Quesadilla was excellent, Burrito was well filled and served piping hot. Quick easy and very good food

Authentic style tacos are a little different from what Taco Bell would have us believe. I still have a fondness for the spicy beef tacos I had growing up as a kid, and I have somehow managed to inherit my mothers keen ability in burning taco shells under the broiler.
Cinco de Mayo (I went to the one on Eastern Avenue next to Tortilleria Sinoloa) has authentic style tacos and tons of other menu choices. And starts everyone with some chips and this green stuff. The chips are crispy and crunchy with a nice salty fry. The green stuff — I dunno what that is — there isn’t much flavor, but a thickish consistency. I say skip it.
Now to the tacos — I found the tortillas perfectly golden, adding a nice touch. We went with three tacos: fish, barbacoa and carnitas; they were out of the lengua or we would have tried that too… The meat fillings were a little better on this side, than next door. The barbacoa was tender with a slight bbq char flavor. I liked the carnitas, the pork was also tender, but not oily. The fish was a little dry the day I was there, but overall — this is a go to place — all this food for $ 13.

Finally found a place that reminds me of the small mom and pop restaurants in Southern California or south Texas. It’s real Mexican so if your looking for Chipotle don’t come here but if you want the real deal to include a small tiendita and panaderia for some good sweet bread this is the spot. A+ for the food. The service gets a B– C+ but not bad.

Si! It’s real Mexican food, although I cannot place the region. We were the only people in there but by the time we left the (small) space had filled up. There were other gringos, like us, but also men and women who you could tell were coming here because the food tasted like «home» to them. And I really admire that about a restaurant.
They served veggies (as in veggie tacos and burritos) but you have to ask for them because they aren’t on the menu. The creamy avocado dip was really good and the chips were homemade. My wife got a huge plates of enchiladas with rojo sauce that she overall enjoyed although it looked a bit thick compared to the others she’s ordered in NM and AZ.
They served Mexican sodas and I got a grapefruit one, because, why not drink 300 calories of sugar?! I’m pretty sure they don’t sell booze here, we didn’t see it in the fridge or on the menu, although I could be wrong because we also didn’t ask for any.
Our waitress’s English was great, so don’t be afraid to try here based off lack of knowledge of espanol!

Tiny little place! We snagged the only table that was open, which was right next to a giant vat where I assume they were marinating meat… kind of unsanitary but whatever. We waited a few minutes before getting our menus. Given that neither of us speaks Spanish, we stuck to what we new. Enchilada and Burrito. The chips and green salsa (?) were tasty. Then out came my gigantic plate of enchiladas. I didn’t know where they were at first! Covered in a red sauce and cheese and lettuce, I dug under and found three enchiladas with corn tortilla which I don’t believe I’d ever had before. They were mighty tasty if a little spicy for my tastes but I expected that in a place that is clearly authentic. Brian got a massive beef burrito which I got to take half home since he had a train to catch. Score! It was my lunch the next day. Also very good even though I don’t tend to go for burritos.

OMG, happened on this little gem while visiting Fells Point and Inner Harbor. My boyfriend and I, and another couple had the best Mexican we’ve ever had! The homemade chips and dip (not exactly sure what the dip was, but divine!). The only caveat… luckily I spoke a little Spanish because the waitress spoke very little English. It was well worth having to revisit my high school/​college language class. Muy delicioso!!!

I pop in here for tacos to go regularly and they are amazing. I can get a full belly and great taste for a great price. So good!

So I ate here yesterday and it was actually really good. Yes, there’s only one server, but she is attentive and friendlier than I expected after reading the reviews.
I had the chips which came with an odd yet tasty guacamole type dip. It didn’t taste like any guac I’ve tried before. It might not have even been guacamole! If anyone wants to comment on that…
I also ordered a tamale with salsa verde, which was really good. Very moist, lots of shredded pork (?). The verde sauce was ridiculously spicy! I poured it on my tamale before trying it and had the same experience with it as I do most ridiculously spicy foods — pretending I’m on Man v Food. I loved it though.
I had ordered a burrito which is seriously the biggest burrito I’ve ever seen in my life. I ate half of a half for lunch, am stuffed, and will probably have halves of halves for the next week or so. Apart from the size, the burrito is yummy. Well seasoned rice, beans, pork, a nice salsa, crema, onion. It’s much better than a Chipotle burrito and less expensive and just enormous.
Glad I decided to go!

