I really have no idea why all the negative reviews on here about Dr. Westgate or her staff. I have seen Dr. Westgate for years and found her, her staff and her PAs to be extremely knowledgeable and extremely caring. They are busy, but at my first appointment, they had literally reviewed my ENTIRE medical history to help diagnose me. They have since worked with me for years to fine tune everything and they explore therapies that are both common and new to ensure they have exhausted options. I am extremely thankful for all of Dr. Westgate and Annette and Mary’s help throughout the years. They are there to help you and think outside the box to ensure you are better off than when you first saw them. I can’t say enough good things. Thank you Dr. Westgate and your staff!!!

I waited about 1 month to see this Doc. I don’t recommend her at all. Bad bedside manners and was a bit distracted. Her nurse gave me a shot and my arm still hurts after two months. I think that medicine is geared to make maximum profits and not finding real solutions for patients.

Dr. Westgate is honest, direct and quite open minded. I am so grateful to have her on my medical team. She treats the whole body which is very hard to find. Her PA’s and RN’s — well the whole team is so very helpful and follow-up quickly. I recently had an insurance snafu with my medication and they worked hard to solve it for me. I truly appreciated a practice such as this.

I’d been to two other Neurologists in Austin over the past 5 years; one was good, one was bad, both had poorly run offices. Dr. Westgate has a wonderful staff and office. They run on time, can always get me in, and are friendly. As a doctor, I will be forever thankful that due to her taking time and listening, not just to my immediate issue but to the greater story of my health, she diagnosed(and then tests came back to support) an issue that has and would continue to have a severe impact on my life. And yet it is easily treated and rarely discussed in healthcare — maybe because of it. Thank you to Dr. Westgate and her staff.

I was a patient of Dr. Westgate for quite some time and I actually only started going there because of her PA.(Who has since moved on and SO have I) She is very brash, doesn’t listen to you as a patient and bullies you into treatments that you aren’t sure of or have the time to research. She gave me a treatment that not only didn’t work for me but actually caused me physical harm and left me with a deficit for over a year. I’m still dealing with the fallout a year later. She and her staff were terrible to me throughout the 12 week ordeal that I tried to stay there and deal with it. Even though it was HER fault, she tried to act like I had done something wrong. There was a point where they actually took me into a room and she and a(new) PA actually yelled at me! I’ve never seen such unprofessional people in my whole life. I would NEVER recommend anyone going to this practice or this Doctor. She is the most uncaring, unsympathetic person I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with in my life. Do yourself a a favor and find someone who cares more about your health and less about her bottom line. If I could give ZERO stars I would.

Unfortunately, I would actually give zero stars if it were an option. Although Dr. Westgate’s website gave me great hopes, I have never been so frustrated as I have been in trying to make my initial appointment with Dr. Westgate. I first called and the message suggested first time patients could go online to set up their first appointment. I went online and filled out the form. There was a statement that stated if you did not receive a phone call within 48 hours to call the office. I waited a week, no call. I called the office, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to speak with a human. Every option on the recording leads you to an answering machine. I have left 2 messages in the past 2 weeks and today I left my last and final message. I am assuming Dr. Westgate is either too busy or poorly manages her practice. Neither of these are good for patients. After reading other reviews, I now realize that Dr Westgate is NOT the doctor I would want to see if after waiting 4 weeks, an online message and 3 voicemails later — noone had the decency to even respond to me. I’m back on the search for a great neurologist in Austin…

Dr. Westgate’s front office staff was great. When I requested a new patient appointment first they asked my reason for the visit. It turns out they saved me time and money because she doesn’t really treat the type of symptoms I was having. They suggested another neurologist with whom they often work.

If I could give zero stars I would… Note-I have not actually seen Dr. Westgate. She comes highly recommended but when I called to make an appointment for my partner who has been diagnosed with essential tremors and we need a second opinion they told me Dr. Westgate was to busy to do that and they couldn’t make an appointment. What? I personally had seen a PA over there at her clinic a couple of years ago and while the treatment for something completely unrelated to my call today was good I specifically remember it was like trying to pull teeth to call and speak to anyone there and do anything outside the norm. They are great if you fit in their schedule but not so great if you have special needs. Today confirmed that. Skip this one and see someone else.

Read a lot of nice things about Dr. Westgate to bad can’t experience any of them. Taking new patients I think not… After NOT hearing back by phone from the office we went ahead and filled out the on-line request. Received an email response the next morning«Dr Westgate is completely booked up through October. We actually stopped taking new patients due to her booked schedule». You know a nice little considerate blurb about not taking new patients on her actual website would be nice instead of wasting people’s time and energy OR actually say that with the initial phone call instead of we will get back with you. Makes you wonder! I hope she is five stars for her existing patients! Because her office staff got her a one star from me for dropping the ball. It was appreciated that the email included some other doctor names but they aren’t taking new patients. Since that was a nice gesture I did give them a second star.

Dr. Westgate’s model of medical practice should be the benchmark for patient and healthcare management. Her staff is responsive, informed and efficient(existing patients can make appointments via email!).
