This salon is the best hair salon. Ever.
I see Bethany, but everyone at the salon is friendly and seems very knowledgable. I adore Bethany. She is a hair guru and makes my hair look and feel amazing. Bethany is very professional and damn good at her job. Whatever I ask for, not only does she deliver but exceeds my expectations. Incredible. Each time I leave, I’m excited to go back! From the moment I step through the door, the receptionist is super sweet and hospitable. The aesthetic of the salon is minimalistic and calming; great eye for design! They carry Davines products which are high quality and very effective. I wish I could give this salon more than 5 stars. I’m so happy I’ve found Laboratorie. Finally!

I usually go to Balance Salon on Cold Spring, but my usual girl couldn’t take me for a few weeks, went out on a limb and got an appointment on the spot because of a cancellation.
I had Bethany (the owner) and she was great! I’ve been growing out my disconnect and she started the process of blending my hair to start a true even pixie. No judgement when I told her I box dye my hair (I’m always embarrassed to day at nice places!) And after I explained to her I don’t have that kind of money, she kindly suggested to try one of her other stylists next time since they have a lower price point (I was not offended at all) I have an appointment in a few weeks. Can’t wait to go back!

I’m a San Francisco transplant and I spent years looking for a salon that matched my SF hairstylist. I started seeing Rebecca when she was voted best hairstylist in Baltimore Magazine and I’ve been going to her ever since. And Bethany has done a fantastic job with her salon including it’s serene and very clean décor. Rebecca has always done a great job with my fine hair. I have never been disappointed. Though the salon is a 40 minute drive for me, it has to be the best salon in the Baltimore area. I also love their reminder system as I almost never write my appointment down! Not only do I get a voice message but I also get an email reminder — very slick! The only problem I face is their popularity and how far they’re booked out. But I consider that a good thing and a tribute to their professionalism and craft.

I had my first experience at laboratorie and will not be going back. I had a bad experience with Rebecca. My appointment started with a reprimand from my stylist, who I was meeting for the first time, for being late when I was actually 30 minutes early. The consultation was good, we agreed on a length and style. In the end, the style was fine but the length was much shorter than what we agreed to. At the end of the visit I was once again reminded of their late policy as well as their other appointment related policies. I am really bummed since I was looking for a new great salon in the area.

I have had Natalue care for my hair for several years. She does wonderful haircuts And color. I can’t imagine anyone giving her or anyone working in thus salon ess than five stars. They are all masters of their trade.

I’ve been to Laboratorie two times. I wanted to see a senior stylist, but it was impossible to get an appointment with one. I think they were booking about 3 months out. So don’t call expecting an appointment in a few weeks.
I called about a month out, and saw a junior stylist named Alexandra. I walked out liking the cut and color but not loving it. I decided I’d give it another chance, called back to find out she no longer worked there, and was scheduled with Natalie. I explained to her that I was trying to grow my hair out and tended to not like really short layers, but at the same time felt like my hair needed more shape.
I walked out with short layers but really loved the color. I find it’s harder to find someone who does great color vs. cutting, so I think I’ll give this salon one more chance.
I will say, they are extremely nice, and the salon atmosphere is great. Tips are cash only. Parking is easy with the garage across the street and plenty off-​street. They are also great about complimentary in-​between bang trims.

I have been a customer since Laboratorie opened, and service has always been exceptional. The Stylists at the salon are the best in Baltimore. The salon is always very clean and beautiful, with a calming atmosphere. I love that I can get the products I need, products other salons don’t offer. I’ve never had a bad experience, and always get compliments on my hair. Kudos to Bethany for making this salon amazing.

Hands-​down the best place in town. Bethany is wonderful, and so are Natalie and Rebecca. I love that if you really have no idea what to do with your hair (as is often the case– I want something different, but I’m not sure what) they will help you find a solution and it will be perfect. For instance I had no idea what to do about my grey and was thinking about maybe growing it out someday (emphasis on the «maybe» and «someday») and Bethany helped me transition from permanent to semi-​permanent color so if I ever want to go for it I won’t have to go through an awkward «skunk stripe» phase. I also love how it has a relaxing vibe, and how no one ever tries to upsell you on a bunch of hair products or processes or treatments you don’t need (though if you do need them they’ll help you find what you’re looking for).

