This is a good stop between central and Southern California. Get out of the car, stretch your legs, visit the petting zoo, and perhaps have a sweet treat. There are different types of fruit depending on the season. Everything we have tried has been good. Of course their are other whimsical things to buy, jams and jellies, beef jerky, candies, nuts, and country style décor for the home. The bathrooms are clean, the staff is friendly and the location is an easy off and on to the highway.

What a wonderful wonderful pit stop on our way home. You can sample the available fruits and they have a great citrus selection. The kumquats and mandarins were our favorites! We couldn’t pass up the Murray Farms churro nuggets which were very yummy! They tasted just like a churro but with crunchy goodness all around. We also tried the blackberry fried pie which was my first fried pie! I’m a fan but I think my arteries are hating me.

$ 8.99 per head to walk through the ‘farm’ area. Not a petting zoo either. «The animals, goats are fenced but will come up to you». Is what we were told. But with a family of 5 the cost is prohibitive and the price vs value seems off.

This review is just for the farm store. This place is very expensive. Produce shouldn’t cost what they are charging. This is a tourist trap feeding on tired and bored travellers. I noticed they had a pumpkin patch and some animals and they charge an entrance fee!

I really enjoyed this place. It was our first time and I was very impressed with all the activities that were included in the price of admission. We stayed for hours and still didnt do it all. WEWILLDIFFENTALLYGOBACKANDRECOMMENDTOALLOURFAMILYANDFRIENDS!

Murray Family Farms is more beautiful than ever! I love what they have done with the place! They are currently decorated for fall/Halloween and it looks awesome. There are flowers, pumpkins, and painted murals everywhere. They have recently opened their newest attraction, an AstroTurf sliding hill, which was the new star of the show. The Fried Pies are great!

So we’re in the middle of nowhere and have to stop because the baby is screaming at the top of his lungs. Ugh. It’s hot and dusty… This place has gas and a little store so we pull over. There are no bottles of water, so we have to pay as much for water as soda(but ok, in all fairness we’re in a massive drought and they hardly have enough to water their crops… I’ll pay the premium for their tap water knowing how much it’s costing them right now). We grab a few fry pies, cookies and fudge and take off. Oh my gosh! Amazing enough I’ve got to hop on Unilocal and let everyone know. Fresh blueberries and apricots and nice crispy crusts on the pies(not commercial nastiness, but homemade deliciousness). The cookies are spot on and the fudge is perfection. If nothing else, I’ve got to review this place so I can find it next time we’re racing thru the dessert to get to the other side.

Convenient«rest/pee» stop east of Bakersfield just off the 58. Chevron gas, bathrooms, fresh fruit & snack items, overpriced, dried-out deli sandwiches, *terrible grate your nerves* music(?)!

This review is only for their blueberry«pure» fruit smoothie that I received 50% off on for checking in, which was pretty awesome. I’m not sure what they meant by «pure,» but it’s a self serve slushy(comparable to 7⁄11) and it’s made from concentrate. It was sweet, but definitely didn’t taste like blueberries. It’s still a nice drink to have on a hot day, especially if you’re driving through Bakersfield, but only if your using the 50% discount. It’s not worth the whole $ 3.49 value that they would charge you if you didn’t have the discount.

We came here this past weekend to explore the local Murray Family Farms. It was our first time checking out this farm and petting zoo. To our surprise, it’s relatively big and had some fun activities in store. We came on a Sunday around 11 am, and there was plenty of parking available. It sounds like it can get very busy, but fortunately for us – there was a lot of free space to roam. We paid $ 7.99 per adult, for admission. This is the weekend price. $ 5.99 on weekdays. Once you’ve paid admission, you can go inside the farm and do any of the following activities: (1) Visit the Butterfly house (2) Jump on the Bouncy pillow — this was the funnest part of the farm visit (3) Play in the playground (4) Pet animals, such as goats and sheep (5) Watch various birds, peacocks, turkeys in the aviary (6) Ride on the hay ride truck, 15 minutes long and takes you around the entire public farm, with tour guide narrating and asking pop quiz questions, haha (7) Pick fruits(we didn’t do this, since it was over 100+ degrees outside!), hay ride truck will stop on request for you to pick fruit. (8) Play basketball /football games, similar to those you find at the local fair The farm also has a storefront that is open to the public and doesnt require admission fee. We bought some cherriums here and ate them at home :) Pretty delicious! It was a fun experience, and perhaps we’ll be back again to check out their pumpkin patch and corn maze in October!

