Wow, super good, had the Field Trip and my friend had the Substitute and we were both beyond happy. The pickles are super yummy too. And the man that took our orders was incredibly nice. Didn’t know what to expect but was really glad I tried this place, can’t wait to go back! DELICIOUS!

I came back a second time for the food truck’s redemption. I had been won. Service was great — the guy taking our order and making our food was super nice. The sandwiches are great, if cold sandwiches with the works is your thing. The guy did forget our water bottle, and my friend wasn’t as impressed with the sandwiches as me. Taking those two into account, I have updated Short Bus from 1 star to 4 stars.

I like this place and I feel a LITTLE bad writing this review, but I think it needs to be out there. I’ve tried to go to this bus AND the one on Airport several times over the past month during the POSTEDOPENHOURSONTHEIRSITE, only to find no bus. Short Bus Subs DOESN’T FOLLOWTHESCHEDULEONTHEIRWEBSITE. I have tried to go to this location several times over the last month and the bus wasn’t even there, even though the website indicated they were open. It’s a total waste of my time to drive out there only to find nothing. I know I’m in the right place because I’ve been here before many times. Not updating your schedule is disrespectful to customers. I won’t bother trying to go back because for all I know, no one will be there and it’ll end up being another time waster. I understand you’re a bus and you can move around, but make an EFFORT to update where you’re going to be.

It has taken me a while to get over Short Bus letting down my organization in the past, but eating at the different trucks managed by varying employees has lifted my hopes. Specifically, it is difficult to not eat at an institution that offers superb bread. With decent pricing, these sandwiches boast all that you could ask for – barring locally cured meats, if you are that into. I’m pretty snobby. Thus, I stick with the veggie options. They seem to treat most sandwiches like a pizza canvas – mozzarella, cream cheese, olives, peppers, avocado, and hummus. Everything is fair game. You know that excitement you got as a child(or sometimes even now, with more extreme flavors) when you threw everything onto a pizza crust? As the name implies, Short Bus creates basic, elementary subs, so with simple flavors, good bread, and prices that are easy on the wallet, you can’t go wrong.

$ 6 for a tiny sub just isn’t something that I find worth it’s price. The only rrason I came here was to redeem my PayPal coupon which didn’t even work. And when I asked them for a refund they said they have no way of fixing it, which leaves me extremely unsatisfied and full of regret. They even said they’ve had the problem before, so don’t risk it. I am glad to say I will never be coming back here and sticking to jimmy johns for a better deal and better experience.

Amazing subs! I’m am a vegetarian and my sweet heart is definitely not. I get the Hot Teacher and he gets the Class Clown… One word– AMAZING! I keep telling my friends about this place but we live right off of airport and it’s always closed when the hours on the website say they are open. The guy at airport is down right rude(when you actually get there when they are around) but the guy off campus is awesome and nice… Both places make great subs and it sucks to drive past the location right by your house because they don’t keep their hours but it’s worth the drive.

Food trucks are a paradox. The reason they are awesome is that they’re mobile. The great food can come straight to you. For the same reason, they can be a real pain. Some food trucks address this issue head on by either staying in the same place or providing a detailed calendar that indicates the location. However, when that goes bad, it gets«Eek! Methinks not» bad. Monday, March 17, 2014. I find myself with a hunger that can only be satiated with foot truck food. The Short Bus Campus location is nearby and I checked the calendar on Short Bus’ website. Great. Bus IV is at 2512 Rio Grande and it’s open. Lo and behold, when I arrive, the bus is not there. I call the only number I can find on the website and ask where Bus IV is. The person on the phone couldn’t even tell me where the bus might be. Just that it probably wasn’t open. The man on the phone In short, Short Bus has decent sandwiches(I mean, they’re just sub sandwiches, so they’re fighting an uphill battle – how remarkable can they be?) and I will review the other locations accordingly. But don’t be so unreliable. If you say you’ve put in your schedule that you’re going to be somewhere and will be open, you should really be there.

