Should have checked the review dates. Over enthusiastic me didn’t realize it’s been closed for over a year

A good friend recently said«the food truck thing is so 2010», but I’m so glad I ignored her. Tapas are some of the best we have had, and we have done tapas at a zillion places, including Espana. Like the dedication to local ingredients and the Texas-inspired menu. Omelette, chicken schnitzel, oyster mushrooms in the sherry cream sauce(omg, divine!), and fish croquettes were scrumptious and perfectly prepared. Service is good but food prep is very sloooooow, so bring a good serving of patience with your appetite.

I had been looking for this trailer for awhile because we love Spanish food – it’s newest location is great right off Barton Springs. We had the salad(with fresh peaches, pecans and goat cheese), patatas bravas, Spanish tortilla and the meatballs. She also offered us olives marinated with oranges. All I can say is exquisito and we found a new fave place for Spanish cuisine in Austin!

Wow, the food was excellent! This is the best Trailer I have tried in Austin, and I have been trying trailer food lately to check out the buzz. 1st-BYOB…this is a great thing. We grabbed a six pack of beer and sat in front of a huge fan to eat. So grab beer, wine, whatever your drink of choice is before you get there(or walk next door to the market and pick something up). The food was great. I have been thinking about it since last Friday night when we went. The great thing about Tapas is getting to try different things. 2 people can easily order and finish 4 – 6 items(so you get to try 6 items, how fun). We had pâté, meatballs, papas bravas, meatballs, calamari, japanese long beans, a salad with peaches and goat cheese, and a coke float! My favorite thing was the Pâté. I had never had any before and thought it would be fun to try for $ 6. It was so good I ate every bit of it by myself. Not sure if it is always on the menu. If it is on the menu-get it! Honestly, next time I go I want to try everything else on the menu. It all looks yummy and it is fun to try new things in small quantities. I suspect my next trip will be soon… I would go right now, but not open for lunch today:)

I don’t know why I’m always surprised when trailer food is so good, we have so many great places here in Austin. When I went I wasn’t even very hungry, but so many menu items were too tempting to pass up. Everything was delicious… even the snails!!! The downside is that they are only open Friday and Saturday nights because its been so darn hot out. Once it cools down they will start weekend brunch, I can’t wait!

I went here as somewhat of a «last resort». I wanted to try something new, but wasn’t really in the mood for a sandwich. However, the other trailers were closed so a took a chance on La Tasca. I can’t remember exactly what I ordered, but it was like a carpaccio(ham) sandwich with Manchego cheese. It was GREAT. She uses extremely good bread(I think it’s FLOWNIN from someplace northeast) and butter, toasts the bread lightly with the butter on it … add ham & cheese … YUM! I’ve been craving more La Tasca ever since then…

Note, originally reviewed in March, but deleted because it was ‘orphaned’ in a separate listing for La Tasca. Anyway… We had: The Charcuterie plate — Serrano ham, chorizo(Spanish), house made chicken pâté, duck liver pâté, it was great. The cheese plate — Manchego, fresh goat, fig jam, I think and some other stuff I don’t remember. Also great. Papas Bravas — crispy potatoes and good brava sauce. A little saucier than most versions I’ve had and I liked that. Venison and pork meatballs in a sherry sauce — great texture, very tender. Had currants and almonds in it, I think. My only issue was there was a little too much fresh thyme. Otherwise, great. Calamari — fried lightly. Very tender, could have been a little crunchier. Maybe…The batter was really light, which was good. Not sure they could get it crispier without losing tenderness so I might be wrong. Roasted tomatoes — Over the top. Took some home and had for breakfast with a fried egg on top. I went back and also had another item last night — Snails in a creamy garlic sauce. No cream, but it was creamy, not sure why. Really good. Missed out on the venison shoulder(braised with garlic or something). Bread was also great, they said they get it half baked from NY. This is more than trailer food. Way better than any tapas I’ve had in any restaurant Austin. Way better… 6−27−11 note: Also, I think they are moving again. Something about all the trailers getting booted from the current lot. They are moving down to the South Lamar/Barton Springs area. Not sure exactly where.

Even on a hot, sunny day, sitting on a park bench under the trees enjoying a terrific ham, fig and brie sandwich is wonderful. I would give it a 5 stars if some on-site faciilities were available for recycling. I know it’s unrelated to the cuisine which was 5 stars.

We were eating at Love Balls and happen to mosey over to this trailer and I knew that I HAD to try it! I love the tapas concept with the small plates! I am so happy to have a trailer like this one in Austin. Now, it was at the same trailer park as The Vegan Yacht and Bits and Druthers, but now it has moved to just down the street opposite off 5th street. I kinda freaked out when I went the the original location and it was not there. Luckily, we found it and boy were we glad to!!! We feasted on Antelope Stew, Papas Bravas, Tortilla(spanish version, kinda like a quiche, egg thing), and the garlic mushrooms! All of which were served with some yummy french bread and a smile from the wonderful girls inside! I was so happy to be able to try this out and its worth every cent you spend on it. I can’t wait to come back and try all the seasonal items that are going to pop up over time. I really would love for everyone to give it a try. I doubt that anyone will leave disappointed!

Went for dinner, had the snails and venison sausage. Everything tasted bland. Disappointed :(

No trailer has ever smelled so good! The menu reads like a fancy tapas restaurant menu: chili shrimp, rabbit sausage, trout, cheese plate, chocolate mousse. While waiting for our chili shrimp to arrive, we chatted with some other customers about La Tasca. They said that they ate there about two to three times a week and thought it was better than any tapas place on the planet. Even though it did take longer to receive our order than our orders from the other trailers, we found the shrimp was worth the wait. They were huge and spicy. The sauce sitting in the dish was a yummy sweet and spicy dipping sauce for our bread. We wanted more bread in order to soak up all of that tasty mixture. I plan to order my entire dinner from this trailer in the future. But, I will also be sure to bring a bottle of wine to go with the tapas. An added bonus was the movie playing on the large screen in the parking lot near this trailer. I think this is the homiest and most welcoming trailer food park in Austin. Granted, we went at night. During the day they need more than the one umbrella.

Stopped by to pick up a few appetizers on our way to another trailer we knew would have a long dinner wait — oh my, so good. The snails were fantastic,(10 or so cooked well in a great herb butter) and after we sopped up the sauce with the bread we had to keep ourselves from licking the bowl. The potatos brava were delish, «lightly» fried and covered in a just spicy enough paprika/chili sauce. Around us, the cheese plate looked great, as did the cold shrimp(salad?) and the calamari. The people were exceptionally nice and friendly, a trailer I’d frequent if I lived in Austin!
