I first found Morgans Bay when I was waitressing years ago at Babylon Fish and Clam, and I have been hooked since! The truffles are to die for, and the stuffed chocolate covered strawberry’s are A-mazing! My favorite treat though(Which is a complete must-try, if you ask me), is the Almond Butter-Crunch! I crave it constantly and was delighted to find it in my Valentine Sampler my husband gifted me this year. You also must try the Bay Caramels! Everything is priced fantastically and The Owner and Chocolatier is meticulous in fulfilling every order to your liking, and then some! A must try and the perfect place for gifts, favors, and dessert in general!

When you walk in you are greeted by the owner, Nina Roy. She tells you of the history about Morgan Bays and serves samples, as in full samples not mini costco samples but the actual product in small quantitys. Enjoy the delightful, and refreshing candied orange peel. The truffles are wonderful with delicious feelings. And the caramel is nice and soft with a nice touch of sea salt. My most favourite thing here is the almond butter crunch, a simple, yet tantalizing candy. The almonds are noticable in flavor, and the butteriness is not over powering but perfect. The crunch is big and you’ll truly enjoy it. The water front is beautiful. Enjoy it and you know you will want to buy everything.

One of the most wonderful things about living in a non-industrialized, less suburban area is discoveries like Chocolate by Morgan’s Bay. Down meandering roads of elegant New England-style homes and built-up Cape Cods in the village of Babylon is a blue waterfront house that serves as a chocolatier’s studio. Right on top of the docks is Nina’s passion project, a chocolate shop unlike any other. There are no artful displays of mass-produced truffles and treats. Rather, Victorian dessert plates grace a table up front with packaging displays, with one lone refrigerator gracing the waiting area by the register. The buying experience is also different from any other. The owner, Nina, believes that it’s hard to convey a taste or sensation with words. So she describes her treats by offering sample tasting plates — for free! Be prepared to buy after you try, though. She has no set flavor list, preferring to make custom orders or go where imagination takes her. The rich Belgian chocolate truffles are hearty and full-flavored, whether the centers are liqueur-spiked ganache or Oreo cookies in the consistency of a dense chocolate cake. Also part of the sampler platter are candied orange peels – fragrant, sweet, and addicting. However, the showstopper for me was her most easily made confection — the almond butter brittle. Buttery and rich without being overly sweet, this is a praline-style treat that delivers satisfaction without the toothache. Also offered are chocolate-covered strawberries, peanut butter patties covered in chocolate, and hand-dipped chocolate-covered cherries. The prices are reasonable, and actually less expensive than many other chocolatiers, since Nina seems to weigh lightly. Generally, $ 2 a piece is the norm, but here, $ 2 will buy you roughly two and a half pieces, creating a packed half pound for $ 12.50. The only shortcoming would be that the white chocolate selection is nearly nonexistent and that the bon-bons aren’t of perfect uniformity. But that’s if you’re being really picky(which I sometimes am, since I was spoiled in New Orleans by Sucré). But in conclusion, wrapped up in a festive red bow, Chocolates by Morgan’s Bay is a great gift idea or special treat. Truly a hidden gem in a waterfront community.

This is the kind of business that makes you really appreciative of Babylon in general. Let me start by saying I work for a high-end chocolate company and really appreciate the good stuff. This particular company, located in a stunning location in a house by the docks, manages to combine high-end and accessible chocolate into a delicious, well-presented and affordable product. I first tried Morgan’s Bay truffles when my cousin brought some to Christmas the year before last. They were perfect– every one is equally delicious, individually wrapped and packed in reasonably priced sizes. When you go into the shop, Nyna is so friendly and informative, and you can’t help but feel welcome and excited to buy things. No hard-sell here– I was shopping for V-Day chocolates for my kids and she recommended I start with a smaller box rather than the large one. While I waited, she gave me samples to try of something chocolate(I can’t recall what right now) as well as what was unequivocally the best caramel I’ve ever tasted, soft and not over sweet, with just enough sea salt to bring out the caramel flavor. It was really unbelievable. I worry enough people might not realize what an amazing chocolate and homemade candy resource exists right in the village, due to the lack of foot traffic on Post Place. If you need a thoughtful gift or just want some really good chocolate for yourself, you should definitely check out Morgan’s Bay. I’m really excited to see their new website when it comes up, and I am definitely going back for chocolates the next time I need to get a present for someone. I really can’t underscore what an overall excellent customer experience Morgan’s Bay provides. Really top notch!

I don’t have a sweet tooth.* I am, in fact, a savor-tooth tiger.* ** At Morgan’s Bay, I was basically delightfully interviewed overlooking the water, concurrently being fed bowls of sweets and packages filled with delicious sugary goodness. The folk(s) here bang out superb hand– and custom-made desserts right on the water(closer than the nearby mediocre restaurants that claim to offer waterside dining). Everything I sampled was top-notch, and the marketing couldn’t have been improved – effective but not intrusive, albeit a bit awkward to say the least. The lovely woman discussed everything from her husband having some adjacent marina stakes and the charities with which they’ve worked. I embarked on an indulgent tour de force through her impressive sugary smörgåsbord, samples galore, just me and her(or She & Him if you’re a fan). Items aren’t displayed, per se, at least not in the conventional sense, but the unorthodoxed method is a curiously refreshing approach They seem to be struggling, but she was eternally optimistic and genuinely accommodating. Stop in, even if not to buy something, just to interact with a genuinely nice woman serving up tasty & honest artisanal truffles(their self-professed specialty), fudge, PB patties, and butter crunch in copious sample form. I’ll be back fo’ sho’. She take my money… when I’m in need Yeah, she’s a triufflin’.friend indeed *This is so far from The Truth it can’t even see The Truth with a telescope. **I stole this, without shame. – They ship Priority and hand deliver locally.
