looking awesome outgoing people? Yup! They got those too! Where has this place been hiding all my life? Holey Moley… in the past when I wanted decent karaōke, I drove up north; but hell, that’s not happening anymore! Although I was only there for 45min, I knew the moment I walked through the doorway I was entering an alternate universe where all of the Badass Outgoing People of Austin hung out. And you know what, I can’t wait to go back!

Every time I go to Austin, I always make time for Ego’s! It’s a fun little space, and the drinks are very well priced and tasty! The bartenders are always friendly despite how busy they can get, and if you get Brix then you’ll be getting the best drinks. Karaōke and trivia are always fun. Highly recommended!

I’ve lived on SOCO for 4 years now and had no idea this place existed until last weekend! It was a friends birthday and he really wanted to go to Karaōke so we all said hey why not. He led the way and we ended up here! MINDBLOWN! Who would have ever guessed this was down here! We has a great time! The drinks where very affordable and strong which is A-OK with me! It is for sure a whole in the wall place and very dive-y which is good! This is Austin, we need more of that! If you are looking for an upscale place to mix and mingle with well dressed folk then go else where. My first experience here was good! Service was good!

We were a party of four from the UK and came to Austin for a wedding. We stumbled across Ego’s and the place a to be a great local bar. Service is superb and friendly and the bar quirky. Entrance is through a car park, worth a visit

If you can ignore the worst service in the world, THENFUCKYEAH this place is the BEST! But seriously, i think it’s fun enough that the bartenders being total dicks and screwing everything up and purposefully ignoring you isn’t enough to ruin the entire experience. But they have virtually every song you have ever sung to in the shower and more.

Best dive/karaōke bar in Austin, hands down! The staff, KJs and patrons are fun, friendly, easy going and awesome — especially the Manager and the regular happy hour crowd! I have been going here since 2010 and have never had a bad experience. They have been around for well over 30 years and aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

We love the karaōke here, but hate the service. The large lady working on Wednesday(7÷29÷15) with the black shirt refused to tell us the specials and asked us to stop dancing. Not cool.

This is your standard dive bar. Pool table — Karaōke — Cheap drinks — Friendly/working class patrons — I don’t believe they serve food here. They accept cards, it has a nice friendly atmosphere, the karaōke was fun but filled with more off key singers than on. Lol. If you smoke, the bar is located in an odd parking garage sort of area, so you have to walk around the building to have a quick ciggie.

Yah. Don’t go here unless you want really great Kareoke with never a chance to play and a bar staff whose mission is to cut off as many people they can that night that are dancing and having fun. Seriously. Two separate times two different people from our party were«cut off» And kicked out for being a normal Austin night out on the town– no falling asleep– no falling down– just«sorry u are cut off and have to go» bc your hugging people. They are trying to assert dominance with this and it’s lame. Oh and their bathrooms suck and are dirty and gross.