I got the Principal here since it seemed to be the most popular. It was my first time trying it. This sandwich was LOADED with meats and veggies. It comes nicely toasted, the flavors melded together perfectly, and turned out better than I expected. A little pricey for a sandwich, but I’ll probably be coming back again when I have a craving for a toasted sub. The guy inside was pretty cool too.

For a trailer, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this sub. I got the Principal which is like a club sandwich and it was delicious! The sub was packed with meat and loaded with veggies(I love me some veggies) and it totally filled me up. I swapped out the dijon for honey mustard which was the best decision ever. I actually craved it pretty badly the next day, but I resisted the temptation. Only con, it’s pretty pricey: $ 6 for a 6 inch and $ 11 for a footlong. If I didn’t have the PayPal deal, I probably wouldn’t have gotten it. Definitely worth a try though!

Is a decent place to get a sub., The people are nice, the food is overpriced, but I guess you pay for the convenience. Only 3 stars because it’ cost damn near 12 dollars for a footlong sub, but you pay for the convenience,. Check it out if you are ever on campus.

So far I have only tried the Principle, but I can’t wait to try other sandwiches. Short Bus is good, affordable, and fast. I was happy to see a lot of hip, chic, experimental collages of flavor on the menu, and it all looks like stuff that would be fun to try at least once. There are even light and vegetarian options! As for a staple, I like the Principle because I just love a good club sandwich, but most of the Deli sandwiches look good. I especially want to try the Bully and the Class Clown. I also wouldn’t mind giving a few of the different variations of the Mascot a try. Short Bus’s meat portions are generous and it seems like most of the subs are a pretty hearty meal well worth the money. Short Bus is more of a richer, more flavorful, home-made and higher quality feel than the corporate subs of Jimmy John’s, which I feel have artificial-looking bread, and skimp a bit on the meat. I would say Short Bus is a sub on par with but completely different from Thundercloud. Those of a certain taste might even think Short Bus is better than Thundercloud, but I wouldn’t personally go that far. I’m a huge Thundercloud fan and will never give them up, but Short Bus is something totally different and very interesting. The kind of thing you would like if you wanted a sub but were just sick of Thundercloud at the moment. Looking forward to eating here more often now that I live within walking distance of the Short Bus in West Campus. The people who work there seem pretty cool too, if you care about supporting cool people, which I definitely do.

OK, I’d rather have more ingredients than bread, and I feel like they’re a little heavy on the bread here. That being said, the ingredients they do use are really good. During SXSW they were set up in an alley off of Red River and 6th with some other trailers, so I stopped by the see my friend(working up a storm in that tiny bus) and try it out. And now that I’m finally writing this I honestly cannot remember what I had. But it was a sandwich, and it was fine.(Fricano’s might be my favorite though)

I got a foot-long Field Day. For 11 dollars, I expected my sub to chock-full of toppings. Instead, it was essentially all bread. I won’t be going back.

The Short Bus is one of the new trailers that opened up on the corner lot of 26th and Rio Grande in West Campus near UT. I decided to try it with a couple of my friends, since how could you go wrong with sandwiches? Apparently a lot can go wrong. So I paid $ 6.00 for the Spring Break 6 inch sub which is smoked turkey, bacon, lettuce, swiss, tomato, and ranch dressing on toasted bread. I’m by no means a picky person when it comes to food but the amount of «sandwich» that I got for the money that I paid for was incredibly lacking. One of the most forgettable and disappointing sandwiches I have ever eaten. There was maybe one slice of turkey in my sandwich and the bacon was just bits of bacon. All I remember was eating bread that I could’ve done a better job toasting myself. Let me put it into perspective — you can go to Walmart and get one of their foot-long pre-made sandwiches in their deli section for $ 5.48 and they don’t skimp out on any of the toppings especially the meat. If you want a sandwich, don’t bother coming to short bus subs because you can take your business to any other sandwich shop(Fricano’s, Jimmy Johns, Subway, Thundercloud, etc…) in the area and get more for your money.
