So I forgot I needed to gas up and the closest place was that shady Major Brand Gas place across from the nudie bar by Opal’s. Passing by the Mexi Market I noticed that El Paisa was gone!!! Nooooooooooo! What happened to El Paisa? Where did they go? Did they move? Somebody, anybody I need answers?! Then I saw a huge cloud of smoke coming from a new taco truck in the Major Brand gas lot. Pos, I had to try one. There were two guys serving up tacos, tortas, even piping hot frijoles rancheros. All I had was a pollo asado taco. It was generously served with meat, and of course I got mine«con todo» which means«all-the-way»(guac, onions, cilantro) in a double corn tortilla. I was able to make two little tacos out of my one. Good stuff, I tell ya. The roasted jalapeño salsa was my favorite but their salsa red is fresh and espicy! Did I mention my taco was only $ 2? Will return. El Paisa, who?

Taqueria Julio is the best taco trailer operating on the strip of S. Congress between Crow Bar, The 04 Lounge, and 290. They serve Puebla-style tacos: basically, your choice of protein with tomato-less guacamole and fixings like lime, suuuuper spicy green sauce(highly recommended), and fresh cucumbers(perfect counterpoint to the green sauce). Their protein choices are chicken, beef, sausage, along with mixes of those three. They also serve tortas. I recommend the chicken/beef mix taco — very flavorful on its own, and adding sauces or veggies only makes it better. Their chicken can sometimes be a little dry, but it’s well-marinated and cheap. I’ve gone before, but I went last night after getting off work. There are, at most, three people working there, but usually one or two. The trailer was a bit slammed, with maybe 10 people waiting in line or for food. Needless to say, at 3AM most people were in some state of intoxication, but the guy in front of me was a real asshole about it by harassing the workers inside while claiming he worked at a restaurant. Obviously, us people behind him got our food first. What a tool. So please, treat these guys well. They make some great late-night food in an area where the only options are mediocre taco trucks, fast food chains, or P. Terry’s — not necessarily the worst situation, but one where something unique like Puebla cuisine might not flourish.
