This is the best location in my opinion. The outdoor seating is nice and they don’t skimp on the fillings. It’s also fun to watch grackles fight over tortilla chips for sport.

Pretty I was recommended taco deli and decided to do a taco tour and actually really liked Torchy’s. What I liked about it was that there was a huge selection, a secret menu, and just all around fun tacos. The names were great too. I had the Baka shrimp and fiancé had the mad cow but with chicken. They were both delish!

Three words: fried avocado tacos. I got one of those and something with salmon, them had to order a second fried avocado taco. So good, well worth the trek in the rain.

OMG! This is fricken good stuff! I got the beef fajitas and the washingtonian. EXCELLENTCHOICE! I highly recommend getting them. For dessert we got the peanut butter brownie… so good! The server was super nice and helped us along with our selections. Another added bonus! The only reason I didn’t give the place 5 stars was because there were an unusually large amount of flies inside. I think they were flies, but they smaller. Maybe they were gnats? In either case it was kind of gross. We decided to eat out on the patio and that seemed to have solved the problem. And the food and service was so good that after I while the gnats were forgotten.

This was my first true Austin love. I get the Democrat with a side of chipotle–(heaven). The staff is awesome & the service is always on point. I bring all my out of town friends here first. I’ve never been disappointed. Yes, sometimes there’s a wait but it’s totally worth it. If you haven’t tried Torchy’s yet– GO now!

Dear Torchy’s, I love you. Thank you for fulfilling my taco needs. Just not any ordinary taco, but my desire to devour tacos with a twist. Thank you for the many options even though at times I hate having to choose because I want to try them all. The green chile carnitas is pretty much perfection and my go-to whenever I get the pleasure of visiting Austin(which means a visit to Torchy’s of course). The crossroads with brisket wasn’t as great in comparison, but it was still pretty great. My friends swear by the brushfire, which I will have to try next time. This location in particular was solid — I liked the grunge feel of it and the outdoor seating. Although parking could be a bit rough! Sincerely, A sad, reminiscent Virginian who doesn’t live near any Torchy’s Tacos

Some friends and I visited Torchy’s on a recent trip to Austin. To start, the staff was very friendly and fun. I love engaging with a staff that has fun on the job. My friend got the guacamole to share. It was good, had a little spice, but it wasn’t overwhelming. There were too few chips for the amount of guac, though, but not the worst problem to have. I had the Democrat and the Mr. Pink. The Democrat was delicious, definitely my favorite. The shredded beef was filled with flavor and perfectly moist. It is served with tomatillo salsa, which I used sparingly because the flavor of the beef was already so tasty. Very well balanced taco. Mr. Pink was good as well, but the tuna was a little dry, and I almost felt like it contained too much meat. I still enjoyed it, and the sauce on it was very good, along with the slaw. I have just had better ahi tuna tacos. The sauce was star of the Mr. Pink taco Outdoor seating is nice — they even had heat lamps, as it was in the upper 50s/low 60s. Wait in line was short and food was brought out promptly. Overall very good experience! I would love to go back and try more.

They should be remaining their four-stars. For a Austin(or Texan) based chain. They are definitely worth the stop when you pass one by. It’s more a thing you need to do when in Austin. Torchy’s has this grungy look when you enter and it will definitely be the favorite place of a lot of biker clubs. The menu is extensive but luckily there’s a line most of the time so you can take your time to choose what combination of food you want in your take. Most of the taco’s have clever names. Because I didn’t had breakfast yet, I went for the Roscoe, which was the special, and the democrat, no affiliation. The Roscoe was a amazing, except for the taco shells, they should leave them off next time around. The friend chicken is perfectly light and the egg perfectly cooked. The Democrat has barbacoa and queso in there. Killer combo but yet again, I wasn’t a big fan of the(corn) taco shells. For this location, when you are by yourself, you better watch out for the birds. DON’T LEAVEYOURFOODONTHETABLE, the birds will steal it.

