My college chum and I walked in, and they were busy putting the store together. Six or eight people were stocking the jewelry into display cases. We were there because I saw an ad in the West News Magazine about a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony organized by the West County Chamber of Commerce. What I missed in the ad – was that it was at 4:30 p.m. today. We were there close to 2 p.m. They had tents out front announcing the grand opening, the door was unlocked. They weren’t really open for business. We looked at a few pieces — an amythest necklace for $ 70, some rings and bracelets. But they weren’t ready for customers. What we saw was a lot of large jewelry. Lots of bold colors. Big earrings. Long earrings. Statement-making earrings. Fashion earrings. Many absolutely stunning pieces of jewelry. The ad says this is: «A St. Louis-based, independently owned company specializing in designing and customizing jewelry made of gold, silver and authentic precious and semi-precious stones.» What we saw was a lot of jewelry in plastic bags. Does that mean it wasn’t made by them? I don’t know. When you open a store, you have to have a lot of stock. And protect it. They were incredibly gracious, happy and excited about their store. I wish them well.
