We were greeted to moment we walked in and we’re sat immediately, 3 minutes later another table was sat next to us they get their drinks and their food order and we are still waiting to be greeted… The booths are literally connected and the server and I made eye contact 5 minutes before still nothing. I’ve never been to a restraint where the staff and a manager walked past us with no drinks or anything on our table and didn’t ask if we have been greeted I know In my restraunt this would be unexceptable for my staff to act this way…

I normally really like this place. Today I waited an hour and was not seated. I had come in several times during that hour to check. Finally I came in and they said they called me several times but they had the wrong name down. I was then seated by a table with an active four year old. UGH. when my waitress came and asked me how my morning word I told her I waited an hour even after coming in to check the name they were calling. She was very nice and sympathetic then brought the manager over. Manager again apologized and was very nice. She said that there was someone new up front but I knew there wasn’t because the same lady was there when I was here a few months ago. The manager was nice and said they would pay for my breakfast so at least they were nice sympathetic and tried to make good on their mistake. The child behind me was a loud and disruptive and sitting right behind me I turned around a few times to give the parents the eye.(of lets have some respect here) the mother seemed to be louder and unconcerned of my discomfort. So I picked up my food and drink and move to another table this does not seem to bother them at all. After I moved I heard the mother say something about I wouldn’t want to meet her in a dark alley! Which yes this is true but control your flippin kid when you’re in a restaurant so others don’t have to put up with it. I had three kids raised them with manners and respect and did not let them act out in public. The the child has nothing to do with the restaurant I just had to add the way the rest of my breakfast went. Oh yeah and I’m not sure I got what I ordered and they did not bring my english muffin. But I had enough to eat anyway and it was free. Usually this is a very good place I was going to include my waitress’s name and thank her but I was unable to get it before I left she knows who she is and thank you. l

Food: 2 stars. Eggs are okay, nothing special. Burgers are horrible. Service: 3 stars, waiter hardly checked on us. He was friendly though. Price: 1 star, nothing special about these eggs to make them this price. The restaurant was mostly clean, but could’ve used some attention. Edit for Micahel F. who commented: I know you can’t change the prices much, if any. Least concern. The eggs were dry, almost powdered tasting. The waiter gave us drinks and only returned to give us food and give us the ticket. Never to actually check on us. The patty was awful. It was frozen bits of meat stuff, pressed together. It tasted like rubber. The floors were pretty dirty. Not disgusting, but noticeable. I raised the stars to 3 stars because you actually cared to answer the review.

First time at an Egg and I. I liked it. Clean restaurant; was seated promply. I ordered the Greek fratada which was good but not as described in the menu. I mainly ordered it because the description said it came with feta cheese but what was given to me was maybe motsarella, I know it wasn’t feta. I’m not picky so I ate it. Other than that, everything was good. Prices were reasonable and I’d come again.

This place is great for breakfast. A variety of food options, you can’t go wrong. This time I had the cinnamon French toast, it was okay, could have be more moist and soft. My hubs ordered the crab cake Benedict and loved it.

So we finished an early morning hockey game this rainy Sunday and wanted to head some place warm for breakfast. I was looking for where to go, but as we pulled through the parking lot, we found the Egg and I. My wife Unilocaled it quickly, read some reviews, warned me not to stop and I replied, «Come on. How do you screw up breakfast? Let’s try it». Boy was I wrong… My son opined that the place smelled like a combination of boiled potatoes and baby wipes. I thought that it might have just been dirty dishrags. Either way, I knew that we were not going to be in for a treat at this place. The food was BAD. Not kinda bad, but just BAD. Like really BAD. Like there was no good to be found, other than the friendliness of the staff. They were very friendly, very helpful, very understanding. They were kind enough to take my dish off the bill. They removed the $ 8.29 worth of easy-over eggs with a healthy portion of egg shell in them, as well as the side of oh my god, I can’t believe they just served me disgusting frozen sausage patties from Costco or something, along with my cold white toast. My son, the sugar addict, couldn’t even finish his waffle due to the amount of salt in the batter. My guess is that most people are just too polite when wait staff and restaurant managers ask you how the food is, because they seemed shocked that we didn’t like our food. Literally shocked. My wife’s scrambled eggs were powdered and or microwaved, or something. I mean, come on! Zero quality. It was kind of funny when they asked us. The waitress kept apologizing, like it was her fault. It really wasn’t… Again, to sum up. People there were great. Really nice, polite, friendly, helpful, and sweet. I could go on. The food… well, to really paint the picture properly — — I’ve had better breakfasts on overnight flights… :(So sorry, The Egg and, I but it’s true. You guys really need to up the quality of your food.

Service was excellent! The atmosphere was extremely comfortable and relaxing. The food tasted very good, they had a good variety. It was a nice Saturday treat, I will be returning. Oh and I had the seasonal pumpkin coffee, which was nice and smooth. Overall a good place in Austin for breakfast. The food is not the best breakfast I’ve ever had, but definitely enjoyable! And for the price I can’t complain.

Not my favorite place but it works in a pinch. The waffle was great, the bacon was crisp and the eggs were okay. I like the fact they have grapefruit juice.

