My mother recently had surgery with Dr. Zidar and he is just simply a wonderful doctor. We were all really nervous until he personally came to speak with us and both patiently and pleasantly answered all of our questions. He told us of a clinical trial/study that my mother was a candidate for, and answered all the questions from that can of worms. I loved his interaction with my parents, he didn’t speak down to them as many other doctors have done in the past. I noticed that my mom’s hands weren’t trembling anymore after that and she went into her surgery like the strong german woman I know and love. After my mom was going in to be prepped, I forgot to ask him a very important question. The nurse passed the message on to him, and he personally came down to lobby and caught me on the way out the door to answer it. I was probably more scared than my mom was, and until that point, was on the verge of tears for the possibilities. It means a lot when a doctor takes the time and shows the confidence that everything will be just fine, and it was. My mother came out of surgery just fine, sooner than anticipated. He kept her overnight just in case, and she’s now on her way home with no complications. By the way– he(not just the nurse) also came and personally talked to my parents about how happy he was with the way the procedure went and explained the restrictions and future follow up visit recommendations. I really appreciated the way Dr. Zidar and the Heart Hospital of Austin treated us. I would highly recommend Dr. Zidar to anyone that may need him. He’s wonderful.
