I LOVETHISPLACE! I grew up in St. Louis along with this restaurant, then moved away and now live in Chicago. Every time I go to visit my family in St. Louis I have to eat at Lions Choice and believe it or not, I go everyday I am there! Seriously, everyday! The first time I took my husband there, he said«so it’s like Arbys»? I said no, nothing like Arbys, you’ll see. He is now as hooked on it as I am. I hate to call it fast food because that implies crap food! This is the real thing, real meat sliced paper thin and a bit on the pink side, seasoned to perfection. It is piled high on the bun then shot with steam, so the meat and the bun become one. Writing this review, my mouth is watering, wish I could get one right now! That is the only thing bad about this place is that they are only in St. Louis, we need one here in Chicago. I also wish they had Coke, not Pepsi, but I will forgive them for that! The few reviewers saying that it is expensive are crazy! It is not expensive at all, especially for the quality of food you are getting. I miss you Lions Choice!

Whoever designed this restaurant should be taken out and summarily executed! Why would anyone bother to review a fast food restaurant? The food is mediocre, the service is prompt and the store has been open for just a couple of weeks. Management fought with the city fathers for months for the right to have two drive through lanes, and finally won. The design of the store is nice open and airy… So why do they get a terrible rating? The place seats 75 or so and is really busy. Some people like to wash their hands before eating, Some clients like to use the rest room… Well get ready to hold it in, because at this location, they have one hole restrooms for women and one hole for men. I cannot believe at lunch on a Saturday, more people were in line to use the restroom than to order. Have a baby to change, and looking for a family restroom? Look somewhere else, there is not one here. The restaurant was in bad need of cleaning, but I won’t zing them too bad, it was very crowded, and each person has multiple containers for sauce, jous, etc. Many end up on the floor which looks like it has never seen a mop. So for really stupid planning and execution, I give this store a big F. Oh yes they close way too early in the evening.

I left St. Louis and lived in Alabama for 10 years before moving back. I really missed this place. Yes it is pricey for a fast food restaurant, but at this fast food restaurant the meat doesn’t get poured out of a mixer and formed into a patty or a ‘roast’. When you go inside to order you will see the roasted BEEF on the automatic slicer shaving perfectly thin slices of roasted BEEF for your sandwich. Sure, Arby’s slices their whatever it is at each store, that’s not the problem; exactly what are they slicing? The fries have the skin ON which is a huge plus in my book. If you aren’t looking for a sandwich and want something else that is hearty do try the cream of broccoli soup. Creamy and full of, shockingly, broccoli. In the winter it is what I get for my side instead of fries. The plates that they have added are very, very good, also. This is real beef. Leaner and better than a roast beef or French dip at any of the neighborhood hangouts. DON’T FORGETTHEHORSERADISHSAUCE!!!

The location is right by my house. Normally I go through the drive though but today walked in. The floors are like an ice skating ring with so much grease on them… YUK! The food was good as normal, frys were just«okay» The store in Crestwood is so much better

They make the best roast beef sandwich you’re ever gonna eat. Period. When you normally think of roast beef sandwiches at restaurants, you think of something that is ‘less than.’ Not this. You could slave away for hours making the best roast beef in your own kitchen, put it on awesome bread, and it wouldn’t even compare to this. Yea, the price is a bit high, but it’s on par with nicer fast food and yet blows all other competition out of the water. The way the meat melds with the bun is amazing. Their fries are also different than any other fast food place, and by that I mean that they’re much better. I don’t know exactly how to describe them other than this: awesome. Not only that, they are super nice. Fantastic customer service, just above and beyond.

Always good and consistent. No issues with taste of food or temperature. Employees seem well trained. It’s sort of expensive for what you get but it’s good.

I kinda love this restaurant on my first trip. We didn’t have Lion’s Choice in Wisconsin so when I moved to the St Louis area and saw there was one close to where I live, I went in for lunch. I do appreciate that there are side options besides French fries(especially for my kids) even if I went with the traditional fry order with my traditional roast beef sandwich. I will definitely consider this place again for dinner and try the dip cone next time.

I want to second what Alan J said – it’s better than that other roast beef restaurant. When you get a sandwich from Lion’s choice, you are getting REAL roast beef that is seasoned to perfection. They are a bit pricey but that’s the cost of putting quality ingredients into your tummy. I’d review ALL the Lion’s Choices if I could – they’re all delicious!

I live in Columbia so it’s a treat to go here when I’m in town. I get the large roast beef sandwich with extra seasoned salt. The drive thru is always quick but it’s expensive kinda!

When I think of roast beef, I think of all the times I felt sick after eating 4 Beef-N-Cheddar sandwiches for $ 5 at Arbys. Those darn coupons always get me! But alas! Lion’s Choice was so much different! First of all, the name just sounds majestic. I feel like the meat was delivered fresh from Simba himself. Or Nala. I hear all the females do the hunting anyway. But seriously, the meat is so tender and succulent, it makes you make that awkward moaning sound because something is so delicious. Don’t act like you don’t know! The many different sauces also make the place appealing. You know horseradish is a must. They also have different sandwiches like BBQ Pork, Beef, Hot Ham, Turkey, but you got to just stick with the King’s Beef. I don’t know how it’s different, but if it’s fit for a king, then it’s good enough for me. The only downside is that it’s not 24 hours, and the beverage selection is not great for making a delicious graveyard. But if that’s the only downside, it gets an A in my book. Well, A-.

I was impressed with food quality here. I ordered a king beef sandwich with fries and a dip cone. It’s a bit pricey for the combo(9.70) but the roast beef is slightly better than Arby’s. it’s juicier than most roast beef. I ordered the sandwich with provolone chees which made it so much better. The fries are crispy much like Burger King’s, but thinner. They go well with the sweet and smokey bbq sauce. The dip cone is amazing for just 0.31 topped with chocolate and vanilla ice cream in the center. Why not 4 stars? It’s a bit pricier for the food. The quality is decent and better than most fast food but it is still fast food. I would go for a group setting but wouldn’t be my first choice of restaurants.

Everytime my sister visits from out of town, she wants to go to Lion’s Choice. There’s something about it that we love about it… Maybe it’s the dry roast beef, their au jou sauce, or their cheap-ass ice cream cones. Or maybe it’s all of that, plus more. You just have to go there to understand…

Better than that other Roast Beef restaurant. And their fries are yummy too! They have little soft-serve cones that are just the right size for after dinner.
