We get takeout from this location all the time. Fast and very tasty. I love the chicken plate with veggies and some extra meatballs on the side. Don’t miss the soup and pita bread either.

I ate here once and had the gyro plate. If you like dried, crusty lamb that tastes like dried grease then you will love this place. The vegetables were old and soggy. The grape leaves were inedible and the service ranges from god awful to horrific. Decided to give it a second chance. This time had the chicken gyro. The chicken is so hard I thought I chipped a tooth eating it. Vegetables were an American Horror Story color mixture of green and red. I am now going home to take the biggest probiotic I can find. I hope my stomach forgives me.

This sorry place always closes at least 30 minutes before the posted time. The girl with the sharpie eyebrows needs an attitude adjustment

Greek salad with crispy chicken, kalamata olives, fresh cucumber & lettuce with dressing is my favorite. You can add tomatoes if you like. Lots of other Greek specialities available, including Baklava. The North Mopac location is the one I am most familiar with — the south location is very good too.

First time eating here, great food! I wasn’t really sure what to expect because I’ve never eaten Greek before, but it was very good. The meat was a little on the greasy side, but I think that’s just the way that meat is.

Second time eating here, first salad. Seriously??? Lettuce and four olives? Really skimpy snd unfriendly — will NOT be back– this was NOT worth $ 7 by any means.

What some of the other reviews are saying is true: some of the staff can be rude and abrasive. And, sure, the place has a kind of old, dirty feel to it. But man, their gyro is one of the best in Austin and it’s super cheap too. I drive 5 miles out of my way to eat there during my lunch break and it’s always worth it.

Take-out is always quick, which is great for me! I park in front, walk in in and order a chicken plate with, I think, 3 sides. I always get the limas, and the eggplant thing at least. The plate comes with salad and pita also. It’s good, fast, and sorta friendly. I say sorta because sometimes they are just really short and no smile. I don’t care. As long as it’s clean and fresh, and fast, which it is, I’m cool. Lunch is maybe around $ 8, and it makes 2 meals.

Gyro is ok. Falafel was hard as a rock. Customer service was non-existent. Staff is not doing this place any favors.. .

I just love this place. Great food, fast and gluten free options! I also have issues with dairy and would love it if they had more gluten free and dairy free options, but they already have more options than most restaurants. Makes me want to eat there just thinking about the food!

Food is ok. I ordered the chicken plate. It is not cheap $ 10 for the buffet quality of the food. They gave me a very small portion of meat. When I mentioned they said pretty much get lost. So I thought I would Unilocal it.

I know Tino’s isn’t the best Greek food Austin has to offer but this location is perfect for my fiancé and I to meet for lunch. It’s the halfway point for both of us. Though I might have to find a new place for a quick lunch with my boo. The tables here are dirty. I understand the staff is swamped during the lunch rush but no one can sit down if the tables aren’t cleaned. I don’t think the staff even listens to your order. They are just grabbing what they think you want. We asked for cold dolmas and the server kept going for hot. It was hard to get his attention. The food was okay. Not the best but it wasn’t the worse thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. There are better options in Austin for Greek food. There are better lunch options in the area as well.

Not a bad place for a cast, relatively healthy lunch. I did not have very high expectations when a workmate took me to Tino’s today . First impressions — the cafeteria line, frozen mixed vegetables, and cheaply decorated interior grabbed my attention… but the negative first impression gave way to the clear indicators of high food turn over and fresh food. I ordered strategically: greek salad, taboli, rice, stewed egg plant and chicken. The greek salad was simple. The dressing was nicely balanced and tasty. The taboli was surprisingly good with the correct amount of mint for my taste. The stewed egg plant was simple, not acrid or bitter tasting, nor over cooked. The chicken was very tasty — it had a very interesting lemon finish. The rice was ok, not over cooked(consider this in the context of the number of times I am served dry or over cooked rice in austin restaurants). Tino’s food would rate about 2 stars in new york or san francisco. However because of Austin’s low competitive standard, it gets curved up to 3 stars. I wish they would improve their health dept score. The last one in nov 2013 was 87 and the two before that were 78 and 75. To me there is no excuse for scoring less than 90.

So, after reading so many reviews about the terrible service I braced myself. However, the service was very friendly. I had a chicken gyro, tabouli, tzatsiki… Overall both the gyro and the tabouli had way, way too much mint. It was okay, but not great. I probably wouldn’t come here again. Greek food can be so tasty when done well, and this place just didn’t wow me, and for $ 9 for a Gyro and a small tabouli, I’d rather go somewhere like OPA!

I wanted to try Greek food and came here since this was close to where I live. I took the Chicken Wrap. The chicken was decent but the bread was not as good as other places. The seasonings were also not as flavorful as other joints I’ve been to in Texas and other states. I feel that for $ 6.5, the portions could have been a bit more. My friends told me that the falafel is decent, so should try that next time, if I decide to come back.

Eh. $ 6ish for a gyro? At that point, I’d be thinking to myself it better be dang good. My face dropped a bit also when I saw my completed gyro, not nearly as large as other places I’ve been to(Longhorn Poboys and Arpeggio when they were around), but this is the next greek fix I wanted to try. The meat is well seasoned and not overcooked or oversalted. The bread wasn’t that soft, the vegetables looked a little wilted and overripe. Taziki could have used more flavor. But the thing bugging me the most was how much i paid and how little food i got, though I hear for $ 10 you can get the plates which do give a lot of food. But to me, greek food has always been about the cheap filling gyro. I got neither and left a bit sad.

When other reviewers mention the lack of friendly service, I saw what they meant. The gentlemen behind the counter was very gruff and reluctant to explain what some dishes were. The two girls behind the counter were friendly enough, but I didn’t enjoy them chattering and watching me my entire meal(I was the only one in the restaurant). Can someone say awwwwkward? The décor makes me a little sad because it looks someone tried to give an honest effort, but just gave up halfway through. The floors are dingy and the booths are not rooted to the floor so often they are tiled and crooked away from the walls. Tables were left unbussed with trash and old food even though I was the only one there – they were still there when I left. To their credit, the food was DELICIOUS. Really! It was their one saving grace. Hot, flavorful, and fresh. I’ve been to Greece before and have had the pelasure of eating authentic Greek cuisine – this was not it, but it was very, very close! Overall, I think this place would rock if they cleaned up their storefront and their act.

Yikes to the Unilocalers that don’t like the place. The Gyro’s and lunch specials are awesome and the food is pretty good too. There are some days where a sandwich is enough to stave off my hunger but there are other days where the lunch special and variety just pulls me in. It definitely deserves more than 2 stars even if the service is hit or miss. We we judge everything by service over the quality of food most places wouldn’t make it. I mean really… it isn’t a 4 – 5 star elite eatery with a hostess and sommelier handy. You walk in, order, move through the line, pay, get your drink, sit and eat. BTW the place is always packed and parking can be trying so that leaves me to believe they aren’t that bad.

For a quick lunch this is passable. The food is just OK, and the prices are decent for the amount of food you get. There are better greek places in Austin, but this one is convenient to work so I’ll probably be back.
