So yesterday after work I went to the Marble Slab on 183 and Lakeline Mall Drive. They close at 9pm and I was there at 8:20. The girl who worked there and a guy who appeared to be her boyfriend both rolled their eyes at me as if I were burdening them. I asked if they were still open and she said yes but that it is time to clean up and shut things down. I even told her(because it was so obvious) that I could see the disappointment in her face when I came in. She said and I quote, «It’s just that whenever I keep trying to wipe the glass(on one of the freezers) people keep coming in.» Are you kidding me??? This irritated me because all I wanted was a kid size serving of sweet cream ice cream. I didn’t ask for samples and it took me less than five minutes as I knew exactly what I wanted. Then on top of that, she was very stingy with the portion she gave me which was small enough as it was. Now I see why this place has such negative reviews. Will spend my hard earned dollars elsewhere!

Yesterday was my birthday and I tried to go in and redeem the $ 5 birthday rewards points they gave me. I didn’t really feel like ice cream, but, hey, it was gonna be free and it was my birthday, so why not? Lo and behold, they did not have a tablet at this location to read my coupon code(said they should be getting it in a few weeks…) and I had to pay for it instead and cone back another time to redeem. A little disappointing. I feel fatter AND poorer when I didn’t really want it in the first place. Bad life choice on my part.

When they say they close at 10:00 they actually mean 9:50. We walked in the door at 9:59 and the place was completely cleaned up for the night, ice cream removed from the case, chairs stacked up. I’m sure the owner of this location would be thrilled to know that the staff is more worries about getting out of the place«on time» as opposed to making money. As we walked out another group of people walked in only to discover the same thing. Good thing there is a Menchies right down the street…

Nope. Trust the reviews. I remember when MS was good. Quality. Fun. This location is hot, dirty and waaay over priced $ 15.77 for two ice creams. Normal ice creams. I am tired of stopping in to ice cream places that are so sub par I literally want to turn back time and save almost $ 20. I did give a $ 3 tip to the girl because she was helpful, patient and friendly. Apparently, it’s a good thing I didn’t meet the owner. Rumor has it he’s a tyrant. No ice cream for you!

We had a Groupon for an ice cream cake. The employee who waited on us was super nice. We also ordered ice cream while we were there. I felt like my cup was quite full but the cookie dough was just so so. Kind of lacked flavor and it got so chopped up when mixed in that it was more like cookie dust minus a few chunks. I ended up throwing it away not because it was bad, but because it wasn’t good enough to be worth all the calories. My boyfriend ordered the Bananas Foster-style ice cream with chunks of fresh banana and it was AMAZING. His ice cream cake was fine.

I hate writing bad reviews of small businesses, but I have to in this case to help warn other people. I have had two bad experiences with this Marble Slab. 1)I went in with a «Happy Birthday» voucher from the Marble Slab Club. The voucher clearly states you get a free cone or small cup with unlimited mix-ins. The owner refuses to give me the ice cream because he confuses the«Happy Birthday coupon» with their other promotion of a free cone/cup with the purchase of ice cream. When I show him that it is the«Happy Birthday coupon,» he realizes that it does include the ice cream. He says, «I know this coupon.» I ask him for Amaretto ice cream with strawberries. He then says mix ins are extra. I tell him that the voucher states unlimited mix ins. He says, «I am giving you the ice cream for free, you have to pay for mix ins. I know this coupon.» I give up at this point because he is shouting at me. He then proceeds to give me the smallest scoop of ice cream. 2)I bought a Groupon for an ice cream cake last year. I go to pick up the order. The store is closed when the hours online say that it will be open. The owner apparently had decided to just close the store maybe because business was slow that day. I call the next day before heading over to the store. The owner said that he was closing early, so I rush over to pick up the cake. A word of advice to the owner… do not scream at your customers, get your voucher/coupons straight, and open the store when you say it will be open. Worst service ever.

Horrible customer service. Was refused service with a groupon(they claimed it had a start date, when it CLEARLY did not, and groupon confirmed this). I called to clear it up with the manager the next day and suggested I receive the larger cake option since I was wrongfully refused yesterday and then eventually hung up on. Luckily groupon has wonderful customer service and refunded me. This location should not be allowed to have groupons in the future. I have been here in the past, but after this service will never return.

It’s official: this place sucks! It’s not the ice cream. Since it comes pre-made, they can’t screw it up. My problem with this place is they are always so friggin’ grumpy!!! I’ve never had ANYONE smile at me when I’ve come in the door. In fact, this last time, no one even came out of the back when I stood at the counter for 5 minutes. When the lady finally came out, she was bothered that I interrupted whatever it was she was doing in the back. If you want to have a nice time and have some good ice cream go elsewhere.

