This is like stepping into a much older Baltimore when you’re here. Down home cooking with local flare, this establishment has been a favorite to locals for over 80 years! Stepping inside, I could smell smoke that was still in the walls from the days when one could still smoke in a restaurant. Charming… Our waitress was very friendly and aimed to please. I got the Crab Fluff and my wife got the Sour Beef and Dumpling stew, essentially Sauerbraten. I’ve lived in Maryland my whole life and had never heard of crab fluff, which is a crab cake battered and deep fried. It’s delicious and still does the crab justice. Came with steak fries and a veggie side. The Beef and Dumplings is hearty, meaty, and quite sour — we even had a half lemon thrown into the soup! A lot of folks around us got their famous Shrimp Salad — I guess we’ll have to get it next time. It looked like huge pieces of shrimp tossed in a mayo dressing. Overall, not a bad place.

The place looks a little worn-out, but don’t let that keep you away. We had an excellent lunch here. The waitress was cheerful, prompt and very accommodating of my elderly mother’s wheelchair(held the door, moved chairs around — that sort of thing). The food was really tasty. My Mom raved about the shrimp salad(we were unaware that the place is known for its shrimp salad). My wife and I each had a wrap made with fish in a wasabi sauce that we both enjoyed greatly. The fries that came along with it were also tasty. Good food, good service, reasonable prices.

Best shrimp salad out there! New menu that I can’t wait to try out. Friendly staff and always delicious food. We went on St. Patrick’s day and had a blast

Went there for St. Patty’s Day. ordered the special Shepherds Pie… it was a bowl of ground beef, frozen mixed veggies & so much grease I had to pour it out of my dish… twice…The Paddy O Nachos & Mozz Sticks were served cold but the plates were strangely hot…

Exceeded my expectations! Stopped in for lunch with a coworker. I ordered a turkey wrap and diet soda and was pleased with the warm toasty wrap. The diet soda was not flat and often this is the case in restaurants. The service was good and the restaurant did not have an odor as some of the previous reviews mentioned.

We brought a large group of people to the restaurant. The service was great and very accommodating. The food was very good for the price. My only complaint is the place could use some updating. Other then that definitely recommend it. The shrimp salad is my favorite.

On the advice of some natives here in Baltimore, I decided to check out Kibby’s for lunch today. The décor is dated and dingy and there is a musty odor when you walk in. I asked the waitress what she recommended and ordered the shrimp salad they are so famous for. The wait staff was friendly and the food was pretty tasty. I got alot of shrimp salad and a huge Kaiser roll with my order. The biggest question I have is why is a shrimp salad sandwich $ 14 and it doesn’t come with any sides? It was a pretty pricey lunch. I would go back, but would wait for dinner and I would get it to go.

Good chicken noodle soup. Popular hangout for locals. Great shrimp salad. Décor is a bit outdated but don’t let that be a deterrent. Side note: Very sweet busboy named Joe he was very personable and told us what he thought we might enjoy. Hopefully Kibbys reads these reviews and will give that kind busboy a raise.

Been here before. Food is good service a little slow but what can you do with one person working the table. Wings were good and nice. Family environment. The beer was very cold. Wife said onion ring were average. They have a great shrimp salads sandwich. The best in the state. They do accept entertainment coupon

After years of coming here and marveling at their justifiably famous shrimp salad, I finally asked a server how they make it. «We have one guy who knows the recipe,» she said. «He comes in every morning, steams and peels all the shrimp, and makes up the dressing. We just mix it up.» Well, whatever they’re doing, it’s working. Huge, meaty shrimp with a dense, silky texture; a dressing that’s thick but not too gloppy; the right proportion of crunchy celery bits and a healthy kick of hot pepper at the back end. It’s heaven. And don’t turn up your nose at the potato chips that accompany the salad; it’s actually a nice combo of spicy-crunchy-salty to eat them together. That’s about all I have to say that’s positive. The salad is very expensive when purchased as a takeout option; honestly, it’s worth it to sit and ask for a to-go box, as you’ll get 50% more on the plate. It comes on bread for a massive sandwich or on a «bed of lettuce,» which is one(1) leaf that’s basically hidden under the shrimp.(If you bat your eyelashes at the server, you may get a few extra leaves for good behavior.) The venue itself is hopelessly divey; the décor and furnishings date back to the 70’s and it’s best not to inspect anything too closely for cleanliness. The servers are sometimes nice and sometimes surly. And DONOT, under any circumstances, attempt to eat in the«lounge» unless sketchiness is your thing!

My bf and I met a friend here who was drinking at the bar. First thing that struck me was… the smell. Eeek, it smells like the place in general hasn’t been given a good cleaning in a long time. Very musty. Alas. you get used to it. We got a couple drinks and ordered a grilled cheese with bacon on it. I’m not sure if it’s on the menu, but our friend who’s a regular there suggested it. OMG was it great! One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Such a surprise at this crappy bar lol. It seems frequented by a lot of locals, friendly people who will just start talking to you even if they don’t know you. I was very happily surprised with my visit to Kibby’s and I look forward to trying more of their foods in the future.

Oh Kibby’s what a great place to go if you are a local to the area. They have an amazing Shrimp Salad sandwich and Roast beef platter. I have never been fully disappointed with the food and would love to try more things on the menu. This gem has been around for a while, and you can tell once you venture inside. The prices are great and the regulars are too. Make sure to get gravy with your fries it really hits the spot on cold days. Since I am a huge fan of MD half and half soup, I once again ordered it to see how it was at Kibby’s, the results was okay a lot of veggies, crab chunks, and still very creamy. Def. come here if you want something similar to a hearty home cooked meal.

This place was advertised as having the best shrimp salad in the city, so the Honey Bunny and I came here for the quest of having the best shrimp salad in Baltimore. This place is located in a dingy little shopping center on the outskirts of Baltimore. Basically, nowhere near downtown. As soon as you walk in you realize that it’s a local dive bar. For me, that’s a plus, as I personally love local dive bars because each one is different and it tells you about the history of the place/area. Loads of Colts(before they moved obviously) memorabilia and Orioles stuff fill up a trophy case to the right of the bar. There’s also an area for a pool table and darts. We only ordered the shrimp salad, and it was almost as good as advertised; the shrimp were huge. It’s definitely done with a lot of old bay, although with not as much mayo as I liked. The shrimp salad was 10 dollars, which is a great price for what you get. Although I’m still partial to the shrimp salad at the Bay Café, at least this is 50% cheaper than their’s. I’d definitely come back whenever I’m in Birdland catching the Os for a game.

I went here with the thought of hiring them for a catering job. They had a tasting for us, so I can’t comment on the cost of the food for the restaurant, just the quality of food. The food was plated diner-style, and much of it was the wrong temperature(too room-temp or too cold depending on the dish). And, it was all extremely salty. There wasn’t anything I really liked, except for the shrimp salad. Most people seem to go here for the shrimp salad, and it has massive-sized shrimp in it. As far as the other food, don’t bother unless you like high blood pressure. To top it off, the three of us got sick afterwards. Bleh.
