In Austin for a Sales Meeting with reservations for a Team dinner. Nice location, rIght on 6th Street. Restaurant was divided in two: bar and restaurant. We had a long table in the middle of the restaurant(there are booths along the walls.) Nice atmosphere but super loud especially when the room filled up. There were six(or seven) entrees with a la carte sides and salads. We tried all of the entrees and there was plenty of food. The sides were easily shared among 2 – 3 people. The appetizers: calamari was good, crab bites were awesome, fried green tomatoes interesting with bacon, steak tartare on crostini and the bone marrow with sliced bread had great presentation and were flavorful. The salads: beet salad was great(beets, mango, feta cheese). The Caesar salad wasn’t very dressed and the croutons were huge but you can get extra dressing on the side. My entrée was the NY strip which was good size and well cooked. Sides included grilled asparagus, spicy crisp potatoes and spaghetti squash. Everything was very good. Lots of food, decent drinks and great service(especially for our large party) merit the four star.

This is a fairly nice place with rustic décor. I had a dozen blue point oysters followed by the the NY strip steak with the asparagus and spaghetti squash. The food was perfectly prepared with the steak precut. The whole thing was followed by the mocha chocolate tart. The martini was over shake head and way to bruised. While I ate their was a commotion out front that involved someone trying to hit a policeman and being passed for his trouble prior to his arrest. Dinner and a floor show.

The Good: The happy hour. The mac n cheese. The oysters are cheaper than perla. The dayboat scallops. The cocktails weren’t too shabby either. Location if you’re trying to do get a dinner party together on 6th. The Bad: the butternut squash(to be fair it wasn’t bad, just bland, but I can’t put that into the good part). Portion sizes for raw bar/ceviche and proteins. Loud noise compared to «intimate» ambience light setting. Kale salad doused in vinaigrette and the butternut squash yogurt around the bowl didn’t seem to add anything to the salad. The Ugly: veal(lacked flavor, pittance of sauce, texture like dry clay toothpaste). NY strip(overdone, served coldish). Terrible price/portion/quality. Adding«gratuity» tax. The Point: 2 stars. come here for a decent pre game happy hour before raging the night away on dirty 6th. Don’t come here with a date expecting a quality nice dinner, there’s so many better options around downtown.

Yeah. I met my son there for drinks after work not expecting much from this latest incarnation at this location. I’d suggest you attend this restaurant during happy hour because you can easily afford to taste test many of the items on the menu. Great oysters on the half shell too. Attentive bartenders are plentiful here and I can’t wait to head back there for a nice dinner out.

Last week was our their time eating at Parkside and we came in for my wife’s birthday. We typically stick to the raw bar and oysters but this round we tried something from all the different menu categories. These service was great even with a packed to capacity crowd. The food is absolutely fantastic. Great variety of oysters, you can’t go wrong with the raw bar; we had nine people and not one of us tried something they didn’t love. Parkside will continue to be our spot for special occasions.

Mac & Cheese, steak tartar and Manhattan are on point! Great place to eat and drink. Located on 6th St amongst a variety of bustling restaurants and bars. Great location. Calamari is alright, definitely recommend the steak tartar. NY strip has a nice charcoal flavor.

Pros: ambiance, our server was friendly and made mostly good recommendations, the food that we liked, we really liked. What tainted the experience: a friend in the group ordered a $ 12 side salad and at the server’s recommendation added protein(chicken). That turned out to double the price of this pitiful little salad, so it wasn’t really a little«add on» as it was positioned. She decided to politely bring it up and the manager really didn’t do anything to rectify it, which was unfortunate as we had a fairly large group and a pretty big bill after appetizers, drinks, entrees and desserts, and were pretty happy otherwise. As a small aside, our fries were also so salty that they were hard to eat. Overall, not a stellar experience and probably not a place I’d return to when there are so many other great options in Austin.

…the Fried Green Tomatoes and Calamari were uninspired. Truly. However, the Scallops more than earned four stars… friends who are red wine drinkers were not impressed by the selection by the glass… though I suspect the options made have been better by the bottle. I noticed they carried Duckhorn and I’m a fan The service was s teeny bit lackadaisical ~ almost to the point of being rude. Our server was pregnant I think… hormones?! Overall nice and my clients enjoyed.

Came here during their happy hour. I heard they had a great burger. When my burger arrived I was a little disappointed… It was smaller than what I’m used to. The cocktail drink I tried was really good though! Cool little place to check out.

Can you say happy hour with half priced oysters and Champagne on Wednesdays? Because I can and did and it was everything I could have wanted. We were seeing a film at the Alamo after and coincidentally, a friend had recommended this place to try for our first dinner in Austin. Girl nailed it, since this place was amazing. Warm and welcoming, we were sat right near the giant window on Dirty 6th so we were able to people watch as we ate some *truly* amazing food. We did the fried green tomatoes and the calamari, both lightly battered and served with tangy sauce. And of course the oysters, which were served perfectly chilled and came from all over the world. Each oyster was explained before devoured and you could tell they were hand selected. I didn’t read about this spot in any guidebooks or sites, but it was excellent. Do not miss it.

Probably the best place for a small bite during happy hour– they have delicious small plates. Had the charcuterie board, calamari, and experimented steak tartar for the first time in my life(I actually enjoyed it– didn’t think I would). NOTE: this place makes phenomenal old fashioneds. It was definitely one of the best I’ve had.