I left only 30 minutes ago and had to write a review as soon as I got home. What happened to this place? I live right by the Maggie Moos in the La Frontera shopping center and they’ve been out of what I want the last few times we went… so I decided to go to the place I frequented before Maggie Moos. I ordered the double dark chocolate which looked exactly like their Swiss chocolate, with peppermint patties mixed in, and had it put in a chocolate dipped waffle cone. The girl helping us didn’t smile once, and when she put the whopping TWO peppermint patties in she wasn’t wearing gloves. WTF? To add insult, instead of mixing them in she just mashed the 2 together to become 1 glob of candy amongst a lot of plain ice cream. I was charged $ 1 for two friggin pieces of fun size peppermint patties, and the amount of ice cream was so minuscule I had to take off the entire chocolate dipped part of the cone off before I got to the ice-cream. Effing ridiculous. I’m never going back to them or MM’s. Total waste of money, I’ll just go to HEB and make it myself. Get it together, your shop sucks.

I paid $ 14 through Living Social for a 6 inch ice cream cake. I called to see if they had any mint chocolate chip cakes ready and they did. He did try to sell the larger cake for $ 10 more, but I was only feeding two people, so I declined. The owner seemed like he was hurting for business. I attempted to redeam my Living Social voucher last Friday(January 18th) on the day it expired at Marble Slab Creamery off 183. My whole experience was an AWFUL. The employee that was working very sweaty and stressed out. At one point she answered the phone and was yelling at the caller about not mopping the store floor. In addition to that they did not have the Quarts of Pre-Packed Ice Cream at all.(the deal was for 2 quarts) I was told that they could not even pack a quart for me that day. I was told to give her my flavors I wanted and I could come back and pick it up in a week. She mumbled something about this was the owners idea and if she gave me ice cream that day they would run out by Tuesday. I left a message to have the owner, Mr. Patal, call me to work the issue out. He called me about 4 times in a row on Saturday afternoon during lunch.(within a 30 minute timeframe) I returned his call and he was EXTREMELY rude and arguemenative. I explained to him that was not happy with having to drive all the way out to 183 and Lakeline mall again to pick up ice cream that should have been available per the deal he had with Living Social. He inturuped me and said«just give me the flavors you want and I’ll have them ready in a few days » I attempted to give him the exact flavor that was on his website and he told me I could only pick one not a combonation of 2(peanut butter and chocolate) After me explaining that he should make some special arrangement since I will have to come twice to get my deal honored. He finally agreed(after arguing with me for at least 15 minutes) and set up a time for me to pick up the ice cream a few days later. When I did pick it up it was loosly packed and not a full quart. I will NEVEREVEREVER do business with this place again.

I bought the groupon for here on 6÷16÷11, but ended up canceling it a week later. They were trying to be sneaky about the whole thing. First I was told they were out the day I wanted to pick it up. Then I was told I could order one but they needed 4 days notice. When I went in to place an order I was told if I wanted the size cake that was in the groupon deal I had to pay $ 4 more. And the girl behind the counter was rude and could care less if I was happy or not. When I was leaving I heard her tell her boss, «Oh she didn’t really know what she wanted». Liar! Whatever.

The groupon deal is definitely a bait and switch! Their 8 inches cake is not 8 inches at all. It’s very small. I called to order a birthday cake on 7÷20÷11 at noon and pick up on 7⁄21 evening. A male clerk answered the call, and gave me three options: strawberries and cream, Swiss chocolate or Oreo. I chose Swiss chocolate. And he asked my name. I gave him all the information. And he asked if I use the groupon. I said yes. But when I got there on 7/21, they told me they don’t have my order. And they don’t have 8 inches cake for me, but they have a big Swiss chocolate cake for me, and I have to pay $ 9 extra for that. I was shocked that I had a call to reserve and they switched it to something more expensive. I should just go to HEB. But I was in a hurry. So I paid extra to get the cake. I asked the store staff to decorate the cake. She said they only have one color, red. She only can write letters with red. I asked if she can make it colorful. She said no, red is the only color she can do. HEB ice cream cake has more color options and also thicker. Marble Slab ice cream cake is pretty thin and expensive.

Once again, great ice cream but the cleanliness of this location concerns me. So I went back this evening right before closing. I came in as the employees were finishing moping the floors. The smell of bleach was a welcomed scent since my last visit. Upon further inspection, it appears the girls didn’t do such a good job moping or cleaning the pieces of candies on the counter. No big deal. Then, I visited bathroom. They had soap tonight, but no toilet paper! The bathroom was filthy on appearance. The toilet didn’t flush properly, the sink handles need repair, and no signs to remind employees to wash up. But, the worst part once again is the overwhelming smell of old urine. I gagged, held my noise and left ASAP. Please someone, clean this bathroom!
