The Unlikely Spaniard LLC

We were so fortunate to find the Unlikely Spaniard! We asked about having a small party catered, and were able to arrange for a drop off, which included set up of a lovely meal, including a wonderful array of cheeses, salami and other cured meats, and delicious bruschetta to start, a nice salad and the highlight-​a spectacular paella. A truly memorable meal to celebrate a special birthday, in a special place. And very easy to arrange! The whole evening was perfect!

We really wanted something different for our reception. We love to entertain and when we do it is usually something unexpected for our guests. We really felt like we clicked with Preston and his lovely family when we visited them for a tasting. For our reception we chose the Paella Valencia, Paella ala Arlene (as they called it as my wife cannot eat seafood) and a vegetarian selection. The appetizers had a beautiful presentation, and everyone was taken by the process of cooking the paella. When it was finished, it was pure magic! It took our event to the next level with regard to memorable times. Now 6 months later when I see friends who attended I ask about the food and which paella they had, most respond ALL three! We couldn’t have asked for better people to work with and will definitely recommend them. I just wish they had a brick and mortar building! Thank you Preston and staff for helping to make such a memorable day for us and our guest.

It was a great experience! We had a dinner party for 25 people, several who were from another country visiting Seattle for the first time. We contracted for appetizers, salad, bread, and paella. The appetizers were ample and delicious and served in the house.
Preston was in the backyard cooking the paella. He was very engaging to our guests. He spoke to them about the food while he was cooking, and then he spoke to the entire group before it was served. Everyone felt like a special meal was on its way. And it was! The paella was very delicious and everyone loved it. Preston’s daughter was with him and she was a terrific assistant and very nice to our guests.
Having the paella cooked in the backyard made it a very memorable evening.

Three cheers for the three styles of paella served at our daughter’s wedding reception on Saturday. Our guests are still *raving* about the amazing meal! They may have noticed the wonderful teamwork of Preston’s catering crew that served our large party (~175), but a lot of credit goes to his calm and confident communication from first contact through completion. Everything was as we expected or better. It was a true joy to work with Preston and even the leftovers were fantastic!

After spending time in Spain myself, my now husband and I decided to have The Unlikely Spaniard cater our rehearsal dinner for 70+ people this past summer and, let me tell you, they did not disappoint.
Preston is everything you could ask for in a caterer: flexible, reliable, charming, and a master at what he does. Despite the fact that our guest list kept growing the days leading up to the event, Preston assured us it was not a problem and that everything would work out brilliantly. We also alerted him about some vegetarians last minute and he threw in an equally delicious vegetarian paella with no hassle. His family/​team is full of people that are just as knowledgeable and passionate about paella-​making as he is; even his 12 year old daughter was cooking! Preston and his family were a pleasure to work with and I just hope my husband and I are able to work with him again soon.
In the end, what our friends and family were able to enjoy was not just a plate of delicious paella, but an experience. The Unlikely Spaniard truly brings Spain to Western Washington, and I’m so thankful that they made our rehearsal dinner a night to remember!
Also: The Unlikely Spaniard also made heart-​shaped alfajores for dessert, which were a big hit!