I’m assuming that this restaurant is associated with the Cinco De Mayo on Central and Eastern. I’ve been to that one several times and the menus look similar.
The difference is that this location doesn’t have an attached grocery store and there’s a little more seating available.
I’ve noticed that the staff here work hard and service is great. I tried to order different things than at the other location. The taco’s are cheap and good. Quesadillas are HUGE and calzone-​like. Definitely a good bang for your buck. The carne asada and fajitas are also meant to feed giants. They come with fresh tortilla, avocado, lettuce, and tomatoes. The complementary chips and guacamole are also a win. The guac itself is a little more liquidy that other places. I think it’s Cinco De Mayo’s own recipe, but it’s good nonetheless.

I think this is related to the other cinco de mayo restaurant on the count of the menu. The portion are enormous and the food is pretty good. I would recommend the sopas and tortas. I noticed on Sundays they also have a buffet.

I don’t like the extremely slow service. If you’re willing to give up EXTRA time for a meal, I encourage checking this place out. The food is fabulous. However, the service is ridiculously slow. Come here for VERY DELICIOUS Mexican food. It’s nothing fancy. But they make things hearty and very hot/​cold/​spicy/​mild… It is delicious. I come here for their sopas. Mariscos & camarones are SO good. So is the Sopa de res. Not as much oxtail as other places, but delicious.

La comida era tan buena! This place is muy autentico. When I see a huge pot of menudo on a Sunday morning… awww yea! The homemade chips and guacamole were good. My carnitas tacos came with grilled cactus was great. Habanero and green sauce on the side was killer. My carne asada tostado was also very good. I thought the service was good… tengo que practicar mi espanol un poco. This place delivers, so I will be indulging. Check it out. Great prices, great selection very good food.

I went to this place a few weeks ago and ordered a taco, it wasn’t special but I was satisfied with the price.
Today I went back and tried their burrito. OMG that was the best, biggest, most delicious burrito I’ve ever had! It was huge and I had to force my stomach so much to finish half of it. Finally I took the other half home for my lunch tmr. I had the spicy beef filling. The meat was so flavored and they gave me more meat than rice! No need to mention the free chips with guac dip! Anyway I’ll def go back and try other dishes they have with my friends — so we can share them.
But like other people said, don’t expect too much on the environment and service.

You go here for the food. Not the service, and certainly not the ambiance. The food is truly Mexican (not Americanized) and the portions are extremely generous. Not to mention the price: you can fill up on a monster size lunch for less than ten dollars and still have half of it to take home for dinner. And that is after you get warm, crisp chips with a creamy guac dip. Their tacos are filled to the brim with meat! I recommend the pollo chicken.
The space is modest and clean. There are about ten tables and there’s a large tv on the wall playing Spanish soap operas. Some of the servers have trouble with English. They also lack attentiveness. But I get the sense that they just prefer not to rush you. That could bug some, but for me it’s easy to overlook.

This restaurant has been open about four months now. I work nearby so I’ve had many opportunities to stop in. It is a wonderful, genuinely Mexican restaurant (as opposed to Tex-​Mex), and also different from the many central American restaurants in the neighborhood. It is true that their are cultural differences for Anglos to navigate, such as the reserve about bringing you your check that the other reviewer mentions. For anyone looking for great food at a bargain price, Cinco de Mayo is not to be missed.
When you are seated you are brought the most amazing chips I have ever had with a small, complementary order of a smooth avocado dip. The menu is huge and boasts many hidden gems. To make matters worse, if you come at lunchtime, you will be presented with both the breakfast and lunch menu. They have five kinds of sincronizados on the breakfast menu which are similar to what we think of in this country as quesadillas. The breakfast menu also offers delicious chilaquiles, which come either red or green with two fried eggs. Yum!
The portions are very, very large. One shouldn’t order the plates (that run about $ 12) unless you are prepared for a very big meal indeed. I often order a pair of tacos. They cost $ 2.50 a piece and I defy anyone to eat more than two. Try the pollo loco filling, which is chicken in a spicy chipotle bar-​b-​que sauce. On Saturdays they offer delicious barbacoa tacos which come with a free accompaniment of caldo de res. The tostadas are wonderful if you are feeling like something a bit more substantial than the tacos. They run $ 3.50 a piece. I am a particular fan of the huarache, which is a very large, flattened corn base topped with beans, meat, lettuce, two kinds of cheese and sour cream. It comes with your choice of meat. It’s delicious but very hard to finish. They have a wonderful posole stew that comes with two complimentary bean tostadas. I have not yet tried the tortas or many other dishes on the menu.
The space is brightly lit and functional. A large flat screen TV is blaring the a Spanish language station at all hours. This is a fun, welcoming experience with awesome food. You could come here 20 times without running out of new things to try on the menu.
