The MAC Cosmetics Store is not the only store in Valley Plaza Mall that sells MAC makeup, but it certainly has the most extensive selection of any of them, so if you use a product or wear a color that is less commonly used you may just want to try here first! My mom wears very little makeup, but she has a particular shade of MAC lipstick, A35 Frost, almost a nude shade, that she loves. She doesn’t have to replace it very often, but when she does, she usually goes to Macy’s. Well, on our last trip to Macy’s they were out of her shade and the lady at the MAC Cosmetic counter there offered to call this MAC store in the same shopping center to see if they carried it. After making the call, she told my mom that not only did they have it, but that they were holding two tubes of it at the register for her and that all we had to do was ask for Missy. After a short walk through the mall, we arrived at the MAC store and headed to the back where the register is located. We passed a number of very trendily dressed salespeople all wearing quite a bit of makeup helping customers. Now, I’m not necessarily making a negative judgement about the amount of makeup they are wearing as it all seemed to be applied very well, I’m just saying they wouldn’t look totally out of place shopping at Hot Topic, just on the classy end of that spectrum. I definitely got the impression that if I asked about any of their products that these girls had plenty of personal experience with them and would know the answers to all of my naïve questions. They had mom’s lipstick at the register and she paid for it and we got on our way quickly. Notice I don’t include the part of my story where my mom checks the lipstick to be sure it is the correct color. That’s because no such thing occurred. The label on my mom’s well used tube had most of the writing rubbed off and all she could easily read was the word ‘gel’. The girl manning the register happened to mention that she loves this color of lipstick and recommends this shade to customers often. That should have been a big tip off that this was not her shade. I won’t say how old my mom is, but I’m 50 so you do the math. On our return visit to the store several days later to exchange this bright pink lipstick for her own more neutral shade, the girl that helped us was quite friendly and made the exchange quickly with no hassle. I can’t take stars away for them giving us the wrong shade of lipstick as it was our fault for not checking before we left. Definitely a positive customer service experience both times and of course MAC cosmetics are super high quality with many fabulous shades available. If I don’t get serious about sticking to my Weight Watchers program soon, I’ll probably be going back to have one of these girls teach me how to contour my cheeks. They can’t sell me a skinny body, but they can sell me the tools to make my face look skinnier. You’ve got to start somewhere.(stay tuned for reviews of gym memberships, LOL)

My experience was okay. My makeup artist was amazing I have no complaints about her! She did a great job! Her name was Sarah ask for Sarah! But I was upset because I had made an appointment for 11 and I had some where to be at 1:30. I was so sure I’d be done way before that. But to my surprise I didn’t get done till a little after 1:30! And it wasn’t my makeup artist fault. She’s was just doing her job and following the rules. One of MAC’s rule is to help other customers if they need the help. Which means if you’re doing another clients makeup you have to drop them to help this walk in customer. I get it! But when I made an appointment and I have somewhere to be I expect to be done by a certain time! Not be left half way to ring another costumer up! MAC needs to have some people doing the makeup and others helping walk in customers! Because that wasn’t okay.

My experience at this Mac location was awesome… Aside from the fact my blush was not in the bag when I got home… Also not on my receipt, so no harm done… Just means another trip… Good for them… Nine times out of ten, I’ll get more then my blush…

This review is for the MAC location that is separate from Macy’s but run by Macy’s. This is probably the worst MAC location I’ve ever been to. It is always understaffed. I’ve never seen more than two people working and if one employee starts doing someone’s makeup that leaves one employee to help every customer and run the register. Because it is just an extension of the counter at Macy’s and not a stand alone store they don’t get all of the product a full MAC store would have even though they have a large space. The staff only seems some what knowledgable and sometimes you wonder who’s helping who here when you see the employees’ makeup. Get more staff, and better training on customer service AND makeup.

I walked out with blue eyeshadow and I liked it. Enough said. They can sell a blind man lipstick and make him like it! Great selection, better then the one inside Macy’s.

Went to this MAC yesterday. They had a great selection and the staff were pretty nice and helpful. I will probably continue to visit the counter at Macy’s just to avoid the drama of the mall but if they don’t have what I need I will def visit this store :-).
