I can only write about my take-out experience, so this review does not include customer service. We ordered the phở dac diet, the rice grilled combo, and vermicelli with fried spring rolls(cha gio) and grilled chicken. The broth for the phở was phenomenal and there was adequate amounts of meat, even for a take-out order. The grilled combo had chicken and beef, both very tasty. I was disappointed with the spring rolls(cha gio). They were very bland and mostly filled with taro. The nuoc nam sauce was also bland for my taste. I wish they made it with more fish sauce, garlic, and chili peppers. I ended up using my sister’s nuoc nam sauce, since it tastes much better. Overall, pretty decent Vietnamese restaurant for Maryland. I’d definitely go for the phở.

I really want to like this place — the food’s fairly tasty, but the interior’s just too unappealing. There’s a difference between divey and dirty — this joint’s definitely the latter. The curtains next to me were literally crusty. A friend brought me here for lunch, insisting that the grub was A+, so I tried to keep an open mind, but as soon as I sat down, the smell of urine totally overwhelmed my senses. Maybe try getting take-out?

My fiancé was in the mood for phở, so we actually planned to go to Phở Viet but they were closing soon, so we chose Indochine. It was pretty awesome. Nothing fancy at all. Maybe 10 – 15 tables in the whole restaurant. Most people who came in were doing carry-out. We got a table near the front window, as the rest of the tables were in the back where there were no windows. Nice selection of phở according to my fiancé(I’m not really into phở but he loves it). I ordered sesame shrimp. Telling by the way my fiancé devoured his phở, I would say it was delicious. My sesame shrimp was cooked to perfection! We both completely finished our meals. The price is excellent. Large phở was about $ 10, mine was $ 11. Great customer service and attentive waitress. I will definitely go again.

I had a grilled pork banh mi — the meat was just okay, but the other ingredients really shine. The roll was real french bread rather than just a sub roll and it definitely made a difference for me.

I thoroughly enjoy this place. In Baltimore city when in the mood for Phở this is the place to go to. The broth is flavorful and a good portion of noodles. I do wish that a little more protein was added to the phở. The staff is friendly and service was quick. The rice and vermicelli combos are good and big. Check it out.

if you’re craving vietnamese in baltimore, this place will definitely hit the spot. it’s not the best, but it will satiate your craving. ive had the spring rolls(veggie, pork and shrimp. cant miss.); pork vermicelli(B2, bun thit), really large portion of pork that is very well flavored; and bahn mi: surprisingly delicious! big portion. lots of pork and veggies. soft bread. a little too much mayo for my taste, but overall, yum. my friend always gets the beef phở and she says its good! ive tried the broth and agree that its very flavorful.

I got the beef phở from here tonight and I scooped up the meat from the bottom after letting it sit for a while and the meat looked like a fish scale, changing colors of green and Pink. I called them to tell them about this and the man in the phone was rude and tried telling me that this was from the noodles being too hot??? My noodles were definitely not even that hot to begin with. Instead of offering to do anything now, in order to get my money back I have to take time out of my schedule(mind you I’m a law student) to go back tomorrow and bring the phở to him and show him the meat to get my money back, because they close at 9pm. I even told him that he needs to go back and check all the meat they have been giving out to people and he chuckled and said he didn’t know what I was talking about. I’m never going back here again, and to those that do-check your meat before you leave the restaurant/eat it!

A tad divey, but charming nonetheless. I had a really nice dinner here on my last night in Baltimore and wish I had the opportunity to try more of the menu. Menu is mostly Vietnamese and it appeared most of the diners were eating phở. Unlike my usual self, i did not get phở opting instead for a stir fry chicken dish called the indochine stir fry special. It was very flavorful and packed a good amount of heat from the chilis. Good choice, though I would’ve enjoyed more veggies in there, particularly string beans. They have a few Indonesian dishes, and I would have tried the Indo fried rice had I noticed it before i ordered. Service was pretty good, though with just two servers who also doubled to take takeout orders, they were stretched pretty thin.

