We came here at the end of our trip to San Antonio/Austin and after eating at La Babecue in Austin, I was hoping to get more awesome bbq and some sausage but I was wrong. When I think of BBQ I think of hot meat, great confort food, big nice portions and satisfaction at the end. Instead, I ended up with barely warm ribs and sausage, cold veggies and okay green bean casserole. I always try to do some positive on my reviews so the flavor on the ribs and sausage was good but they were really skimpy on the portions even when the restaurant had maybe 4 customers. The food is getting cold so give me more to compensate. My wife had the brisket and nothing like La Barbecue, just your average brisket here. This was very disappointing since I read most of the reviews of this place but as usual, you got to try things for yourself to know if they are really as they say.

I’ve been here 2x now… meh. I’d rather go to Slab or stumble into a new BBQ joint, this place isn’t great. it’s ok.

My company did a thanksgiving meal from this place. It was very very good! Sides were probably the best but the turkey is also up there. Everything was on time and still piping hot! Everything you could want, from sausage, turkey, to mac and cheese and pickles. Tons of sweet tea and lemons as well. Would definitely recommend the catering form here.

The BBQ is pretty good, but the prices are outrageous for what you get. I usually spend 15 bucks for a turkey plate with two sides and a coke, and the serving sizes aren’t exactly generous. Prices get downright insulting for 2 or 3 meat plates.

Stopped in on my break for a baked potato… it was so brown on the inside. like day old, second day sale. it was almost petrified inside. 10.00 for crap food. Just left it on the dirty table and walked out. No stars guys… work on quality. i was forced to put one star

BBQ is not something I usually crave, but something I’ll enjoy once I have it. Stopped by Pok-e-Jo’s as its not a far drive from my friend’s place, and ordered a 2-meat plate, which includes two sides and a Texas toast. The person taking my order was really nice, I think he could tell it was my first time here. I chose brisket and chicken for my meats, and had pinto beans and Texas fries for my sides. The food was great — the meats were moist and the BBQ sauce delicious. The only complaint I had was that my fries tasted a little bit soggy even though they had just brought it out to us(hence taking away a star, but really you should read this as a 4.5 star review). After we finished eating, as this was my first time here, and we saw trash cans near by, we decided to go throw our trash away and was met by one of the employees saying«STOP!!,» which startled me a bit, only to find out that he would take care of our finished plates. The service was exceptional, and I would definitely come back again.

we had pok-e-jo’s deliver for our wedding and they were great! they were timely, and super helpful with organizing and making sure everything was correct. They were speedy to set up and the food was delicious! Having the food delivered instead of catered saved us a ton of money! Would recommend this place and the delivery option to anyone having a party or backyard-style wedding!

Friendly staff, tender meat, the side dishes were good as well. I’m glad we went to this place and would be happy to return in the future. A 3-meat combo plate(about $ 13.99 + tax) is enough to share with a friend. If you split it, that’s about $ 7.50 per person, so not a bad deal.

First of all, the food is great. The Green Bean Casserole is one of my favorites. That’s not what this review is about though… We went in to get some dinner to go a week ago… and we got a little of everything. It’s impossible not to when you are going down the line and see how good everything looks. When we got to the register, I reached in my purse and my wallet was not there! I had a bit of a panic attack, but said to set the food aside and I was going to run home, grab my wallet, and come right back. Jackie was not having that. She actually told me to just take the food while it’s still hot and just to pay next time I was in there. I was shocked by this customer service. We ran home with the food and came right back with payment. One of the young men working there seemed shocked that we actually returned with payment. We live very close to the Parmer location, so when we finally got back home the food was still hot and delicious! Great people, great food, and just great feelings. Thanks for a great experience, JACKIE! PS– I used to manage the Food and Beverage department at a golf course in South Austin and have worked with Doug and the entire staff at the Brodie Oaks location on numerous occasions. They are my first choice for catered BBQ as well(and I’ve worked with them all)!

No thanks! l’ve had much better BBQ since I’ve been in Austin. This small establishment looks like it would meet all the requirements for great BBQ but sadly it doesn’t even come close. The staff was very friendly and served decent portion sizes… nice! I ordered the 2 meat convo with 2 sides and a order of banana pudding. The brisket was just dry, unflavored and not as moist compared to some of the other BBQ places. I look for that salty crust on the edges of my brisket and it was completely missing. I also tried the sausage links which were just ok. I was happy that at least they weren’t saturated in grease. For sides I ordered the cheese mashed potatoes and broccoli salad. I actually enjoyed the broccoli salad however my potatoes were cold and stiff. Now, in my world banana pudding is banana pudding so it’s hard to mess up. All in all, I’ll continue to venture to my other tried and true BBQ spot. Sorry.