Be still my breakfast taco loving heart. Ok we all know torchy’s is great. I don’t get how they’re the only people frying slices of avocado. How is that not a thing everywhere? I honestly wish the tacos were a little smaller/cheaper so I could get three and have more variety. Anyways, Torchy’s, please come to California. We’ll love you there.

Man the matador brisket taco on the secret menu is off the hook. So good and spicy. The cheese dip is really good to. Small place but cozy. Only bad thing is parking. Backing out there driveway is very hard on this busy street so please take caution. Very worth the trip there.

Definitely coe here. Get the queso with nachos to share and I personally loved the pulled pork taco. Everything was just so damn delicious and generous in portions. I’d eat this all day — every day. I also wanted to add that people were super nice and helpful during our time there. Great outdoor space and I can’t emphasize how helpful everyone was with suggesting the right taco.

YUM. This place is the jam. I had migas for breakfast… and queso because how can you not? And they were delicious. The ingredients are fresh, the sauces are fun and let you mix it up. The tacos are big enough that you really don’t need more than one(particularly if you’re getting queso, too…). The diablo sauce is great and spicy. Great vegetarian options. Fountain soda for those of you who are interested. We sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air. I come here every time I’m in Austin and I really do enjoy everything I get. Torchys! I wish you’d expand to the east coast! :)

Get the queso. Period. It now baffles me why everyone everywhere doesn’t drown a scoop of guac in there and top off with hot sauce and fresh cilantro! If I had super metabolism I think I’d come here and drink one everyday! Tacos were pretty good too. Fun names and loaded with toppings! Lots of very unconventional and creative options. Friendly service too. Wasn’t blown away by the tacos though… favorite was the lamb special. But definitely great spot for casual meal with friends. Just don’t forget to get the queso!

The tacos here are delicious! For a party of two, we ordered the chips and queso, a fried avocado taco, and the dirty sanchez. The queso is to die for. The tacos are a bit pricey at $ 4 a taco, but they are larger than your average cheap west coast taco. The food was solid. It’s my favorite taco place I’ve tried in Austin. I will definitely be back if I’m in this city!

Wow — I love me some Torchy’s Tacos! I had the Monk Special and the Ranch Hand — both amazing! Aaron was awesome with my vegan mom; helping her create an excellent breakfast taco she loved. If I only lived in Austin, this would be my go-to breakfast spot.

Torchy’s is the bomb diggity. If you love tacos or queso, this is the place for you! Definitely love and a must to bring friends and family here when they are visiting. Torchy’s has become a staple in Austin. They have come a long way since their original taco truck. Having their brick and mortar makes it that much easier and comfortable to come and eat too. I think Torchy’s has realized that even this brick and mortar is too small for them. Can’t wait for the one on Congress to open. Looks like it’s going to be huge in comparison to this one on 1st street. Not to mention it is a great location(and closer in proximity to where I live)! Staff is also cool, calm, and collected even when lines are out the door. They make every accommodation to your order no matter how busy they are. They even got our order wrong this time by giving us a chicken fajita taco instead of the beef fajita taco. Small mistake but they gave us my beef fajita taco for free! My fav taco is the Beef Fajita, can never go wrong with that. LOVE the queso and street corn too, definitely a must try if you haven’t already.

Hands down the BEST breakfast taco of my life! Got the chorizo breakfast taco and chips and queso. Cheap but delicious, has a ton of flavor and there is a lot of variety. Would love to have the option to get their salsa and sauces shipped to me. Weird though… all the queso in Texas seems to taste like broccoli cheddar soup… not necessarily a bad thing!

Apparently this is the only location that doesn’t sell booze!!! But they are BYOB& have a liquor store next door. Problem solved. A Texan stomach staple. Trailer Park, extra trashy. The Democrat with Queso(aka the Cheesy Democrat) A creative mix of taco delights that will be sure to give a Californian palate a hot sauce run for its money. I also had a chorizo n egg breakfast burrito. Bop.