Whoever makes the broth for the phở is an artist. Their grandmamma would be proud, and her grandmamma is smiling down from heaven. The miraki shines through. I got the large bowl of basic P1, the meat combo, with all the good stuff except meatballs. It was enormous, and so loaded with perfect noodles and tender meats, that I could barely get half way in.(We’ll get back to that) There was a reason for that. The Spring Rolls are huge! I ate one, almost thinking it was half a meal, so I saved the other one for my friend.(We’ll get back to that too) I also got a fried pork Bahn Mi, to go, because that’s why I really came. Ok, break it down time. I walked in a 4:30 pm. I just wanted to check out their Bahn Mi, to find out if it was ‘All That”, like I’d been told. That’s when the smell of the broth washed over me like the best music my nose had ever heard. So I asked for a table, then went out and put more money in the meter. I had the place to myself, and a wonderful, knowledgeable, attentive y muy linda waitress. The Spring Rolls are huge. And they are perfect. They showed up in about 60 seconds. Perfect shrimp, pork, noodles, herbs and rice. The peanut sauce was fully pureed, which was textually odd, but tasted great, but not perfect. The roll I saved for my friend blew up in the heat of my truck, sitting in 95 degree heat for a minute. So he had to eat it like a salad. Oh the humanity! The Phở was sublime. I only ate the broth for the first few minutes, with no condiments. Oh, mama. The Force is strong with this one. Describing it to you is pointless. Then I added a little hoisin and sriracha Then I ate the noodles. Then the meats, especially the precious tripe were plentiful and perfectly cooked. The side wide-leaf basil, mild jalapenos, sprouts and lime were all fresh. Bhan Mi time. The bread alone is worth the price of admission. The fried pork was pleasing in all ways. The pickled veggies were crisp, but slightly less noticeable in flavor than some. Chef’s call. Oh, and it’s big. Did I mention the bread? Wrap up. The place is clean and tight, especially for a 200 year old Mt. Vernon town home space. Prices are a buck or two more than you are used to expecting, but the quantity and quality take care of that. I was her only customer, but the service was impeccable, and she had a sense of humor. When I made the universal sign for ‘chopsticks’, she looked mortified that she’d overlooked that.

I like to try all the different phở places in the area. I was excited to see that they offered bahn mai, which is hard to find in this city. I did not try, but I will go back to evaluate. This visit was simply about the phở. It was empty when we were there and service was slow, which was disappointing since an attraction to phở is how fast it usually comes. The options were pretty standard. Once it did come, the serving was big and the meat portion was hefty. However, I was not impressed with the broth which was a bit bland. It took awhile to get water refills and the check. I did like the portion sizes and amount and flank in the phở, but like I stated, really not a fan of the broth. I probably would only go back for the phở in a pinch.

This is one of the only phở places in Baltimore. It is also my go-to phở place, partially out of convenience and partially because I really love the phở here. It always warms my belly and I am always happy after coming here, especially on a gloomy/chilly day. $ 8 for a small bowl and $ 10 for a large bowl. I always get the number 1(which has everything) small bowl, and it never fails to satisfy my phở craving. The broth is nicely flavored, and meat is fresh — always hits the spot.

I went to Indochine with my boyfriend because we saw the reviews on Unilocal and it seemed worth checking out. I personally wanted to try the Phở hoping this would become my new spot for Phở(because as many know it isn’t easy finding good Phở in Baltimore). We ate here for lunch and I ordered the small«Well done» Phở, my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried rice, and we shared an appetizer. For starters we got the steamed dumplings(cannot remember the exact name, sorry), which were pretty good. Reminded me of Dim Sum. The sauce it came with was very flavorful. For my phở entry it wasn’t bad. Not the best phở I’ve ever had but not the worst. The Phở had flavor but it wasn’t unique and not very memorable. I personally don’t see myself ordering it again. I tasted my boyfriend’s chicken fried rice and it was pretty good; the portion size was great, but again, not very memorable. Overall, I give this restaurant 3 stars because the service was good, the food was ok, portions were decent and the atmosphere was ok.

This little phở restaurant serves a warm bowl of soup that is perfect for a drab, cold day in Baltimore, and as winter approaches(I refuse to say«Winter is Coming»!), there will be more of those days on the horizon. Charles Street has always hosted the best restaurants of Charm City, and Indochine, which is further north on Charles past the Washington Monument, definitely holds up to that tradition. This and the next door Minato sushi are revitalizing the Asian flare of the Mount Vernon restaurant district which suffered during the recession and demise of My Thai in that five alarm fire of the past. The feel of Indochine is casual, but not mainstream. The small phở will fill you up, and the large phở is a good value but inordinately huge. I kind of wish there were more chicken or wonton options, but they do beef here really well. Tripe, if you’re into that kind of thing, is served in strips which is a little unusual for a girl from the Southwest, but I guess strips are more amenable to being gripped by chopsticks. From someone who has eaten in many phở restaurants, this one is not terribly unique, but phở is a simple dish and Indochine fills a niche that desperately needed to be filled in this area of Baltimore. Indochine has great comfort food, a cute row house atmosphere, and is definitely bringing more attention to North Charles as it deserves. :)