I grew up in South Florida and recently moved the Austin area, so I can’t say i’ve ever had real BBQ before. So for my first non-fast foot style dinner, my friends recommend to do a pick-up order from Pok-E-Jo’s. I called in, and told them they were the lucky winners of helping me pick out some BBQ for newbie. They recommended the Chicken, Brisket and Potato Salad while I picked Jalapeño Cornbread myself. My order was ready in 10 minutes! When picking it up I also saw the Peach Cobbler and had to pick up some. So. Wow. Everything was incredibly delicious. My favorite being the Jalapeño Cornbread. I even finished the chicken off and usually I get pretty bored of chicken after a few bites. I’m ecstatic that this place is so close to my new home and will certainly be going back.

Hit or miss. Up and down. You may have to be specific about how you like your brisket. It’s not bad, and has a good smoke flavor. But if you like bark, let them know. Fat, let them know. The slicers always seem to slice the brisket in a way I don’t like. Even when I’m specific. I recently ordered a half pound to eat at the restaurant, and had to leave a few inedible slices on the plate. I never leave barbecue on the plate. It was sad. The servers seem friendly most of the time. The sauce is a little too thick for my tastes. I have tried other locations, and they are fine. But this one always lets me down somehow. So my advice when you go to this one: Be specific. Get your sauce on the side. Get crackers for your sausage. Ask for a few slices of bread. Get lots of pickles and onions. And some pico de gallo. Drink lots of that tea. It’s good.

For the Austin Area, this place is just ok. Not bad but not great. Ribs had a nice rub and were tender. I was sad to have received dry brisket. It was nice and peppery too. Staff is friendly. Place is clean. I will return.

I survive the road using Unilocal and large chains. This gem was close to a walking trail at Wells Creek Park so gave it a shot. The staff is courteous and friendly the pork loin cooked well and staff choice of side’s is spot on. Thank you Unilocalers for taking the time to write reviews. I will return while in the Austin area.

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed them yet. This is one of our favorite bbq places. Service and quality of food are always spot on. I usually get two meat plate that comes with 2 sides. My choices are always brisket and ribs. My husband usually gets sausage and turkey. The bbq sauces are also really great. I do love their Mac n cheese and jalapeño cornbread casserole. I’ve just started getting their huge chef salad with a very hefty size of brisket. It’s actually a really pretty and tasty salad. Yum yum!

Meh best fits our meal at this location. My sister and I were staying at the Domain and were in need of a quick dinner. I had read the reviews here and so we popped over. The menu looked promising and I liked how many side dish options were available. I went for the two meat plate and had brisket and sausage, with the green bean casserole and potato salad. My sister had the chicken and pulled pork with mac and cheese and a side salad. Pricing wasn’t bad considering the very ample portions we received. Food though, wasn’t wonderful. The brisket was tender and good. My sausage was sad, with a grey steamed casing and extremely red meat inside. The best thing on my plate was the potato salad, which was delicious. My sister found her chicken and pork to be ok, but the mac and cheese was very processed. Unless we ordered poorly or came on an off day, I would recommend looking elsewhere for bbq. The tipping point for us was the tv being broadcast throughout the restaurant, playing a 20⁄20 style show about gruesome details of woman who killed her third husband. While families with small children sat around us, eating away to the sounds of their interviews. Maybe stick to music vs tv time.

Our work team went here for lunch yesterday. Overall I would describe this place as «meh». Not in any way objectionable nor memorable. Service was fast. I got a sliced beef sandwich combo with broccoli salad and a beverage. The beef was tender and served in a McDonalds hamburger like bun. The BBQ sauce tasted a little like ketchup. The broccoli salad was fairly bland but the soda was huge! A coworker of mine got a baked potato that looked pretty good. If I go back maybe I’ll try that.

I’ve always liked this place, they are always consistent with the food and the customer service is on par as well. The reason for my review today is for my experience yesterday. I decided to get our office staff lunch from here and called them when I was on the way, about 10 minutes from the restaurant. The guy on the phone was very nice and helpful and took my order very quickly. I thought that an order of that size would take some time, but it was ready at the counter when I arrived. The food was perfect, our staff loved it and I didn’t have to wait in line to order when I got there.

Decided to head out for an early dinner and ran into this little gem. My husband is more the BBQ fanatic so it takes a lot to impress me. I had the Pokeeto plate(haha!) which is just a smaller serving of food. My husband went straight for the three meat plate. The chopped beef was rich and clean. I was happy to have enjoyed my meal without running into any fat or gristle whatsoever. The sides are where I deducted one star; they mac n cheese, potato salad and okra were good but didn’t leave me wanting any of Pok’s mama’s recipes. Service was great and the manager went the extra mile to ensure we were happy with our food. Real nice guy!