The selection of fruit is always large and seasonal with samples for you to try. During the week it isn’t as crowded as it is on the weekends. We unfortunately came by when there were two tour buses parked out front so we just turned around and kept going. Our good luck our daughter lives in Hart Flat so it is between our house and hers so it’s always in our path of travel. But made it back during a weekday and moseyed around. Not only do they offer seasonal fruit during the peak times but they capitalize on the fact it is a big red barn roadside tourist attraction and totally jack up their prices for mediocre fruit. To my surprise they have a petting zoo that they charge for the children to go into also, really at the price you charge for your fruit you would think that this would be a bonus. The other items were also over priced pastries, jams and snacks. I will keep driving to the local farmers markets in town that are priced right.

The treats look great just a bit pricey. But. I purchased some peach cobbler for $ 3.99 and decided to eat it on the go. Took a bite and swallowed and then found a bunch of mold. damn it. 4 bucks down the drain :\ also the customer service was kind of whack not going to be stopping again :(

Murray family farms seems out of the way but it’s worth every minute of the drive. With u-pick(pick your own fruit), hayrides, the critter train and auntie Annabelle’s animal garden the possibilities are endless for the entire family to enjoy. On weekends, it’s only $ 7.99 for ages 4 and up and any little ones 3 and under are free. They have some of the best fruit around and have some incredible methods of handling the drought. If you want an affordable and fun day for the family or even a date head on over and they will take care of you. Nice caring staff that really know their stuff. I’m definitely going back for more.

I took my family recently to go pick fruit and enjoy the petting zoo. We also got to enjoy the pulled pork with Cherry sauce which was very good. The fruit off the vine was extremely tasty, and you can eat as much as you want. My son had a great time running around eating fruit, jumping on the giant air pillow, and checking out the animals at the petting zoo. Only downfall, on a hot day not air conditioned inside building and bathrooms dirty and pretty much a sauna… We will go again soon, probably on a cooler day

I have traveled past here many times and finally got the chance on Easter. Earlier in the day they hosted a fabulous egg hunt for kids, had some crafts and Easter baskets. Checked in via Unilocal and was gifted a 50% off fruit smoothie. It was amazingly yummy. Was sort of like a slushie from their machine, target than a fresh made to order. Cute gifts, shaded areas for picnics, jams, nuts and lots of fresh fruit. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner, though.

Although it’s quite the drive for my family, Murray Farms is a great outlet for both kids and adults. It can get kind of expensive, but there is lots to do! They have a ball pit, lots of animals(which sometimes the workers will let you pet!), a maze, football/basketball toss, jumping pillow, hayrides, and lots more. Inside the store, they have lots of sweets and fried goodies, as well as pre-picked fruit. You can even sample them! Definitely worth it every so often… if you have kids! Just expect it to be more expensive than normal.

LOVEDTHISPLACE. The two college guys behind the counter had jokes for days. Pit stop coming back up from SoCal. The family needed a long pit stop and bathroom break. This place was blaring from the side of the road and we took the exit. it was a great choice. Mini pies, milkshakes, chocolate, snacks and POPCORN. Pretty much anything you can imagine needed for snacks or for gifts. The bathrooms were clean and there were plenty of tables etc. to relax. If we had more time we would have explored. There is also a gas station nearby which is convenient.

I have driven past Murray Farms for years now, but usually in a rush to get home– so on this trip I made a point to stop. I am glad that I did. It was decorated for the fall season.(Now I will try and stop by every season to see how it changes)– I browsed the store and picked up a few snacks and items that will make good gifts. The deli smelled and looked delicious but I didn’t pick up anything there to eat. We didn’t go on the tour of the farm, but I pet some of the animals through the fence. Great place to grab a bite and stretch your legs and pick up a snack or two.