The beef phở here is decent, but the sticky(coconut) rice with mango was absolutely gross! I love this dessert so it’s difficult to ruin it for me, but this restaurant achieved it. The consistency of the sticky rice was decent, but it was the coconut flavoring underneath the rice, it was so nasty. The taste was artificial and the mango tasted old. One bite into the mango & it confirmed that it wasn’t fresh. Besides the fact that when it arrived, it wasn’t shiny from being freshly peeled/cut(the mango juice), it was dry and matte. I really like their tofu & veggies phở, you can choose between beef or veggie broth as well. I do not miss beef phở at all, their vegetarian phở is so good! You should definitely try it. The interior décor is also outdated and depressing. ‘Indochine’ desperately needs a new paint job.

It’s an ok Vietnamese/Indonesian restaurant. I went there for a lunch to grab a pair of garden rolls and a Phở soup. The garden rolls were pretty decent, just as well as the sauce that came with them. The Phở however was a pretty big deception. Broth had a blank taste, just as the noodles, all stick together on the bottom of the bowl. To finish my meal, I ordered a Thai tea, which was quite a deception again. The taste was just off. In the end, it’s an ok place to come for lunch, even if there might be better places to go around if you are into that kind of food.

Synopsis: Atmosphere: 3⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Taste: 5⁄5 Price: 4.5÷5 Selection: 4.5÷5 I have been here a few times to try it out and I must say that this place makes great phở. The broth is delicious, and they do not skimp out on the meat, which is important. Also, they give you a healthy side of bean sprouts and the like. I have also had the sandwiches, or Banh Mi in the menu, and viet iced coffee, these are also well done. The grilled chicken one was tasty and so was the coffee. However, for the iced coffee they could have added slightly less condensed milk and take out a couple ice cubes, but it was very strong which made me happy. The service received was quick and no hassle, but not super bubbley. I personally don’t care about this, but maybe someone else does. The prices of the food are quite reasonable for the quality that you get. The most negative part of this place is the atmosphere. I would not want to eat in during super hot days. They have fans and like two window units but no AC. I have been here during a hot day and it is no good. If they added AC I would easily change my rating. Also, the dining room is a little dark. They can lighten up the place and that would be better. Overall, I would come back and recommend this to any fans of phở.

This is not an authentic phở plc. Don’t know why they have high reviews. Maybe their other food is better? FOOD: I got the phở. Is the broth from a packet? Never had such bland, less complex phở broth. We were hungover, craving phở, and didn’t finish our bowl. PRICE: ~$ 8 for small $ 10 for large SERVICE: Nice interior, fancier than usual phở joints. BOTTOMLINE: It’s a good place for first time phở eaters.

Indochine has definitely improved in the six months since my last review. They have started offering bahn mi sandwiches since I was here last, and my husband and I both enjoyed the grilled chicken version — it was tender, nicely seasoned, and had plenty of veggies stuffed inside of the roll. I particularly enjoyed the tart, vinegary taste of the shredded carrots — it just added that«little something» to the sandwich that pushed it over the top. Really delicious! The summer rolls remain very good — the shrimp inside were actually generously sized, and the rice paper was tender without being rubbery(unlike the last time). They’ve stepped up their game, for certain, in this area. Phở is also still great — the broth to noodle/meat ratio was perfection. They were generous with the toppings, as well — bean sprouts and cilantro were plentiful and they’ll bring you more if you ask them nicely. My husband ordered vermicelli once again, and this time I got to try it — also excellent. I’ll have to tear myself away from the phở and the bahn mi long enough to eat a bowl for myself — if I can. It’s just that good. Décor has improved somewhat — it’s still pretty austere, but I’m not there for its surroundings. They’ve either purchased Brita filters or they’ve stopped using tap water in their drinks — because there was a marked difference from the last time we were here. Service is still great — no changes there. This is definitely my go-to phở joint. Delish! I’m all about those taro rolls next time I stop in.
