Darrell is hard to get on the phone since he loses it, doesn’t have his voicemail set up, etc. When you do talk to him he makes it sound like it’s real easy to make an appointment and meet up. Well, no. I gave him a 15 minute grace period before calling him to find out where he was. No answer. Texted him to find out how far out he was. No answer. So I’m guessing he either forgot or he doesn’t care. I get it. Austin is a booming town now and these guys have all the business they can handle, but customer service is not just a down economy thing.
I can’t speak to the quality of Darrell’s work because he didn’t even show up to scope out the job. He wasted my time and hopefully won’t waste yours.

Although Darrell possesses some building skills, in my case his chronic and constant lying about my job and his ability to bid it properly and conduct himself in an authentic and reliable manner have led to essentially what amounts to
A total disaster.
He has over 95% of my money, $ 65,000! Paid out of my savings, but has not shown up or done work for months… at least since Christmas.
The job was estimated to take 3 – 4 months… it’s been close to a year and he has been MIA. I have received certified mail from his subs, threatening to sue me since he never paid them.
My guess is that he is essentially a handyman… someone who could install a dog door or fix a faucet, but incapable of actually completing a job involving carpentry, plumbing, and other skills. He certainly had no problem pocketing my cash, and producing very little. The point is, there are enough hard working guys in Austin to warrant avoiding him,
Now I’m starting all over again, interviewing contractors.
PS: the new Sheetrock contractor has had to re tape and float huge areas, due to Darryl using the wrong type of tape… so even some of the work he completed was done wrong and is being removed.

I was referred to Darrell after contacting The Fix It Chick and being told that they were too busy (good for them, but sad for me) to help as quickly as I was wanting. I had a random list of items that came up on the inspection for the house we had just bought that we knew we wanted done. Darrell has a broad knowledge base on home repairs and was able to fix everything on the list quickly, and also gave his recommendation on what could wait (or what would be easy and cheaper for us to just do ourselves).
Fast forward a few months-​we have continued to call on Darrell for various projects throughout the house. I’m 9 months pregnant and trying to get it all done before the baby comes and Darrell has risen to the challenge. He was able to repair our outdoor kitchen, match the stonework, wire in some new lighting and helped talk us through (and out of) doing a pricey pergola addition (I appreciated his honesty!) He most recently installed closet shelving, matching the existing and mostly useless laundry room shelves (with his perfectionist attention to detail) .
Being around during the day while contractors are working in the house, it’s nice to find someone who not only knows their stuff but is also just a genuinely nice guy to be around. I’m grateful that we’ve found a ‘Darrell of all trades’ handyman that I can call on for whatever comes up with our house over the years.

I’ve worked with Darrell on multiple projects over the past few years and what can I say, he does great work! The quality of the work is superb and his attention to detail is amazing. There’s nothing he can’t help with and his prices are really competitive.

After buying our 7 year-​old home, we contacted Darrell for help with several projects. What can I say — he’s great! Altho other contractors told us the tile we wanted was no longer available — Darell contacted the manufacturer and purchased the very last available supple to we could put it in our dining room. He also did multiple electical and plumbing jobs. He is dependable, honest, competent, and his prices are fair. We look forward to calling on Darrell for projects over the coming years.

I was going to use Green Action Remolding and called up Darrell Warren to get an estimate. I went by the house and did the estimate but he it would be able to do it in over a month and I would have to sign a contract. He came recommended so I signed the contract and waited. Less than one week before he was to do the work I get a phone call saying to call him back. I called back and he said he was trying to get ahold of me for several days and that my «email» wasn’t working which was a surprised since nobody else had trouble finding me. He told me that his floor guy wasn’t with him anymore and he would do the other work and find me a good floor guy to do the work. He also wanted to do a new contract. After he hung up I was very disappointed since the floor was a big part of the job and what is the point of having a contract if he isn’t going to honor it. Well it didn’t matter anyway since it has been over two weeks and he still hasn’t called or emailed about the work. I would not recommend him since his word means nothing.

Darrell did an amazing job removing «popcorn ceiling», retexturing the ceilings, and painting the ceilings and walls in four rooms of our house in only one weekend! He is a perfectionist and gives his all. You will never deal with a more courteous, thoughtful and fair contractor. We wish him well!
