You must stop here if you are walking around downtown Austin. They have all sorts of music– themed merchandise and musician memorabilia. I honestly walked in this store and wanted just about everything. That being said, the prices are very high. I searched for one of the items I saw in there online and found it for $ 30 cheaper. But this is a good place to pick up a nice souvenir. And even if you don’t make a purchase… it’s a lot of fun to see all the unique items. «Music is life». Have fun!

Strangely enough, I didn’t come across too many music stores in Austin. Maybe I just wasn’t looking in the right places. Anywho, Wild About Music is both a souvenir store as well as a music shop. Instruments are in the back, but their selection of guitars is pretty tame. Basically just beginner brands like Luna, or cheaper brands like Dean(that’s not to say Dean instruments aren’t good, I love my banjo from them). I guess I expected a better guitar selection. Their music memorabilia is cool though. Get a Johnny Cash onesie for your kid. Or a songbook for your friend. Or an Elvis shot glass for dad…

I’m not a musician nor claim to be. I was just a girl in the area, bookmarking and checking out Unilocal checkin offers. As I was walking down Sixth Street, after walking from the Capitol, I recognized this place as one of the ones that I had bookmarked. They had all kinds of musical themed souvenirs. I went with a tiny pink guitar that is now hanging from my memory board in my office. It doesn’t say ATX, but I like that it’s simple without that statement. My biggest and only quarrel… do you remember that the checkin offer that I mentioned? It was a free souvenir guitar pick. Well, they were out of them. grrrr. No rain check, sorry about that, nothing. He just took my money for my tiny pink guitar and sent me about my merry way.

Very cool store. I loved all the different kinds of guitars and ukuleles and all of the guitar ornaments and souvenirs. I purchased a few items from here and got my free guitar pick for checking in with Unilocal as well :) If you took a tour with AO tours you get a 10% discount so don’t forget to show them your pink luggage tag so you can get a discount.

It is stores like Wild About Music that make me want to become a musician. They have a large selection of stuff, and this place just screams«Austin, Texas» to me. Looking for a free souvenir? If you check-in on Unilocal, you get a free guitar pick. I highly recommend checking-in.

The down-to-earth staff could not be nicer, Great place for a gift if you’re trying to entice her. Musicians would find this place to be kinda neat, And conveniently located right on Sixth Street. I checked in and got a free souvenir guitar pick. Oh yeah, bay-bay! Good way to start my experience. Checked out some of the guitars which had very unique designs. There were lots of music-related gifts and clothing. The prices were high, but that is to be expected in a touristy area such as this. Didn’t find anything worth buying this time around. Everyone on the staff that I talked to was cool. Average music gift shop.

Really cool store. I went for the first time a little over a year ago, and, man, has it improved even more. They have a little bit of everything. It’s truly a very unique music store. However, I find most of their products to be ridiculously overpriced. I’m someone who likes to spend money. And I will drop a good amount of money on something I see fit. That being said, I don’t feel like a lot of stuff in this store are worth the price on the tag. I feel like I’m probably paying more for their rent than their products.

Fun to check out their things if you’re downtown. Staff leaves something to be desired. Last time we were in my daughter was told not to touch a guitar in the window. OK, I get that although you may want to rethink the way you say things — kids(and their parents) are potential customers too. So we waited for her dad to come in. He started to show her the guitar only to have the saleswoman huff«Like father like daughter, I guess». SO rude. Could not wait to leave.

Stopped by after taking the duck tour with a friend, and we couldn’t believe the variety of stuff here! Instruments, music(of course!), art, and just all-around cool randomness! My car radio was busted at the time, and the sales clerk helped me find some portable speakers to plug my iPod into as a temporary fix for the road trip back. Everyone was super friendly, including Quincy(the HUGE store cat/mascot)! And I’m not even a cat person! Quincy’s cool in my book, though. I really dig this store, and I highly recommend. :)

Very cool store. As many of the other reviews mentioned this is the place to get your music based souvenirs. The staff was very helpful but did not smother us. We really enjoyed looking at the Music /Art, T-shirts and guitars.

I LOVE this store! But what else would I expect when the first thing I see upon entering was the shop cat Quincy who was quietly nestled on top of the guitar pick jewelry display cases?!! The souvenirs are as unique and fun as the city of Austin itself. I bought all my t-shirts for the fam and myself here. I also almost convinced myself to buy one of their gorgeous custom guitars even though I haven’t played in years. The rock memorabilia is a step above all the other head shops that litter the strip of 6th Street. The tees are authentic and unique and the bags and books are equally as interesting. I couldn’t stop marveling at the guitar display. They’re all custom acoustic guitars in various colors and designs. It’s a wonderful site! Like a musical rainbow. They are also priced fairly for the customization involved. There’s also fun items like picture frames hailing music and guitar pick earrings and necklaces as well as guitar purses, etc. The staff is very laid back and friendly. I especially enjoy Quincy, the shop cat. :) This is the best gift shop if you want to capture the essence of Austin and bring it home to your loved ones. I wish I could post some of the pictures I took because they would help to further illustrate this review. Oh well, you’ll just have to check it out for yourself. Enjoy!

This is THE place to go for Austin souvenirs. Music memorabilia of all kinds. The other souvenir shops along 6th street were kind of tacky, but this one was in a class by itself. I bought a couple of stunning Christmas ornaments here. They are a miniature saxophone and a miniature flute, for my kids who play those instruments(well, they play real instruments, not the ornaments!). The ornaments are made of real metal, wonderfully detailed, simply stunning, only $ 10 each. The perfect souvenirs of Austin. The staff was helpful and friendly(well, it seems everybody in Austin is helpful and friendly).

Great store! I love finding new places in Austin, this one has so many interesting things. I took my family there today and we all went nuts. Staff needs to be a little nicer, that’s the reason why I didn’t give them 5 stars(the spending more than $ 200.) hello??? But I will go back, it’s a great tourist stop !!!

This store ROCKS! Rock music playing over the speakers –check! A few electric and acoustic guitars to rock out on, nicely set up in an area to jam –check! Rock art, apparel, accessories, and collectibles –check! Staff rocks –check! F.U.N. –check! I picked myself up some«Nightmare before Christmas» hologram pics… they rock! Prices are fair for some and over for others, but it’s still worth checking out!

Wild About Music is across the street from the Driskell Hotel. I stopped in while buying holiday gifts. Thought I might buy a few items for others and ended up buying a ton of art for my own home and patio. TONS of cool music & austin art. And the pricing is really nice(by art standards). If you get excite about SRV art — this is your spot. Staff is helpful. Trying to find parking on 6th is the only downside.
