I got my hair straightened with Kim over a year ago– she did the global keratin and I absolutely loved it. It lasted for a really long time. I wanted to make an appointment with her again because I loved it so much but unfortunately she was on maternity leave so she recommended another stylist. When I called Salon Presly to make an appointment, I asked if getting a hair cut was included in the straightening and she said yes. I have donated 10 inches of my hair before to locks of love and I was looking to do so again but she said my hair would end up too short– it would be to my ears. However, she cut off 6 inches and my hair was still way past my shoulders so I could have easily donated the 10 inches and I am very upset I wasn’t able to. When she was done, I felt my hair and it didn’t feel like it did last time(or the previous 4 other times I have had my hair straightened elsewhere) but I decided to give it a couple days and maybe it would be fine. Before I got out of the chair my hair was really uneven. One side was notably longer than the other. When I pointed this out, she got the scissors and tried to even it out. It still felt really uneven in the back but since I couldn’t see the back real well I just assumed she could tell it was straight. Last time I bought Enjoy shampoo and conditioner but apparently they were out. In fact, she did not have any shampoo for keratin hair and had to buy them from another stylist to sell me. It was the global keratin brand which was much more expensive. After I got back to my apartment I knew the back of my hair was not even but I tried to be optimistic. I knew my hair didn’t feel right/like it was supposed to and it still felt frizzy. Several days later when I washed my hair, it went right back to being wavy and frizzy. And even worse, my scalp/hair had these thick white pieces in it. It felt kind of like glue and I was just picking it out of my hair. When I washed my hair a second time, the white stuff didn’t go away and my hair looked like I had really thick dandruff in it… I called Salon Presly twice on a Friday trying to get a hold of the stylist and was told she wasn’t working but would get the message when she came in. I expressed how frustrated I was and that I had gotten it straightened for a wedding for the next week and the owner said he would text her. I didn’t hear from her until Monday when I got a text saying that she was told I had a problem with the keratin treatment. I explained to her what happened and she said she had never experienced that before but would be happy to give me a refund for the keratin. I said okay and she said she would send me a check for $ 200 for the keratin. I spent $ 333. Apparently, it was $ 50 for the haircut(which not only was I told it was included, but I ended up with uneven hair), and $ 40 for the shampoo/conditioner and tip. However, I was only getting $ 200 back. I went to another salon by my house to get it straightened and my hair was so uneven they refused to cut it to try to straighten it out. They took a picture of the back for me and there is just this drop– it looks like someone just came and cut a chunk of hair on one side(I would upload a picture but I don’t know how). So the salon straightened it but because all the layers were uneven and one side was substantially shorter than the other, they told me I had to wait for it to grow out more before they could try to make it even. After washing my hair multiple times, they were able to get that white stuff out of my hair– and they had no idea what it is was or what it was from. It could be from the keratin or the shampoo I paid $ 40 from, no one knows. I wasn’t going to say anything to Salon Presly, but my friend convinced me to. I sent a long text to the owner detailing everything I wrote above and attached a picture of my hair, and I’ve never heard back. That was over a week ago. I was going to contact her directly to deal with this but after not hearing anything for a week I decided I needed to post this. I am very frustrated with this place. Pretty much I paid $ 333 to get a terrible haircut which I was told was included, 3 hours of straightening that didn’t work, $ 40 for shampoo/conditioner that didn’t help(and possibly made my hair get white chunks) and a generous tip for the above services.

I see Paula Penshorn and she is awesome. She does great color and cuts. I definitely recommend her. I also got my husband coming to her so he doesn’t come home from cheap places with crazy hair.

Kinda late for this review! But love Kim she’s so sweet… and knowledgeable! I’m very particular about who touches my hair, because i know not a lot of stylist can really do thick curly hair. But she hooked me up, with a color, cut and blowout… I must say i was very impressed! Can’t wait to return for my Brazilian Blowout!

Visited Salon Presley for first time– Lara(my stylist) from Urban Betty moved to Salon Presley. It was easy to find and tastefully decorated. Both classy and laid back comfortable environment. Lara is very talented and knowledgeable about curly hair. There doesn’t seem to be a limit to the time she has for each client. She works very meticulously. Lara is kind and a truly talented hair professional. She has never disappointed and I have been to many salons in the Austin area until finding her.

I’ve been going to Salon Presly to see Crystal for several months now and love my hair more and more each time I leave. Most recently I had a keratin treatment done and I cannot believe the results. Crystal is right; this is the best thing since sliced bread! Crystal always picks out the right color and trims my hair to just the right shape, without me even knowing exactly what I want most of the time. The salon is clean and inviting and the other stylists are very friendly. I’d recommend Crystal to everyone!

I can’t believe it has taken me so long to write a review about this fabulous salon. I have known Crystal and Michael B. for years, from separate salons, so when they came together — I knew it would be great. There is only one other stylist, Kim, and while I can’t attest to her skills, she is quite lovely and sweet, and her dog, Sookie, is precious. There’s always someone in her chair, so I’d say she’s good. Crystal is a skilled and experienced stylist, wonderful with color and with scissors. She always has the best products on hand, as well. Michael has to be the most meticulous hair stylist I’ve ever met. You will get the best haircut in town, and he’s just the nicest guy you’ve ever met. The salon itself is inviting and cozy. I love the décor. The central location is also a plus. Get an appointment ahead of time. These folks are in demand. I’ll never go anywhere else!

Coming from a girl who has had atrocious things done to her hair before, going to Kim to get my hair cut and highlighted was a breath of fresh air. It was everything that I was looking for. My friend had recommended Kim to me knowing that I had been extremely disappointed in the past by hair stylists and she raved about Kim. I walked in, still unsure. However, after entering the salon, I was put at ease. The light blue walls, fancy light fixtures, and dark wood floors made the salon feel very relaxed. My friend and I sat down on a large, light blue couch and Kim came up to us introduced herself to me and hugged my friend. I liked that they had a good relationship. Kim then spent a good 10 minutes talking to me about my hair. What I wanted, what would fit my face, what she could do and I was impressed. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and told me what would work with my hair. She explained everything that she was going to do and even gave me some tips to try. At the end of the appointment, she even gave me a free sample of a product that she wanted me to try and I must say, I love the product and have used it every day since the hair cut. When I went to work the next day, my co-workers raved about my hair cut and in turn, I was sold. Kim is now my hair stylist.