This has got to be the best happy hour on 6th St! ½ price craft cocktails & craft beer(mostly Tx too). I stopped in on a Thurs eve and had the Parkside 78& a $ 10 bar steak & fries. My server was attentive & made a nice cocktail. I did have a wait on my steak, which finally came perfectly cooked, slightly tough, but very good flavor. All in all this is one of the classier places in this stretch of 6th. HH is Mon-Fri till 6:30& they don’t open till 5.

We were in the unfortunate situation of being starving in Austin at 10:45 p.m. on a Friday night. Pretty much anything good closes at 11, but Parkside was the lone 4-star in my Unilocal search that closed at midnight, so we decided to give it a try. The hostess was only slightly bothered that we arrived at 11, so that was refreshing. Our server Megan was nice, too. The only problem was how poor the food was. Ceviche: served lukewarm, huge chunks of raw white onion, and about 3 oz. Scallops: fine quality, but only one had any kind of a sear on it and they were all gritty. NY Strip: worst of everything, poorest quality meat, with large pieces of unrendered fat. More than you want to know, but my date had to spit several of these into napkins. Everything else was unremarkable and not even worth typing about. I can think of a lot better places in this city to spend $ 200. The only reason to go to Parkside I can possibly imagine is to pre-game for a dirty sixth bachelorette party. You certainly would not go there for the food.

½ priceOysters and champagne on Wednesdays. Doesn’t that say it all right there? But there’s also half price apps during happy hour, which we made a meal of. The Fried egg sandwich was delicious and huge, plenty to share. The Fried green tomatoes were a first try for me and I really liked them. The Fried calamari was lightly breaded so the flavor came through wonderfully. We were seated in a booth by the front window so people watching added to the experience. Service was friendly and efficient. I really liked this place. It earned all the positive reviews it’s gotten.

5 stars due to the impeccable décor, service, and food quality. We loved our server who was very friendly and always checked to make sure we were okay throughout the meal. Found this place on the Unilocal app only on a recent visit to Austin for ACL weekend. Easily booked a last minute Open Table reservation. Love when things work out like that especially considering we knew a lot of people were in town due to the music festival. This place is in the middle of crazy 6th street and a few minutes walk from our hotel, Hilton Garden Inn. Dishes ordered: Bass — delicious! good sized portion as well. Very limey for those that might not like that, but I thought it complimented the raw fish well. Roasted corn soup — super good. They poured it into the bowl at the table. Had corn kernels at the bottom of the bowl. Purée’d and super tasty. BF got the steak entrée — it was cooked perfectly and was very tender. Mac and cheese side — one of the best mac and cheese’s i’ve eaten. Cheesy but not over the top. Good portion too because i wouldnt want to eat too much of it. Only negative comment was that it was a little loud at times in the main room, but i loved the décor with the candles and plants scattered around the room that I really didnt mind too much. People were laughing and I’m sure they were enjoying the food just as much as we did. Kudos to Parkside. I will recommend for anyone I know going to Austin in the future.

Any port in a storm, but this one turned out to be a lucky find… We were walking on 6th when we saw the rain coming, and hurried to find somewhere to hole up. This came up with decent reviews on Unilocal, and we just made it. Inside, we were greeted warmly, and service was great start to finish. It is more trendy than I like, and was pretty busy, but it turned out to be comfortable. They have a raw bar, which had a lot of business. We weren’t starving so we just ordered apps. Our friends had the ceviche, and I think they just thought it was okay. Sweetie had the mac and cheese, which was good– baked, creamy, not very cheesy inside though. We shared some calamari– a huge plate, nicely fried, kinda salty. I had the crab fritters, which were very crabby little balls of awesomeness, and came with well-seasoned asparagus. The décor was nice. Prices are pretty high, but I’ll pay that for really good food. The beer list was disappointingly small, and they were out of my first choice. All in all, a very pleasant surprise when we pretty much had to be there. I’d go back.

When I first moved to Austin, this was one of the few places I could find that reminded me of San Francisco with a great Happy Hour To boot! Unfortunately, a lot has changed since then. I came in last Tuesday at 5pm for my birthday. We wanted to enjoy the happy hour and asked for a table. The hostess very rudely told us we could not be seated until the whole party arrived. I tried to explain that people would be coming in and out and gave her a rough estimate of our maximum number. She said we could sit at the bar and wait but if we «had more Than 8 people they would NOT be able to accommodate us.» At this point the restaurant was empty minus one table and 2 people at the bar. We also weren’t planning to stay long which we told them. I could go on and on. The waitress never once smiled and wasn’t helpful or informative at all. She appeared angry everytime we ordered something. The hostesses continued to give us mean looks throughout the evening. The manager, I assume, even walked by at one point and they all stood chatting about us and glaring. We were asked to start at the bar then were seated 5 minutes later and all had to close out our tabs at their request. If you are this unhappy with your job, why not quit? If you’re a manager here, why keep employees around that ultimately lose you business? The food also was a letdown. The salmon ceviche used to be my favorite — it has shrunk in size by about half and appeared more like citrusy, chopped up cat food. The bar steak was cooked well but super salty. I was extremely bummed that this place just didn’t live up to my continued expectations. All my friends agreed the employees really put a damper on the whole evening and the experience. If I didn’t have other people showing up, we would have left immediately based off the attitudes of the two hostesses. We were also overcharged for two drinks. Actually, I was, the birthday girl :(Not a good experience.