I can’t give out a Raving review as I wasn’t impressed by the atmosphere, or the food. My Waitress on the other hand was Awesome. Kristi I believe is her name. She’s adorable and friendly. I ordered the combo special with ½ a Ruben sandwich and a small Greek style salad. Understandably the salad was a bit salty with the Kalamata olives and Feta cheese. The Ruben was just ok. Of course I will be returning eventually, as they gave me a «surprise» coupon that I’m not supposed to open till I do return. So eventually I’ll end up there with Pamela F. Ok so EVERYTHING is around $ 10.00 other than drinks of course. I ordered a coca-cola with my meal so they brought me a cup and a little carafe of coke as well. So that’s kinda neat…

I love The Egg and I. If I’m up and out early enough, I can’t not go. I literally always get the same thing. Can’t help it. Because it’s just so damn good. The green chili chicken hash with over easy eggs is the greatest thing my taste buds have ever been blessed with tasting. Everything you need is in that little skillet and you’re full as hell like midway through but you just HAVE to keep eating. Anyways, I always have a lovely time when I go, no matter which location. Service is good and friendly and The Egg and I needs a better star rating. They deserve it.

Just OK. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. Very few choices on smaller portion dishes. Pricey to say the least. In my opinion I’d consider lunch here but will drive by in the morning.

I love this place. I’ve never had a bad experience and I would go here before any other breakfast spot. The restaurant is clean, the staff is always friendly and the manager is always around greeting guests, running around with hot food, or running the hostess stand. The benedicts are amazing, the pancakes are huge, and the coffee is delicious. I can order a healthy omelet just the way I want, or indulge in a eggs benedict option with pork green chili and those addicting ranch potatoes on the side. It can get busy here but there is always fresh coffee in the waiting area for guests while they wait. Trust me, you’ll want to wait.

I love breakfast. I could eat it all day everyday. I finished at the dentist really early one morning and needed a place for food and to get some work done. I had to go to work in a few hours so I didn’t want to over indulge on breakfast. I was seated quickly and was greeted by a server a few minutes after. In between I was getting my stuff out to get some work done. I ordered the Chicken Apple Sausage Scramble — Egg whites scrambled with chicken apple sausage, fresh mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, onions and spinach. Topped with Gouda cheese, tomatoes and green onions. The server knew I was there to get some business done. She took my order, brought me my orange juice, a glass of water with a carafe of water and delivered my food. She asked if I needed anything else and let me be. She checked on me once or twice and delivered my check to me and told me to take it up front whenever I was ready. Food seemed a little cold and bland. It was alright. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day so it was good I was getting a good meal in. Everything was good but nothing really exciting. My breakfast came with a fruit cup and the it looked pretty and fresh. I ate most of that also. One that was fun for me that morning was the people watching. Eating breakfast at 8AM I got to people watch lots of older folks. There was a group of 4 older gentlemen. It was interesting eavesdropping on their conversations when I wasn’t completely immersed in my work. There’s Egg and I’s popping up everywhere. The place and the food is ok. With so many other breakfast places in Austin, if I’m in a hurry, in a bind, or near the area with no other breakfast options I’ll come here.

2 words: Huge Pancakes! They have the biggest, best pancakes! The apple pancake is full of fresh apples and is so delicious. I usually order the loaded potatoes too which are awesome minus the bacon. My experiences here have always been good to great with the staff, never a bad time. The décor is a little bit grammy with crap you may see in an old farmhouse but i can look past all that for their food!

The menu here is solid and you pretty much cannot go wrong. Last time I went, I got the green chili chicken hash w/a side of biscuits and gravy(very on point), and the GF got the eggs benedict. Both very happy w/everything including the service. eye balling that cordon bleu skillet for our next visit.

I didn’t find the server particularly friendly, it’s clear that there were locals here. A guy game in 10 mins after us, asked for his usual and got his food before us, even though we ordered first. Nice. We were put in a back room with all the other kids in the restaurant, I felt like we were being ostracized into a Kid annex. I made the fatal mistake of once again, ordering an Egg and I skillet, and expecting a bloody skillet. Food was look warm and on a giant ceramic spoon looking thing so cooled quickly. If it had been on a skillet like it was ADVERTISED, it would have been HOT.

Coffee is 5 out of 10. Slightly burned finish. Ordered classic american breakfast of sorts – two eggs, 3 pieces bacon, cubed potatoes, substitute small fruit for toast. $ 7.99 Eggs rate 6 of 10. Slight butter taste in a good way. The Egg & I branded tabasco like sauce I added is a nice. The cuts of fruit are questionable. The pineapple looked dicey(unintended pun) and tasted a little like it should have been thrown out. One out of 9 grapes was busted and rotting. Cantaloupe piece has green on it and also a very dark, over-ripe spot. Must be too much trouble to trim them correctly or cull them. 3 strips of bacon rate 5 of 10. Nice and crispy. Medium to thin. Potatoes rate 3.5 of 10. No crisp to them at all, though a few had time to very slightly brown on one side. They smell of olive oil I think. They are tasty, sort of, but among the worst I’ve had overall. Hash browns are browned, though these are listed as potatoes and not something that is browned. The difference in this place and Kerbey Lane is quality, selection, and atmosphere. That explains why this place is empty and Kerbey is always full. They all deal in eggs, fruit, bacon, potatoes, coffee, etc. Some just deal better than others…