Bethany, the owner, is awesome and its the best color (highlights) that I have had in a long time.
Everyone is friendly, knows what the are doing and I have no fear when I come in and get my hair done. Plus, it has a nice little Zen feel to the space.

I used to be very hands-​off about my hair – trimmed the ends myself, rarely got professional haircuts, didn’t see the point in spending so much money. Then I decided I’d start really taking care of my difficult hair. For a few years, I bounced around to different salons and was always pleased with the outcome, but once I found Bethany, I knew I’d stay with her. Now there’s no looking back!
What is different is Bethany’s incredible, professional commitment to doing just the right thing for you. She has exacting standards and will take the time to get things just right, never rushing through a cut. She has given me great haircuts at short, medium, and longer lengths and always has ideas for just the right touches. Before, I’d always been happy with my hair upon leaving the salon, but then found it challenging to replicate the good results at home. With the haircuts that Bethany has given me, I have found it so easy to make my hair look consistently good. I don’t think about having bad hair days anymore.
Knowing the challenges I have wrangling with the texture of my difficult hair, after working with me for a year or so, Bethany suggested that I might want to consider a special, all-​natural amino acid treatment. It was expensive, but knowing that she wouldn’t steer me wrong just to make a buck, I decided to go for it. It was like getting a hair transplant – amazing! Better than I could have imagined! Now I’m hooked.
In the past year, I’ve started getting color as well, and was worried about matching the color of my hair from a few years back, when it was a bit brighter red. Once again, Bethany came through and I’ve been thrilled with the results.
Though I see Bethany for my appointments, I wouldn’t hesitate to visit one of the other Laboratorie stylists. She has created a great team of professionals with an eye for style and excellent technique.

I did a ton of research about Baltimore salons, and I’m thrilled that I went to see Bethany. She listened to my concerns about my hair and I left the salon with exactly what I wanted! What I liked most about Bethany is that it was clear she was doing what was best for me and my hair, as opposed to the same technique done for everyone. If you go to Laboratorie, you will absolutely get the personal experience that many salons lack. She answered all my questions thoughtfully and thoroughly, which I very much appreciated. I rarely purchase product from salon, but I just HAD to have the conditioner they use, my hair has never felt softer and silkier! I can’t say enough good things about Bethany and Laboratorie and I can’t wait for my next appointment! Book far in advance, because salons/​stylists this great are often full!

The salon is gorgeous with a really great vibe. The staff is fantastic and the stylists really know hair! They don’t do anything that you are uncomfortable with and they always have new ideas to keep your look fresh and fun. Definitely make your appointments far in advance, this place gets booked up fast.

I have had appointments with all three stylists here, Bethany, Natalie and Rebecca and I have been so satisfied every time! These women consider hair styling a craft, not a job — and you can tell.
Natalie was the first stylist I met, and she did my hair and a friend’s hair for a wedding. It was elegant, and stayed fuss free, but felt really natural and just what I had in mind. Not at all overworked.
I visited Rebecca and Bethany for haircuts, and I’ve been really happy walking out of the salon. It feels like a finished look, but not over-​sprayed and sticky. I love the subtle creativity that my bangs have– just slightly angled.
I’m really excited to have my highlights and color done here in the future. My friend has been raving about their color skills for years, since before they founded Laboratorie.

I started going to Laboratorie about 6 months ago and have been so happy with my cut and highlights. Bethany really listened to what I was looking for and she fine-​tuned it with my input. At the beginning of each appointment, you discuss your hair… what is working, what questions you have. Bethany is really responsive and extremely knowledgeable. My highlights look better than they’ve ever looked, even when they are growing out. It can be tough to get an appointment, which just demonstrates how these professionals are in such high demand. I am a true fan.
